Rhode Island
- Backed by social justice warriors and civil rights groups, the Providence (Rhode Island) city council unanimously approved the “Community Safety Act” on Thursday, which makes their community significantly less safe. The new law places restrictions on police actions which are much more strict than the law otherwise allows.
Civil rights groups have been following a trend recently where they are less concerned about defending people’s actual constitutional rights, and more caught up in trying to secure additional rights for criminals. Legal and ethical investigative techniques used by police officers are more commonly becoming prohibited by police department policies in order to avoid lawsuits which improperly claim that police officers are violating people’s Constitutional rights.
It is already the job of state and federal courts to make rulings on what police officers are legally allowed to do, and what they are not allowed to do. Unfortunately, because the Constitution doesn’t afford criminals the level of protection that these groups would wish, they are now trying to pass laws which place those additional restrictions on police officers. In Providence, they succeeded.
Go read the entire laundry list of prohibited actions along with the actions that will get coppers sued if they fail to do them. It's extensive.

The Chicago progressives and professional
grievants REALLY want to see that happen here.
Their "revenge" against the Police...
Certain parts of the country are living in a post-constitutional world, with a focus on social and racial justice, inclusion and diversity. It is like a mental disease. Soon some PDs' will be totally impotent.
I would love to work there. By law... absolutely nothing to do. Sounds great!
The whole country is becoming the wild west which, is fine by me. I've acquired quite an arsenal in the last twenty plus years.
Sounds like a great place to work. Being told you're a great worker for doing absolutely nothing. We might just get promoted.
I thought Chicago was a shit hole until I spent a week in Providence. It is way worse than Chicago and those people think their city is a real gem. No, it is another shit hole mismanaged by incompetent Democrats and their supporters.
It has also been my experience that southern cities run by Republicans are a better bet across the board. Some of them are not so good and not all without problems, their issues seem to dwarf those of the democratic controlled cities.
Rhode Island is a weird state anyway. It's so small that it has an inferiority complex.
Some day, some city will pass all the laws needed to outlaw the police. The police will all just hang it up and walk out. Crime will skyrocket and the liberal assholes will be begging and crying for the police to come back. But it will only happen when enough of those asshole politicians are victims of the laws they want everyone else to live under.
J.J.
This is just like what is happening in the city of Chicago they don't want the police to do their jobs and if the police are stupid enough to do their jobs the police officers are investigated thrown into the circus of the media 24 seven dishonest reporting every day every hour City Hall feeds the media voraciously any police stories to keep the spotlight off of all of their nefarious activities.
Let the thinning of the herd begin.
"social justice warriors"
Really? That is what we are calling pansy liberal millennial snowflakes nowadays?
what did a former Soviet Union Premier once say: We will take over your country without a shot being fired! Read the Communists Manifesto and one of the first methods of taking over a country is to take control of the police. The second method is taking control over the military. The ACLU is accompany the first method as we speak.
Years ago the Madison Wi school board did something along the lines of prohibiting school children from saying the pledge of allegiance in school. There is nothing that these idiots can come up with that would surprise me at this point
Rhode Island is one of the most liberal states in the union.
Liberalism is truly a disease.....
Jeez, and Providence used to be a hard-ass, outfit town..one oi my Grandparents got off the boat there..
You should read this 'Act'. The police officer has been killed and put to rest. The good news is that cab companies have more vehicles available.
Get A Warrant. It is something of a get out jail (and lawsuit) for free card. It was even set up to function exactly in that capacity. Hey coppers, a bunch of robed wanna kings have told you things, at the behest of corrupt political robber barons, to do things that profoundly antithetical to your true and real purpose. It is time to step back, take another look, and see that those crews are not your friends, indeed they are using you like human shields to protect all their criminal buddies. Stop playing their games and stop being their patsies.
Call the bluffs of the wicked ACLU and BLM types. Do so plainly by getting back to the roots of what your job is REALLY supposed to be about - protecting and defending rights, not politicians thumb on ALL of us. See the difference yet?
Majority of the human race has gone mad! The Constitution is now taken out of context for the benefits of liberals....criminals.
Liberals are brainwashed. Criminals are idolized. All criminals claim insanity. Mental illness.
Lawyers are out for a buck, and literally influence criminals to sue. Most judges are as guilty as law-suit queens.
That's okay! I tell people all the time to arm themselves! The Police can't protect you!
0308 am....lol....me too!!!
I read the entire 'Act'. That 'thing' not only ties the hands of police, which is putting it mildly, and gives an overwhelming advantage to criminals, but it puts every Law Abiding Citizen in danger.
The 'Act' reads like it was composed by a group of Jail House Lawyers all doing Life, and they eliminated all the things that got them busted by the police.
Seriously, it's un-f**king-f**king-believable that a city -- allegedly run by intelligent adults, okay adult democrats -- could consider passing something as fucked up as that 'Act', even as a joke.
It is already the job of state and federal courts to make rulings on what police officers are legally allowed to do, and what they are not allowed to do.
It is certainly well within the prerogative of political bodies to determine just how they want their laws enforced and how police conduct themselves. Leaving it to the courts often results in unintended consequences because the courts are reluctant to meddle in things that are properly up to legislative bodies to determine, and rightly so.
It's a global thing and obama-Rahm's Chicago is already on the forefront.
All of Europe is doing it.
Weirdo soft skulled unhinged libs want freedom to speak their mind and riot until they get their ways.
The goofy state of Delaware recently had a State Senate meeting opened with Islamic prayer.
Stay Fetal
Well that's just one more place to scratch off the list of places to work.
I'm on the job in New England, the criminals thrive off the liberal governments that run the tiny states up here. The mayor of an affluent Boston suburb hung a BLM banner at city hall a few years back. People are dropping like flies from fetanyl and heroin but the media and pols are more concerned with hurt feelings at traffic stops than dealing with the problem.
I'll be honest, I don't have a huge problem with this - in general. The community gets to tell the government how it wants the government to act. That's the beauty of America. I have had arguments with people who don't like the cops serving search warrants for dope because they are too dangerous. My response was "then change the law so cops can't do them." They would always be constitutional, but localities could still outlaw them. So that's that. If that is what people want, then that is their right. If they want us to be required to immediately tell someone why they are being stopped that is their right.
Now we, as cops, do have a duty to shed some light on their stupidity, but that's it. That's as far as we go. We DON'T get political unless it hurts/endangers us directly, and we DON'T form any type of coalition. We can write about it and joke about it, and call out the insanity when the crime rate skyrockets, but that's it.
Remember, WE ARE the 'gobermint,' and inherently we should be looked at as suspect. That's the American way.
That's my personal opinion. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I am looking at the big picture. These liberals are destroyers of communities/nations in general, and they are incessant liars, there is no doubt about that. The whole notion that cops are the problem is way wrong, I have no doubt about that. But if these are the rules that are set up, then that's the way it goes. Sit back and enjoy you're job and laugh at these ignorant slobs, and tell your kids to work hard in school, manage their $, and get into the private sector.
President The Donald will bitch slap Rhode Island. It's too small. He may not find it.
Can we get some buses together to start moving our eternal dependants there?
