Gun Stops Crime?
- A concealed carry permit holder shot an alleged carjacker on gun-controlled Chicago’s Southwest side on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. as the permit holder was “standing outside his vehicle in the 5300 block of South Pulaski Road.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, police said two men approached the permit holder and demanded his keys, but he pulled his gun and opened fire instead, shooting one of the two suspects in the groin area. The wounded suspect, an unidentified 25-year-old male, “was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn” and is listed in good condition. Although the second suspect fled when the would-be victim opened fire, he was caught a short time later. Both suspects are expected to face charges.
The police state that a weapon was recovered at the scene.
"Community" protests beginning in 3.....2..... oh wait, no police involved. Never mind.

Please support the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill. Out of State Citizens who are legal permit holders in their States (in my case, Indiana) and who work in Chicago need the ability to legally carry to protect themselves against these mutts.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, 53rd & Pulaski used to be such a good neighborhood.
I'm a Concealed to Carry dude, I read the story of the shooting at 5300 S. Pulaski and like the outcome. A family member was an Area Four Homicide Detective for 18yrs. and was the go too Detective in police shootings. He has mentored me and others on the use of deadly force. He always tells us, you are not the police, therefore, when the bad guy breaks off or is running from you, you can no longer use deadly force. Only the Police can use deadly force in preventing the escape of a forceable felon. What happened on south Pulaski was just what he said, the two carjackers (Armed Robbers) were committing a forceable felony; the concealed carry holder shot the offender while he was in the commission of the crime. He didn't shoot at the other suspect fleeing, which would have been a problem. Ex-Homicide Detectives are a great sources of information pertaining to the use of deadly force for civilians like me and others. God Bless our Police Officers and the one's that are retired.

As a non-Cop citizen of this city I would have no issue if I was stopped by a PO because they noticed I was CCW for a CCL Inquiry.
I believe that qualifies as Probable Cause for the stop?

Under Article 7, you may use “justifiable force” to defend yourself or another human being; it is not required that a person who believes themselves or others to be under physical threat first attempt to retreat from the situation before acting.
There is no 'Stand your ground' law in Illinois
Believe it or not, Obama sponsored Ill. SB-2386 law by shielding the person who was attacked from being sued in civil court by perpetrators or their estates when a “stand your ground” defense is used in protecting his or her person, dwelling or other property.
Every citizen should realize their safety is in their own hands. The police can't be everywhere and with the media and liberal democrats constantly attacking the police, they've got other things to worry about. Your safety comes second to their survival.
That sounds terrible and I know it, but this is a result of the liberal democrats coddling criminals and illegal aliens. Sanctuary cities were not created for the benefit of American citizens and if you live in one you should think about that. Politicians more concerned about criminals and illegal aliens should be treated like one, not re-elected. They are not your friends!

If I run a license plate and associated with that plate is the driver's Illinois CCL info attached, what crime has he or she committed? Is he about to commit or is currently committing? Everything from your example question appears to be legit. I don't see any PC. Using a CCL or CCW is NOT PC for a stop. That would appear as though one of the citizens jumped through the hoops and did it the correct way. Which in Chicago is hard to come by.

On the 45 ACP almost any round from ball to an alleged best self-defense one will work. On your choice of weapon, this is an individual decision, therefore, choose your weapon and learn to shoot it well.

Yes, Illinois is a Stand Your Ground state via case law. No duty to retreat.
