Across the nation Friday night, six officers were shot, two succumbing to their wounds:
- Six police officers were shot, two fatally, in three separate incidents in Florida and Pennsylvania late Friday, officials said.
Two officers were shot in Kissimmee around 9:30 p.m., just south of the theme park hub of Orlando, central Florida. They both later died from their wounds.
In Jacksonville, two officers were critically wounded in a shoot-out, while two state troopers were also shot in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
On top of other deaths earlier in the month, August is looking particularly grim for the thin blue line.

Governor Rick Scott of Florida has taken the charging and other legalities from the Orange County states attorney. The current states attorney has publicly stated she will never go for the death penalty. She has not used the death penalty when prosecuting alleged murderers. This is not the first time that the Governor has publicly and legally taken a homicide case from said States Attorney. Hats off to the governor. Gun down and kill two police officers and then not go for the death penalty?? Unbelievable, but the governor did the right thing.

Might I recommend the Rio Grande Valley of Texas? Harlingen, TX is usually listed among the cheapest places to live in the USA, if not the cheapest. About 1 hour from the beaches of South Padre Island (SPI).
A very safe area to live with regards to violent crime. There is property crime, but less than Chiraq. There is a new Medical School starting up 30 minutes from Harlingen, and weather is almost never a problem in getting around. No state income taxes. Great BBQ and Mexican food and sea food. Brownsville and Harlingen and McAllen have pleasant libraries to sit in and read. Churches all around. Synagogues on the island (SPI) and in Brownsville.
And it's Texas. Open Carry is a G-d Given Right. No one here sits protesting the Cops.

I was looking at the week end shootings on Jackass, and see that there were 4 incidents where 3 or more people were shot and 1 where 2 were shot in separate incidents. One I think there were 7 shot in a single incident. Think about that 5 seperate incidents with two or more people shot, and the weekend isn't over yet. Is anybody anywhere looking at this? Now with Trump, the same thing. I have no care for Trump at all but he is still the president, and I was disgusted when they said things regarding his wife and son. You know what made me like McCain and Bush, not their politics, the dignity they treated Obama with after he won. That's what stood out to me. Before you make up your mind what my political leanings are I don't vote consistently for any one party. I vote republican and democrat in major elections and I'm accused waaay more of being too right than too left. I actually spent time in prayer before casting my vote for president. I didn't like either candidate.
It's a shame I miss when peoples' political vents are restricted to thinking someone is stupid versus who hates the police, who hates black people, who hates white people. One of the most disappointing let downs of my career was learning that most cops aren't any more intelligent than the people they lock up. Silly me for believing differently about us.

Very simple...because the media purposely omits facts detrimental to the "type" of story they wish to cover, and then will include facts that contribute to the story they cover.

You might not want to hear this and it's true they are not all on the street yet, but hiring has outpaced retirements, deaths and resignations this year. Look at the academy, 111 hired this month. 111 didn't retire this months. There is manpower, they just aren't in the right places. If you are in the district look at the front office, CAPS Aand the other special assignments. Some units have more inside than outside and that is a fact. You can talk all you want about manpower, but the pension board, the CLEAR system along with FOP have the number. Check with FOP dues they know how many po's and detective are paying or fair share. It's no secret how many, it's just where are they

I am a 3rd generation Chicagoan, rest of my family are Midwesterners from states like Michigan and Ohio. I am obviously not a Southerner, but I did go to college at Vanderbilt in Nashville TN. I made the conscious decision to go to college in the South because I wanted to see something different than this always Lib Dem university neighborhood. The North is a direction, but the South is a place and it's a special place. I generally liked the South and felt on balance that the South had better race relations that we do here in the Chicago city. Southern history is complicated, I agree, but I think Americans should be free to honor their ancestors, celebrate their culture and that includes White Southerners.
I am appalled at the current near ISIS campaign to eradicate all Confederate statues and even Confederate graves. The fake news lying press coverage of the Charlottesville VA protests/riots is appalling - as bad as it gets. The mass media seems to be reading from the same lying script.
