Further details emerge at a court hearing. Thank God for Kevlar:
- A 25-year-old woman who shot a Chicago Police officer “in the heart area” of his bulletproof vest had warned the officer and his partner they “did not want to mess with her” moments before she opened fire, prosecutors said at a hearing for Deangela Eaton on Tuesday.
The two officers were wearing plainclothes — with bulletproof vests — and in unmarked SUV around 2:30 p.m. May 12 when they spotted Eaton making what appeared to be a drug deal in the 4600 block of West Maypole in West Garfield Park. The officers circled the block, and again saw Eaton with another man in what looked like a hand-to-hand drug deal.
The officer in the passenger seat climbed out of the SUV and called out to Eaton, who was walking away. Eaton said “she was not going to speak with him, and they didn’t want to mess with her,” Assistant State’s Attorney Joe Carlson said.
The officer chased Eaton as she ran, clutching a pistol on her left side; the second officer drove alongside them in the SUV. When the first officer got within five feet of Eaton, he said she reached for the pistol and he heard the click of her cocking the gun, Carlson said.
The article also says that the bullet struck a flashlight the officer was carrying on his vest, possibly expending quite a bit of the blunt trauma a direct impact like that would have. Lady Luck was smiling on the police that day.

Okay, guilty! Time served, next case. Is that all that will happen for the attempted murder of a Police Officer in Chicago? I hope not, but any time she's sentenced to seems to make little difference. She'll be back on the street, carrying a gun and buying drugs in a couple years or three. Not worth the life of anyone, let alone a Police Officer.

Just had another thought. Since vehicles aren't deadly weapons, why not take a cue from the Tulsa Police and just run over her armed ass with the SUV? Works in other places.

IF a cop remains FETAL then do it but no FETAL DOG-ASS COP has a right to criticize others who treat this job as a CALL to higher service. Look at the quality of cops coming out of the academy no, never had a fight, never drove a car and don't like confrontation, good luck to anyone that works with this type of millennial cop. Look at the promotion lists put out from 2006-2017 the only things that's changed is that cheaters are not getting the answers and getting the merit promotions. This is total BS but looks like nothing will ever happen to violators, for God sake look at the Police inspector who was investigating the LT cheating scandal, he kills the investigation and get promoted to LT.

First off, thank God the police officer is OK. What really bothers me, she's fleeing with a gun in her hand, and there's no way any of us would be able to out shoot someone who is gun ready. So we are now forced to be shot at or take a bullet before returning fire and everyone is OK with that type of action. I'm having a lot of problems with this type of thinking and can only hope no other officers are injured or killed because of this political and media climate.
