Kansas Chases Again
- After a decision in 2014 to not pursue some fleeing drivers, the Kansas City Police Department is changing its stance.
A new initiative, “Project Act: Addressing Crime Together,” allows police to pursue all drivers who flee traffic stops, with probable cause, KCTV5 reported. Initially, officers could only pursue fleeing drivers if they had committed a serious felony.
The CPD is experiencing something like three-to-seven cars fleeing traffic stops every single day if our sources are to be believed. Two-to-five are actually called off as "terminated pursuits." The percentage increase is in the hundreds as the criminals know almost every pursuit it called off as soon as it begins.
Kansas noticed something similar and decided that was the wrong message to send criminals. Of course, without some form of protection for the officers, we imagine that anyone chasing would still face civil liability in the event of injury or death, even though the fleeing driver is the one responsible. It will never happen here in Chicago, and therefore, carjackings and felonious fleeing and eluding will continue unabated.

Time to move to Kansas
CPD is experiencing 3-7 per day!? Lol. That's like one day for team in saturation. Probably more.
The elected officialdom of Chicago
are just trying to protect their
constituents from you mean and hateful,
blue collar angst having, Mt. Greenwood
and Dunning dwelling Cops.
"We don't get why you guys are always
so pissed-off all the time. Aren't there
rules against you being that way?"
We have family in KCMO and KCKS...
Imagine a hilly-as-fuck Harvey and
Markham IL. separated by two (Missouri
and Kansas) rivers?
As an aside, we were there a couple years ago
and noted with some amusement that their
fleets are V8 Chargers.
We imagine the smart thing is to just
tuck behind a fleeing felony flyer
and run him until he shits himself
from exhaustion.
...Or misses a turn and tearing his
own ass running up a big ol' 120 foot
"Illinois Nut"(Pecan)tree.
It seems as if common sense can
be found everywhere but in Chicago.
Three to seven?! That's what you hear on Zone 12 during first watch daily. Your sorce is grossly underestimating that figure.
Hell, at least they dont have rahm to fuck their program over.
Shit, when I work VRI I hear at least 2 won't stop for the police per watch and that's on just the Zone I'm working.
All that needs to happen is a politician or their guy/gal gets car jacked or victimized and then you'll have the green light to chase me down. Until then the sheepole will just have to suffer.
Progressive liberalism,
The police are the bad guys and shouldn't do (place policy/restrictions here), untill I become the victim.
Three to seven a day? A car takes off on officers about every three hours where I work in 007, so I think the number is much higher than that.
This isn't Kansas, Dorothy.
You will be hung out to dry by Emanuel, Fox, et al......
I find it disturbing that there are very few people like me in Kansas.
Others find it refreshing.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
The "only" problem i have is during a chase "innocent" people could get killed,i was "all" in when i was a young police officer,as you mature.you way the facts and it always is not worth it....
Whatever. Not here.
Don't chase anybody.
It is reckless.
Please even serious felonies pursuits are called off in 011. 1110 STOP FOLLOWING!😂
I never even put it on the radio when they ran from me. I didnt want some kiddie cop down the road to get jammed up when he saw the guy flying by.
All we needed to do was a simpler way to make the plate hot after they flee.
Then put an impound order on vehicle when it is found.
Again somebody would have to actually care...
Pursuits will always be controversial. For the public and the police. The police don't know who is in the car or why they're running. Could be someone with a dead body in the trunk or some kid afraid of getting his first ticket. But with a media and political climate so ready to prosecute the cops at the drop of a hat, they have become extremely dangerous for police officers.
If they catch the murderer, bank robber or rapist, they're heroes. If some juvenile delinquent ends up in a hospital, the police are thugs. Most cops I know don't want to engage in a pursuit, but they don't want to let a seriously bad guy get away either.
Some type of electronic device is really needed so the police could disable the ignition/electrical system in a car and stop it before a pursuit begins. But until then, its a tough choice and I think I'd back the Officer on his decision most every time. A coward runs and runs for a reason.
Stay safe Officers.
J.J.
OK, let this newsflash to Chicago politicians sink in.
When the criminal element knows you will not chase is they run, they will decide to...wait for it.....here it comes.....THEY WILL RUN. Who the in the heck can possibly not expect this result?
The truth is, they WANT this result. Now that the barking dog caught the car, how about turning and asking it, well big fella, what are ya gonna do now, hmmm, bit the bumper?
See, not only do they want them to run, they want them to get away. That way, it makes the cops look like jackwagons, and they don't take the blame for just letting them out of jail because they won't prosecute them.

Conflate much? The vast majority are regular traffic crashes caused by stupid people just being non driving idiots, having nothing to do with CHASES. So take your couched liberal concern troll attitude some place where people don't recognize it for what it is. Listen chump - it is the cops JOB to CHASE the bad guys, umm yeah even the ones who like ahhhh RUN......it is the job they signed up for because they want to chase and CATCH the bad actors. This is the POINT of the PROFESSION.
So knock off the idiocy, mmmmk?
Remember - when a criminal comes in to rob the joint at the point of a gun and a person dies, the getaway driver is held accountable for that death, ironically and fittingly even when it is his robber buddy who bears the burden of gaining the death he asked for when he thought robbing Abu Mohammed's kwiki- mart.
The same principle MUST be held through with police chasing the fleeing criminals. As long as light and sirens are on, it is OUR JOB as joe zix pack on the street to GET OUT OF THE WAY and GIVE RIGHT OF WAY TO THE POLICE so they can like you know DO WHAT WE ASKED THEM TO DO!
It is the legislators JOB to make CLEAR this point. We ask cops to DO something, in turn they ask us to DO something. We ask for apprehension, they ask us to get the hell out of the way so they can do so. This is not that hard.
"three-to-seven cars fleeing traffic stops every single day" LMAO far from the truth. Have you heard zone 10? They have three to seven cars fleeing every hour!
What exactly are the true numbers of motorists that flee from the police in this city? We need to know. Not just for officer and public safety but for any hope of a change in chase policy like Kansas. Can we obtain an RD number and complete a case report with unknown offender(s) every time the bad guy gets away or the chase is terminated? The bosses have no problem asking for TSS cards and ISR's as "activity". The dispatchers have no problem with initiating a chase ticket. Well white-shirts, a crime (and a very dangerous one at that) has been committed in front of us with a 3000-pound weapon and now we need a specific Fleeing and Eluding UCR code or new wanted offending driver/vehicle card. This will never happen though. The bosses want to cover up the crime in this city. Our only hope is Hey Jackass does a separate website devoted to vehicle carjackings, car thefts and chases to see how truly bad and widespread this has become.
Only Democrat run cities like Chicago have the policies where armed feral, uninsured, non-licensed thugs can chase and shoot at each other, in stolt Chryslers causing crashes that injure, kill people and destroy the property of non-involved parties.
Good for KCPD and their Chief, that takes a lot of confidence and trust from their Mayor as well.
Rahm is a pugnacious skunk turd and doesn't care to address escalating criminal youth violence.
He may even send a letter signed by himself and a couple dozen other Democrat mayors advising to change that Pro-Active Police policy...or else.

Don't take it personally that
shit-head is running from you.
Don't try to overtake a shit-head
with a steering wheel in his hands.
Keep the pressure on shit-head by staying
on his ass but giving yourself enough
distance to allow for shit-head doing
something stupider than fleeing/eluding
The Police.
We like the idea that some Municipalities
have Canine Teams on beat patrol.
Cue the laughter when shit-head wads
his car up and tries to run from an
Officer with a Canine.
Not that any episode of COPS can serve
as a reference of any sort but them
shits still be funny...
>FLEE!<
"I can win! I can WIN!"
"GRRROOOWWWWL!"
>BITE DA SHIT OUTTA YO ASS!<
"ahhhhh-AAAIIIIIEEE!"
Of course... More emergency vehicle operation training
time would be the ticket.

Its pretty simple now

Must be a trend and not far from Chicago!
The answer to the problem is not more chases, its tougher penalties for those who flee. Mandatory vehicle seizure and prison time.
Some type of electronic device is really needed so the police could disable the ignition/electrical system in a car and stop it before a pursuit begins. But until then, its a tough choice and I think I'd back the Officer on his decision most every time. A coward runs and runs for a reason.

The only electronic device is going to be the one on your squad, where they will be able to remotely change the rev-limiter speed so you can't go over whatever MPH they decide. Imagine a remote control version of Ford's MyKey

Ok, Francis. Just remember your words when you attempt to hold your own FUND RAISER to pay your punitive damages.
