Free Tip for Media

You media-types trolling here on a daily basis are far better equipped to look into this....if you dare:
  • And it appears that Rahm and his hand-picked board still haven't learned their lesson.

A friend told me that a rumor floats about CPS right now that all of the technology people who work in the schools are going to lose their jobs because IT is going the way of the engineers and custodial staff. The kicker is that the person who is bidding on this lucrative, multi-year contract to perform all IT services is actually a woman who oversaw the department for 20 years or so, and she has serious connections to the guy from Wilmette that hid his wife's wedding dress in the crawlspace of that house on the 4200 block of North Hermitage. This is Barbara Byrd Bennett all over, except the stakes will be even higher with "untagged" merchandise walking out the doors and an even bigger contract awarded. But they don't have the money to keep the doors open.

Are the media snoops reading this? How about either of the Inspector Generals? What about the guy who claims to be friends with a guy who knows Jeff Sessions really well? Someone needs to stop this little Monster Rahm from blowing even more money on connected friends and their corporations.
With CPS short nearly $600 million and Rahm trying to "delay" the summer pension payment, this might be something worth looking into.

I worked as a IT contractor for CPS. They are crooked as fuck. IPADS without tracking devices, chromebooks going unused, etc. Every teacher gets a brand new Iphone every year. Once after a project a elderly man was sweeping books in a pile, I asked him could I help. After staking these old yellow books up I offered to help him take them to the garbage. He looked at me and laughed. Son, these are the NEW books. Look at the CPS vendor and supplier page. Full of theft. Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Apple and Dell. Count up the past 3 years and it is over 300 million dollars maybe more. But the teachers complain of no supplies and no computers. Will John Kass write about this? Pam Zekman runs her parking spot gotcha show but not this?

Really? Every teacher? Annually?
I don't think so.

I will agree that the theft at the vender level is thru the roof.
The vender contracts are outrageous.

Rahm says they are short 600 million and there is a little more than one month left of the school year?
You do the math and you can see how much money they blow thru annually.
600 million for one month!!!!!

Hey Sneed you goof, wake up. Its Tippsville. Of course she is a democratic favorite so she may want to just go back to sleep rather than rattle the party. (I guess she is still at the Sun Times. I assume the Sun Times is still in print.) The sheer and utter democratic voter stupidity is something to marvel at. I know I will as Illinois is in my review mirror.

Mr. Hamilton, teachers are recipients of a brand new I Phone every year? Please elaborate about this news. Never heard about this juicy tidbit in my travels throughout a variety of schools on the south side. The teachers that I do know spent their own personal money for theirs. Never have heard about any special discount or freebie for this item that was officially promoted in the open by the big boys and girls at CPS. I am in agreement with you in terms of how the internal waste has impacted the classrooms. Many teachers aren't lying when they are speaking about the lack of supplies and computers, and the flow of the money for purchasing a particular item doesn't go through them. They aren't the ones who do have the final say at their schools. It's often a mindset of trying to play with the cards that have been distributed to you from the deck. The tales of the network offices, the big girls and boys at 42 West Madison, and the school administrators when it comes to the $$$$ is a never ending soap opera. It's interesting to see how some elementary schools have an adequate number of chromebooks along with implementing a system where they can properly track and secure them, while other schools still haven't seen the light of day of having their students use a chromebook in a classroom. Computer labs that have updated desktops and other essential equipment while in other places the desktops are representing a second coming of a trash heap for the recycling bin...if it is working, it's still operating on XP. 7 may be a gift. Teachers are able to use a decent copier at their schools while others decided to make a personal sacrifice by buying their own to use in their classroom. The so called still good to use copiers that were originally used in many of the network offices that are eventually sent to elementary schools are often in need of visits from a repairman...what are the cost of savings for that adventure?

Barbara Byrd Bennett had a reputation for bad practices (complaints from her former employers in other school districts) before she came to Chicago replaced the Haitian who took the fall for the teachers' strike that Bathhouse Rahm provoked. Conveniently enough, not a word about BBB and SUPES was printed until after the Four Digit Midget slipped past Chuy in the 2015 mayoral election. Emanuel owns the BBB scandal, but acts as if she were a Daley appointee.

Every time Rahm shuffles the deck, the cards come up for him and his cronies. Services do not improve, but the dollars go to his people.

Rahm hires shady people because he wouldn't understand or trust an honest person to work for him.
Never worked a school or heard of any teachers getting free iphones; I bought my own. But there is little to no accountability, especially when principals change. Teachers try to secure equipment, but contractors are in and out all summer and things disappear.

Close the schools three weeks early.

Big deal. They'll miss three weeks of Hands Up, Don't Shoot Studies and they'll lose a few pounds.

Deport the illegals and their families.

Fire 25% of the staff and cancel 25% of the contracts, starting with this bitch.

Start fresh in August by arresting all attendees with Juvenile warrants on Day One.

The last time I read the entire CPS budget a few years ago (around the time the SUPES scandal went down) the largest contract in CPS by far was for computer support and technical services for all the schools. The provider was for from the suburbs, and if I remember correctly, the firm was providing similar services for Detroit Public Schools and perhaps it was Philadelphia.

Of note, a number of the employees I met were children of the ill fated HDO (Hispanic Democratic Organization), but no doubt there were children of other politically connected people working there. It is just patronage hiring using a contract to obfuscate the truth.

This is absolutely biggest line item one could skim from the CPS budget. KInda like when Rahm moved the contract for the duty free stores in Ohare from Daley's buddies the Joyce's, to someone else. No doubt that is the plan with the O'hare CPD detail.

This is all to escape the Shakman decree.

You would think the reporters i town could figure this out. 1) Read the budget. 2) Identify the contracts. 3) Identify the owners of the contracts. 4) FOIA for a roster of the employees. 5) Connect the dots. 6) Publish the info and ask the IG what gives.

I worked as a CPS teacher for 38 years and do not know any teacher who received a phone. I purchased my own laptop and uppped my cell phone minutes in order to communicate with parents-the one phone in the office was always tied up and offered no privacy....you must have a suburban system mixed up with CPS-those teachers do get phones, laptops and whatever they need in order to teach....theft has always been a huge issue in CPS-that's why some schools have the office on the third floor....

Just look at the vendor and supplier payment portal. Even though I attended public school, basic math comes easy for me. ATT and Apple get paid millions each year by CPS. So that is either phone bills or new devices. Period. Yes I am sure some teachers are caught in the middle but when does someone speak up about this bullshit? CPS is broke on purpose. The money paid to thieves is the same amount required for the pension payment and to keep schools open. Forrest Gump does not give a fuck. He is counting down his days to yet another pension HOw many is he working on now, 4? Geezus. Did not mean any disrespect but just reporting from my vantage point and it is disgusting. I worked on several IT projects and the money wasted with CPS is out of control. Guys in the server room billing at 60 a hour not working, unused equipment, the stories are endless and it would just take one reporter to bust this wide open.

In my day, my brothers and I used to hang out with the kids on the block and play cops and robbers. In Rahm Emanuel's day, he and his brothers - who had no friends in Wilmette - played Robbers and Robbers. Even from that young age, they had no interest in anything other than collusion. So, they never understood the purpose of the game. For Robbers, the game has consequences. For cops? Oh, never mind. And to the asshole who said my story was light, you can eat shit. This new contract is real, and it will displace hundreds of IT professionals in CPS, so that Rahm's suburban friend can come in and claim that she can clean everything up, even though over the last 20 years, she was part of the malfeasance.

Also, ask yourselves what happened to all of the closed schools when they closed, and that meaty contract given to an LLC called GWS. If the Chicago Media had any balls, they really would start to investigate. Same goes for the FBI, and a slimy little man named Tim Cawley, of the North Shore, who ushered in all of these great changes, even though Rahm's hand-picked board had to amend the rules of residency for him to be gainfully employed by CPS.

It's time for the guy on North Hermitage to go. He isn't a Chicagoan, and never was. Instead, he is a carpet-bagging asshole who is ruining the lives of the blue star, and the rest of the working-class people of this city in order to preserve his own survival.

Mr. Hamilton, I absolutely didn't take your insight as disrespect. As a former classroom teacher who currently has worked as a substitute for a good number of years, I appreciate your candor. I've always told my non education buddies that the P in CPS stands for Political; if you came in without no connections to the usual A listers, maintaining your employment can be a serious trip. And I'm one of those without connections.

As you mentioned about the vendor and supply payment portal, I have never been aware of that. It sounds like something administrators, school business managers, or those who have been authorized in a specific capacity at a school would be very knowledgeable about this. As the head honchos of IT have made significant changes as to what CPS employees can view when they are not physically present at a school or network office, this portal sounds interesting. It now may not be accessible unless I am physically present at a school or network office when I log on to the CPS network. No lie. One example that I can share with you as it pertains to the changes is that I am no longer able to view as well as make an online copy of my paycheck stub if I'm at home. That's a pain in the ass as I may want to check my final amount if I believe that I haven't been paid properly during a specific pay period and I want to gather up the essential evidence to present to the school clerk or administrator who's in charge of payroll at an elementary school. This change happened in the first half of this school year, and while the head honcho of IT stated in an e mail it was temporary, this feature hasn't been restored as this year is winding down to a close. My buddy who is an programmer stated to me that there are more effective ways to implement protocols to avoid hackers.

As for Forrest Claypool, I made other teachers and other school employees laugh as I always referred to him as the hatchet man. I knew when Rahm brought him on board, that was his sole purpose so there's no surprise there. From working for Daley II on the fifth floor to the Park District to the CTA, dude has no realistic meaning as to what it means to be unemployed as it is for the average Chicagoan who istrying to keep their head above the water from drowning. And for what I've been reading elsewhere, the love nest between him and Rahm may be headed to divorce court soon, so it wouldn't surprise me if Claypool has already lined up his next gig.

When you mentioned as to when does someone speak up about the bullshit, that's a question that is easier said than done. It's like a game of chess, you as an individual have to analyze every realistic move very carefully. Do you have a backup plan to pay your bills? Can you land another job without being blackballed? Some teachers have openly spoken out about issues that are dear to them, and they are now catching at lot of hell for it. Others like myself many years ago in the capacity as a classroom teacher sent valuable and credible information to the higher ups at CPS anonymously. My information as to how an elementary school principal that I worked for was mismanaging school funds from different budgets so he could pay his favorite folks extra pay through additional positional numbers for duties they didn't perform at all at or away from the school didn't result in a quick victory. It took several years plus a potential lawsuit where the EEOC was involved to get his crooked and demented ass to voluntarily resign. So, I do relate to what you've shared here and I do appreciate it. If you don't mind, can you still share what you know about the
phones? I'm really curious about that part.

Yes I posted several times about the supplier and vendor portal. Here is the link. Feel free to add up the numbers. It is fucking bullshit. Go back just five years. What is needed is a reporter to find out what EXACTLY was spent. Now I have to check with my friend who worked at a CPS school for the other information Because if the school name is revealed then people will know who he is. But and this is not a lie, he personally called me up, told me of the phones, told me of the missing IPAD devices, of the unused brand new chromebooks, the brand new printers sitting in crates. So if this is one school, there are many others just like it. If not, then why not give these devices to other schools?

http://cps.edu/procurement/pages/contractawards.aspx

This is public knowledge and for years I have contacted aldermen, no word, congressmen, no word, and various reporters. Nothing. Not a fucking word out of them. One email in example went like this, I said, if a cop shoots a banger, you are on TV for a photo op but this link clearly shows waste, fraud and abuse. Where do you stand on this? No reply. None.

Thanks for the link; I was able to view it without a problem. When I watch the CPS board meetings on Saturdays on CAN-TV and I hear the secretary reading off a succession of board reports by the designated set of contract or board numbers, now it makes better sense to me. This represents what has been decided during those executive sessions behind closed doors. Claypool's,Frank Clark's, and the legal eagles signatures are all over the place for these contracts. As I clicked on some of them, I could have questions that would last for years. $50 million to AT&T? For $27,856.64, who went on the UK Hiking Trip and why there is no contract required? Who went on the International Vendor Trip to Australia and why this is also a no contract required? $74,800 to apply cps.edu updates? For the teachers who need to have access to Gradebook or any other essential portal, they are praying that they don't get the frequent g mail that states the system is down....AGAIN.

As for who has the independent cojones from the Chicago media to bring to light, I don't know in today's climate. I wonder if 20/20 or Frontline have bureaus that do pick up local issues for potential national stories. Aspects of exposing the waste & corruption at CPS are touched upon in cycles. It's like the tidbits once again become regarded as a high priority for somebody they don't want anymore and it's time for them to be exiled for good. I still wondering will Claypool and the rest will ever address as to how they will recoup the $$$$ from SUPES...major crickets on that situation...probably NEVER. You can have a sense that the other shoe is about to drop, but you just don't know about the who, how, and when about the particulars.

Ah yes, Tim Cawley. If I'm not mistaken he may have already been at CPS when Daley II was still on the throne. When the issue was first brought up about his residency, all of the key big boys and girls at 42 W Madison acted as it wasn't no big deal. Like everything else from their perspective, it became an non issue as nothing else publicly was said about it, and this was before the waiver. AUSL acquired a very strong foothold in CPS because of him and David Vitale. Now, Cawley has moved on to the Archdiocese of Chicago (Chief of Parish & School Operations).

For those who are interested, check out www.substancenews.net/articles.php?page=4952
Very good summary as it correlates to the issues raised in this thread.
