Safe Passage Route?

  • A man was shot to death outside Frazier International Magnet Elementary School in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side Tuesday morning, police said.

The 34-year-old man was found in the 1100 block of South Karlov Avenue about 11 a.m. with wounds to the head and torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed Grenshaw Avenue from Pulaski Road and closed Karlov from Roosevelt Road. Police hung tape from the fence enclosing Frazier's playground. Students did not come out for recess.
And it was such a beautiful day on the west side.

It's shaping up to be a particularly bloody week.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people needing to be shot in the city, and even more people willing to shoot them. You are either quick, or you become dead.

Its time to send in a United Nations Peacekeeping force for this international schools. This school flies an array of third world nation's flags much like at the U.N. symbolizing unity in the international community. As an international school, students graduate fluent in several foreign languages much like math and science students are prepared for engineering and advanced science vocations.

The U. N. must dispatch a peacekeeping force with baby blue helmets, armored transports, sandbag lined borders, safe passage international checkpoints and heavily armed foreign soldiers to monitor the established demilitarized zone. Safe Passage workers would be under a U.N. charter and the U.S. would recklessly fund this bold initiative.

The U.N. has expirience in Mogadishu Somolia controlling the warlords so controlling the vicelords should be a routine task. And the U.N. is represented by so many cultures, nations and languages so they would bring additional diversity into the school community.

Safe passage? In a sanctuary city? Haven't looked up the exact definition of "sanctuary" but doesn't it mean something in the order of a "safe place"? Or something along those lines. How can Chicago be a sanctuary city when there are so many people willing and able to kill other people for the slightest provocation?
Seems like a sanctuary city would be a place like, ah, hmmm...Hays, Kansas, or LaVeta, Colorado, or Grants, New Mexico. Places you can walk down the sidewalk and not be accosted by some gun wielding p.o.s. that wants your cell phone, wallet and maybe your life.
Your mayor needs a dictionary worse than I do.

I remember fifty years ago my grandmother taking me for a walk down Roosevelt Road for penny candy. Lawndale was a vibrant crime free neighborhood with beautiful Synagogues and hard working people. I remember the first air conditioned movie theatre in the nation at St. Louis and Roosevelt Road.

Now things seem to be a litttle out of hand. Schools use to educate students establishing a foundation for upstanding citizens. It seems the clock has been turned back in a once prosperous industrious community.

Isn't this the same neighborhood that Jennifer Hidson's nephew was dumped in the suv? Nice place for a Magnet school.

I think they need a Welcome to LonDale sign ... to bring back prosperity and keep drugs n'guns out, a summer jobs program, free cellphones and free CTA passes could certainly come in handy too.

"Safe Passage" can be achieved by consuming at least 25 grams of fiber per day.
A public service message sponsored by Dulcolax, for the Community.

Unfortunately in the instance cited, the "Community Member" had taken in 115 gr. FMJ...once.
Tragic.
