One of the better comments we've had appearing lately:
- Any officers still working beyond answering calls, even if you are assigned to the district you live in are out of your minds. If you think you are "holding the line" you need your head examined. You have a mayor, county board president, states attorney and sheriff who are all anti-police. They are grown up and empowered 60s radicals. I have hated "dogs" my entire career but that is not remotely the issue any longer. Until society understands that a small and predictable segment of the the population is violent and incapable of conforming to civilized rules of law without strong enforcement, it is us and not them that will continue to be the only ones to be subject prosecution.
It's going to have to get a lot worse before it gets better - fortunately:

Eddie Johnson came out today and said officers who "believe" a fellow officer overreacted in a situation should turn that officer in to their supervisor. Now the city wants cops to act as snitches against their fellow officers. In the Ghetto "snitches get stitches" or worse. Suddenly the lives of Gangsters, Drug Dealers, Rapist, Child Molesters, Kidnapers, and the like are SACRED! Wow!
Love the one about lighting up assholes like a Christmas tree, by the way... Christmas is in the July from what I hear on tv

The 60's radicals have wormed their way deep into most of our institutions while good people were distracted. I don't know how much more of this our republic can stand.
Too bad the voters aren't bright enough to realize this and vote the bums out.

I work down at County building. The biggest anti-police is Dart. Preckwinkle and Rahm will at least respond to your hello. I have tried to say hello to Dart three times and he just looks at you like your the scum of the earth. One time a Deputy asked for his ID at the DC and he wanted her written up. The Chief said what written up for doing her job. Preckwinkle is actually very pleasant and Rahm is on and off but is not rude.
Ironic the Sheriff and his boy Cassidy were putting away innocent Ford Heights subjects in the early 90's (ASA days) but now he is the self-proclaimed progressive Sheriff. Total phony with no core... Hear Tommy paid mole in the media Mark Brown is getting launched when the Sun-Times is sold. Lets see how well Hanke is treated when the Sheriff doesn't need her anymore.

The 4 "office holders" mentioned each has a personal protection detail and drivers, so they need not worry about their safety or the safety of their larva, unlike the rest of us.

ya know, with the minimal number of murders this month maybe the social justice thing is working. don't chase, don't stop. however since its so peaceful can get more than 15% off this summer in using our earned comp time.
At FOP meeting about a year ago I was talking to Detective assigned to a Violent Crimes unit out south. Brought up an interesting point on CCL shooting incidents. Of which he said he handled "a few."
Under Illinois Vehicle Code if you are involved in a traffic crash, you are required to remain at the scene and identify yourself to police.
No such requirement in CCL shooting. (hint,hint)
I remember reading somewhere that each generation defines their own standards of moral decency. It appears the last generation or two has thrown morals into the crapper.
Until a great number of the dominant population becomes a victim of crime, it will continue to get worse. President Trump was born and raised when moral standards had meaning. Even if he is elected a second term, I think, if things don't change, his administration in American history may appear to be a "last gasp".

@ Mr. Southside, over half of all people in the USA are net beneficiaries of the democrats' tax-and-redistribute policies. When those paying are outnumbered by those who rob them (via the ballot box), no election is likely to change things.
Chicago has taxpayers, but too many of them are "connected," and actually stand with those looting the city, county and state dry. From Madigan to Emanuel, the reelection of these inveterate crooks is a monument to this fact.
Stop working boys and girls. You get sued you get hurt then they take away your pension for doing your job if your hurt. We don't pay into social security. No workmanship comp which saves the city and coppers losing benefits when hurt in line of duty. These are terrible times and this job is thankless
There are still a lot of people who support the police, even in the bad neighborhoods. Sometimes we forget this. A lot of police read this blog and come away thinking "Fuck this job." I like being the police, I like waving at people and greeting them when I am on routine patrol. And I enjoy locking up bad guys. I try to treat people like I would want my mother treated. I hate it when I see a citizen walk into the station and they are greeted like "What the fuck do you want." We need to get the message out that we are not the bad guys. Don't come in with any activity, only respond to calls, but please try to help at least one person each day you work whether its a citizen or a fellow officer. It is what we should do.

You gonna finally tell the truth about your pathetic main squeeze wheezie (Does she work a full tour or drop a slip and leave without having it deducted) and the other cheaters on lieutenants test? Leaders lead by example, you do that Eddie and I promise I will come on this blog and name my partner who picks his nose is that what you mean by snitching asshat? I say that I agree one hundred per cent. The dummying down of America is in full swing as witnessed by our voting the same asses in to positions of power that they then turn on the citizenry.

Lots of good comments from the regular posters lately (Baby G, Mr. Southside, etc.) Bitter and cynical for sure but at least they're honest. Food for thought as they say. The trifecta of the new Use of Force policy along with the follies of our State's Attorney Kim Foxx mixed with the clueless actions of our superiors has got cops in this city doing some real soul searching. I can honestly say some of the best decisions I've made on this job lately have skirted around the new General Orders or were outright refusals of direct orders from some clueless white-shirt. That bitter and cynical view of our department has saved my bacon several times in the past few years. I don't have long to go but I hope I make it out of this asylum.
Forensic services cars taken for summer mobile. ET's will now be driving rental​ cars with temp plates. Another example of how the city and police department don't give a shit about any of us. Totally unsafe!
