Murder in 016
Even in the far northwest side:
- A man found injured in a Northwest Side house fire Friday morning died of multiple stab wounds, authorities determined after an autopsy Saturday.
Loren Flensborg, 75, of the 5000 block of North Oak Park Avenue, died of multiple sharp force injuries in a homicide, the Cook County medical examiner's office determined.
Flensborg was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m. Friday at Presence Resurrection Medical Center.
Firefighters responded to a fire that started in the basement of a single-family home in the 5000 block of North Oak Park Avenue in the Big Oaks neighborhood about 5:55 a.m. Friday, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Chicago's wonderful tv media showed footage of the fire, and actually stated that it was at the 5000 block of Oak park Av, in Oak Park ---twice....Head scratching time.
Not So Fast on this one SCC; he had a "Diverse" family, especially for that neighborhood. In addition, the 016th District is NOT warning neighbors of a Threat to the immediate community.

Can't tell if you were being sarcastic or just referring to the victim as not being narcotics-related.
The incident may be narcotics-related in that the home invaders/offenders were burglarizing to make money for a drug habit, and/or were already on narcotics at the time of occurrence.
I'm not from nor work in 016 (God's country, as I've heard it called by police who live there), but there are a lot of home grown bust outs in that neighborhood, not to mention the continuing influx of Section 8 residences embedded among the nice houses there, that has brought a none-too-savory element to the neighborhood.

"Seniors need guns," should be the next gun manufacturing advertisement campaign. But in a lot of circumstances its true, my dad is 89yrs. old and breezed though the Concealed Carry qualifications. He did it with his NRA World War Two 1911 he acquired in 1968. I don't know what happened to the guy in 016, but if you have elderly parents, and again, it depended on their condition; think about a firearm for their on protection.

OT a little: SCC, you ran a thread from Nov 20, 2012 regarding 013th Dist Latin King, Adam Salas. Well, I'm hearing he is no longer with us after being shot up in the 020th District last night. Lots of former 013th Dist officers would be interested in the story, after all the 10-1's with Adam and his brother Omar.. I can't find anything in the Trib, but it's all over Facebook.
The dead guy had a 10 year old with a west side prostitute. He will not be missed.

It's in the Trib, he's just not named. Shot multiple times in the chest at 5:55 am Sunday in the 4800 block of N Rockwell. Good riddance. That POS actually followed a cop home from 13 one night. He got the crap kicked out of him shortly thereafter.
Omar supposedly has AIDS. He lives in the coach house in the building next to his mom in the 2100 block of Huron, but is rarely seen. Adam was forced to move as a part of plea deal with his Mom after the neighbors got fed up and worked with then Cmdr Staples, the alderman and the city atty to have her house declared and gang/drug house.
I live in 4100 block on the P street by Cumberland and Irving Park My house was attempted be forced open my 100 lb Shepard stopped that white work van 2 m/4 25-35 around 200am

I thought I was the only one who noticed. The three-six flats are all section 08,if that's not enough when I walk the dog I don't acknowledge people walking by unless they go first. In the past I would nod or say hello and get either a blank look or looked at like I had Sh*t on my shoe,realized they don't/won't speak English and have contempt for Americans.White vans with ladder racks in the driveway (cash jobs only,no pay taxes), tearing down the existing house and building new all house no yard 14 person homes while saying America sucks. The wife works at HIP and they get mad when she tells them she doesn't speak their language as they pay in Hundred dollar bills (on the dole and working for cash only). Welcome to the New "Gods Country 016 and near suburbs !

Early 1950's, the area was the Big Oaks Golf course... just north of where current Ridge More Country Club is at. When developers started building houses in the late 50's, the name stuck.
Oh, and to the southside poster - Its still a nice area, not as nice as Southside, Mt. Greenwood where the same houses can be had for $115,000 and with great hillbilly type cops and fireman as neighbors.
The Big Oaks area of Norwood Park is also known as Cop Land and Plane Land. Go figure it out. LOL
