Aldercreature Speaks Truth
- The Southwest Side alderman who's under police protection after being threatened by gang members is standing by his statement that "no innocent lives were lost" in a Brighton Park mass shooting and says he will continue to speak out against the violence plaguing his ward.
Ald. Raymond Lopez, 15th, said the Chicago Police Department posted officers at his home, office "and when I'm out in public if it's something that needs to be there" after what officials termed "credible threats" from gang members.
[...] The alderman made his "no innocent lives were lost" comment Sunday night after two people were killed and eight others wounded when two masked gunmen with rifles opened fire on a group congregating at a makeshift memorial for a man who had been slain in an earlier shooting.
Color us surprised. Not at what he said - we've said it for years - but that he actually said it. If you are at a gang street memorial, you are lending your approval to the life the deceased led - representing, robbing, beating, dope dealing, shooting. And if you get shot there, well....street memorials attract assholes...assholes on both sides of the gunfire.

I beg to differ. Not everyone who shows up for a street memorial is a thug or gangmember. Not everyone who is shot down on the streets is caught up in the gang madness. Sometimes, gangs kill those who won't kowtow to their bullshit. Now, I'm not saying that the brother and sister who were gunned down were innocents, but I really don't know their backgrounds, and no one has said anything definitively about them one way or the other.
A demorat aldercreature threatened by gangbangers, the very gangbangers who are emboldened, because of demorat pols voting for Chicago to be a sanctuary city, coddling criminals, and for the police to wear cameras in the hopes of ultimately fucking over the police.

I must say, I gained a lot of respect for Lopez for his comment, because he is right. Both males killed that day were documented S.D.'s...and the female was a p.o.s. with a criminal background as well. Sooo, the alderman is correct, NO INNOCENT lives were lost!

Under Illinois law, any elected official is, by the nature of holding public office in any political subdivision, is a Peace Officer and empowered to carry a concealed firearm.

For the question above about public aid for shooters, there was an MSM article a few months ago saying the CHA isn't even made aware of residents or landlords charged or convicted of felonies or housing-related crimes, though if they were it is supposed to be used to affect eligibility to be in CHA programs etc.
