Nice Neighborhood Headed South

  • Two off-duty Chicago police officers were involved in a fight with three male strangers as they left a club in the city's River North neighborhood early Friday morning.

The two officers, ages 32 and 25, and a woman were leaving the club in the 400-block of North LaSalle Drive around 2 a.m. when the argument began. It turned physical and the older officer sustained injuries to his face, police said.

The 32-year-old officer was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. The 25-year-old officer was not visibly hurt in the fight and refused medical treatment, police said.

The woman, who was not involved in the fight, fainted at the scene and was also transported to Northwestern, where police said her condition stabilized.
Luckily the injuries weren't serious. But even cops looking for a night of relaxation with friends run the risk of becoming victims in Rahm's Chicago.

Can't say you're a cop to anybody, not with all this hostility going around.
Just say you're in business. in the business of getting screwed by the mayor.

Rahm will hunt down those 3 males and turn them into victims so that CRs can be obtained. The Special Ed will suspend the two cops for their own good till the CR investigation are complete. Foxx will look to prosecute the two cops as criminal offenders. Sounds like the SOP for screwing over cops in this City.

I hope nothing comes of this incident.

And then the media reports the injured officers went to Stroeger Hosp for treatment.........Right away I knew something was wrong....the media lies again....

The neighborhood needs TIF money. Rahm gave away 1.3 BILLION to his supporters and friends so it just goes to show you that the fucking worm has tax money for pet projects and donors but not for pensions and workers. It they did away with TIF funds they could save the city and the pensions. But that would take 50 Alderman to get a set of balls the women included

Why go anywhere in Chicago anymore? You know who the savages are and what they are capable of. No one cares you're the police. To beat a policeman by outnumbering is considered heroism today. Our hands are tied. Hope these officers are ok. I myself haven't been to river north in about 10 years. If you can walk away do it. If you can avoid the usual trouble spots (River North, Wicker Park etc) EVEN BETTER!

They would have been safer leaving a
Capone's speakeasy. Ya see, Big Al had
his own security outside, because it was bad
for business for anything bad to happen to his
patrons. The man had a mind for business.
I guess we're involved with machine learning now,
see, and after the stats have been entered into the
Predict-O-Crime Index, the computer will factor in
friendly forces (cops) leaving a decent bar in a decent
neighborhood at closing time.
In this case, the computer told Special Ed that youths
might be stripping cars around Wrigleyville. Subsequently
manpower and tac vehicles were dispatched to cover the
non-existant crime, leaving the bar in the nice neighborhood
unprotected. But not to worry, key City officials had security
details posted outside their homes at that very hour.

That's strange. The flash messages on zone4 while it was happening described up to 6 offenders, and property taken. Also per a sgt, odpo's wife was in bad shape after being knocked to the ground and cracking her head. During a robbery.

I removed any police type stickers from my car and from the cars of family members. I do not wear my "Trump, Make America Great Again " hat anywhere. Both of these invite physical attack on you or your vehicle. When out at night turn a blind eye to just about anything. Protect yourself and your family. No one is going to help you.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/editorials/ct-new-york-chicago-illinois-bankruptcy-edit-0625-20170623-story.html

Back then, New York blew through budgets and borrowed to spend more until the banks refused. With money running out, the city took on a sinister, dystopian feel: garbage in the streets, police on furlough, health centers closed.
In 1975, the police and firefighters unions, protesting budget cuts, published an intimidating warning to tourists to stay inside after 6 p.m. and avoid the subway. The leaflet, illustrated with a hooded skeleton, was titled "Welcome to Fear City."

My 35 year old son used to hang out in the River North area but no longer does. From what he has said, this has been going on for several years. He has told me that the crime in this area is skyrocketed als0. My son now hangs out in the DePaul area and he has said on numerous occasion he has said that this area is turning to crap the same way. The Southwest Side of the City at one time has numerous bars to go to and have a great time but most are all gone. There is no place anymore on the Southwest Side for someone in their 50's and 60" to go out, relax, and listen to good music. I now live in the suburbs and there are several places where this age group can go. It a shame how not only this city but county has gone down hill. Old Retired Guy

Nothing against the cops involved, it could happen to anybody, clearly.

But as the old mantra goes, nothing much good happens after midnight when you're out and about. I've found that to be true for as long as I've been able to head out to bars (16 for me, had great IDs), which means I've had 40 years to observe the evolution of people's behaviors as the night wears on and the liquor consumption continues.

True, it could happen at any time of the day or night, but invariably when I hear these stories, no matter who it involves, the action usually takes place early in the morning. I'll bet if somebody were to chart it on a bell curve, 2 AM would probably be one of the peak hours for all sorts of mayhem and disturbances, especially when they center around bars and clubs.

Speedy recovery to the cops and their female companion, nontheless.

They can't live on entitlements alone, supplemental income from other people's pockets is needed for incidentals like weed and juice.

It's hard to believe there's still (working) people still staying out and walking about at 2 a.m. in this city.
Haven't done that in 25 yrs and even then, carried because it was the start of the infestation.

More proof that there's really No Safe part of downtown anymore day or night.
Just a few hard knocks and I hope another 3 less unarmed downtown patrons.

More importantly is why when the detective that was initially handling the case arrived in 018 did she tell the officers this would be misdemeanor battery or they were going on the box......yes you read that correctly. Thank God the right people got involved and some real detectives came out and the appropriate charges were filed on the bad guys.......and the officers never went on the box. Look at the ages of the police in this story, I do not know the circumstances so i cannot comment directly on their particular situation. However- most guys/girls with less than 6 years OTJ love telling people that they are the police. They wear t-shirts out in public, post constantly on instagram/facebook while they are at work in their uniforms etc. Ironically usually the majority of people posting are the ones who never lifted a finger in their short time on the job to do any police work, let alone to do a street stop or clear a corner(back when we were allowed to do so). The younger generation has yet to understand the incidents of the past, ex jefferson tap. I support bringing a gun everywhere you go, but drinking 12 miller lites with a CPD t shirt on in front of a meathead bar/club and waiving it around in the bathroom does not seem like the best idea.

The original detectives that arrived were not there to file charges. They along with the SA's office threatened criminal charges , CR's and an IAD investigation. They were pushing to ODPO's to just walk away.

While the day Lt takes her beatings here and there for being a by the book, stubborn madam, she stepped up big for these po's as did the Sgt handling the scene and the case.

I needed to head downtown last year. Took the NW line from the 'burbs. Walked east across the LaSalle street bridge about 9:30pm. No problem. I thought this isn't so bad. The very next day I read that some guy was shot and robbed on the LaSalle bridge right around the same time.

You want dinner or a show? Cab everywhere and get the hell out by 11pm or so. Or....have a non-savage evening at the infinite number restaurants in the decent burbs. Most are the same label as downtown.

The day Sgt. from Area Central assigned two day detectives to follow up on this case...... These detectives are very thorough, well versed and the go-to guys. They don't sugarcoat anything and will not fudge the facts. The midnight detective is a typical poser.

It was handled correctly by the Area in the end.

When it comes to police being the victims, they do exactly as they do for all victims - they put thier best foot forward.

They gather the facts as they are, and present them accordingly.

Nice job detectives.

You know when this all started ? In the late 1960'. The loop shows were nearly all gone by 1980. Riverview at Belmont and Western turned into a ghetto park in the mid 60;. They, guess who, travel North and from the west and the yelling and screaming began. Then the knife fights began between them, and then every place closed down.
Thank you LBJ for the great society welfare and link a dink card for votes.
They are like superman now, leaping and bounding every inch of the county. They just want to be accepted.
The old timer' in the Southern states are laughing their asses off now. Their Elks club affairs must be a gas with all the good things to say about Chicago and all the other big cities with the crumbs running and spilling their free link grape pop, no Tax per Toni.
