- The suspect in the random killing of a retiree posted on Facebook made his living mentoring teens in Cleveland, but his life appeared to be unraveling under the weight of gambling debts and trouble with his girlfriend.
Rambling videos he shared showed his despair, saying he was out of options and wanted to kill as many innocent people as he could.
The Associated Press is attempting to make people feel sorry for an asshole who went out, confronted an old man, made the old man say his ex-girlfriend's name and then executed him, claiming it was her fault he killed and was going to kill again.
Seriously, what the fuck? Just when you think the media couldn't sink any lower, they find a way to do it. How about some sympathy for the dead guy, who had just finished Easter dinner with his grown kids? We're supposed to be sad about a guy who was running through a rough patch and decided to take it out on a complete stranger?

They literally had sad music playing and were speaking in hushed tones as if some great, blameless, tragic figure had just been killed. It was revolting.

Bit of a harsh judgment saying they're trying to make him seem sympathetic. I see it as constructive in informing the public how a normal seeming guy who had by all accounts a stable non-criminal and non-violent life can turn into a conscienceless killer when his life spins out of control, be it by his choices or otherwise, and he is left feeling hopeless. The sad fact is, this isn't going to be the last time some guy who you wouldn't otherwise suspect like this goes off and kills some poor random soul or souls because the despair or hopelessness he feels is too much for him to handle. Others will respond by killing themselves instead, which certainly would be better. The important thing to take away is that this kind of thing can happen and will happen again and for people to be thinking about other people in their lives who might seem like normal, stable, non-violent people but who might one day find themselves faced with problems like relationship losses or serious financial losses that become too much for them to handle and to look for ways to help them or get them connected to help before they go off the deep end. I mean, would you like to try to prevent stuff like this from happening or not?

Off topic - I had to shut off NBC 5 newscast. They were reporting the sexual assault of a child inside a store at Pulaski & DIversey. After the store's security footage was shown - they had to report that the suspect was a 'White-Hispanic, age/approx. weight.' Again - whenever the inner-city creatures create their usual havoc, it's always a 'vague description,' 'men' or 'two males.' Citizens immediately knew that it's the typical savage, even when the newscasters don't want to admit it. They have no problem, however, stating that a suspect is 'White' (yet alone, the ridicule 'White Hispanic' tag....
What about the M1 in California killing only white people because he hated whites. Hardly an outcry from any group. I been and will carry a gun while I'm going anything. A random murder with absolutely no connection between the victim and killer? Without any video, how soon do you think the killer would have been identified?
If those thugs from the west side who kidnapped and tortured that kid hadn't recorded their savagery and uploaded it, what evidence would we have to charge and convict those punks? The word of a disabled, schizophrenic kid? Having him testify and go through cross examination without the video would have been torture to him.
I am a big fan and user of Facebook and Twitter, I'm glad criminal use it to record their crimes. It is proof to people who would not otherwise believe such savagery happens. It has to make the detectives job much easier.
