Countdown to Bullet Holes
- Rebranding Englewood begins with welcoming people into the community.
That’s what community leaders and aldermen said Friday at the unveiling of a large sign welcoming visitors to Englewood — the first such sign in the neighborhood, they said.
The sign is now at the northwest corner of Yale Avenue and 63rd Street. It features images of the CTA "L" line that runs through the neighborhood, Kennedy-King College and St. Bernard Hospital, among other pictures.
We guess the ambulances running through the hood, the powder smoke hanging in the air, and the gutters running with blood hit a little too close to reality.
We hope the guys and gals of 007 keep us apprised of any bullet damage to the sign.

They should also include on their stupid sign that, beautiful, scenic Englewood was the home of the first serial killer, H. H. Holmes, who had a castle on 63rd St. I believe a post office sits on the property now. You see, the methods of killing may have changed but the blood letting is still continues, unabated.

There is also a statute of President Lincoln (who freed the slaves) in Englewood that has a GD Gang Star logo spray painted on it. Nice.

Englewood hasn't been a viable community since the late 1960's.
You can't make this stuff up, the guy they were interviewing as a spokesman was named Gunn. All they needed was a Mr Link and Mr Blunt and it would be Englewood Trifecta.
"Build it and they will come!" But the only things coming their way are more bullets, drugs, and mayhem. maybe Englewood should be renamed Rahmwood.
Eventually the scrappers will slowly take that sign apart and sell it for scrap.

Haters gonna hate!!! Englewood has brought many smiles to coppers faces and plenty of overtime, including many VRI boxes. Quit biting the hand that feeds you and drink the koolaid! The more attention brought, the more $ spent to make it a safer community. If you see a bullet hole (or multiple) put a bandaid over it. A sign of healing. Now add more OT Police Officer's and OT initiatives to make the dream (lie) a reality. I see a huge pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. kinda like Jessie's "coalition".
No sign is going to bring back the glory days of Englewood. the middle and upper middle class of the 1880's thru 1930's who called the area home are rolling in their graves, as are their descendants. the only reason the "brain trust" keeps trying is for votes they get from those living there now who count on all the free stuff. I have been seriously looking at buying property in Englewood. Looked at one spot where I could 3 or 4 lots for 20000 a pop. 12 lots for 240,000 is nothing.

OFF TOPIC,anyone tell us how the WHOLE FOODS is holding out at 63rd and halsted or has it been run out yet by the youth
