024 Follies

This crap again?
  • What he is going on in the 24th district? Sergeants telling PO's they cannot go down on an event for e-learning they're being told the e-learning is on their own time!!! And the officers are being messed with over activity. Quotes? Quotes are a violation of law.
We assume the reader meant "Quotas" as they reference activity. We remind everyone of this:

As for e-learning, we're pretty sure e-learning is done on company time since you can't access it elsewhere. If there's a backlog or a shooting, you probably shouldn't be doing it, but if not, when are you supposed to do it? We're pretty sure they aren't going to voluntarily pay you overtime, but if you're there past your work hours, they're going to pay you - via a grievance if necessary.

Bosses don't care what Navarro said. They laugh. They know it's just BS. Bosses know they get promoted on the backs of POs activity. It will never change. Bosses don't care about the the new orders and drastic change in policing. They know they're detached from the beefs. They can deny everything. Merit bosses are the worst. The double merit baby sea lion is looking to move up.

I remember a time you could almost take a Sgt's words to the bank. That ended around 2006. Nowadays these Sgt's are simply winging it. Most of them are cocky and clueless. Can someone please inform this Sgt. that officers are enrolled into learning training by the department. Each time an officer is enrolled, they officer receives a confirmation from the department via his/her web-email. I'm sure you've all have receive emails stating " You have been enrolled into a mandatory training...." The only off duty training is the Use of Force. Be sure to request you green comptime slip from this uninformed stupervisor.

Hey SCC what's wrong with you brother. The notice was in May. The freaks on 35th. street can change the game rules in a heart beat. It' like giving a baseball team and extra out. CPD is doomed and these white shirts should be in civil court answering up to their bull shit. Do a reverse on these fools and fill on them, make them shit their pants when they have to list all their assets. Word would travel, us retired guys are lost for words to help you great current street coppers. Listen to SCC, learn to have a smile on your face dealing with the mutts as you wave hi and bye to them.

You can actually access elearning from any computer with internet access, but that being said, I'm doing mine at work. If I have to dig up a late arrest and do the training simultaneously to the arrest I will. They'll probably think I'm a moron because a battery arrest took me two hours, but I'll actually be a smarter, better prepared officer because of the world class training this department provides.

When you are ever in a civil deposition just say the truth.

All those general orders sent to emails with long disclaimers saying you must read this.

Just tell the truth due to low manpower i was never authorized/review study daily emails. I was instructed to be on the street due to back logs and a lack of staff.

Unless the city want to pass out those nifty IPAD bosses have been hiding.
The simpleton think they are the only one's that review budgets and are trying to keep them for themselves.

certain units need them to take piks of crime scene /video related evidence and my favorite access the ICLEAR system on the street. BUT it is all a mystery just like those mystery cell phones that the city should have issued to personal on crimes scene.

The poster isn't telling the exact story. One dickhead sergeant on one watch (I won't mention Stachulas name) gets the bright idea that he'll score some brownie points by telling coppers they get paid until 2300. They need to do their e-learning during the last 45 mins of the tour. While he might be right and there probably isn't any grievance here, is this a way to motivate your people? No disrespect to those working in 024, but c'mon sarge it ain't the 007th or 011th district. This fuckhead is destined to be a boss someday.

Bullshit!!! People were told not to hold themselves down on Elearning for an hour or more when someone else handles their beat for them. Then told to do it before check off since most have overlapping shift start times. Typical cry babies.

Many have said that bosses at silly COMSTAT are still calling out people on their activity. If this is true then the memo means nothing. Heard they're asking for more ISRs. Nothing will change. CPD is a stat based department

Bosses always put these memos out. Then if something goes bad you can't say they told me to get arrests. Their comeback is they put out the memo and the police officer ignored it. They are covering themselves

Not sure I'm buying this. Everyone knows all required department training is done while on duty on department computers. If this really happened then the Sgt is a dope or an ahole but regardless it's still done on department time. Just laugh and tell him "ok then I guess I won't be doing it then." Then ask him to put it in writing and call FOP. Of course he won't put it in writing, they never do. So just hold yourself down doing it and if he comes over the air denying you, then print out the time stamped event. Then let the commander know.

Those Merit bosses see no problem toeing the company line and with Special Ed's days numbered many are hoping to bolster the District numbers. Then there might be a few hard chargers looking for a tact spot, even worse is a beat Sgt hoping for one too.
It's all fun sport until someone gets politically railroaded for a bad decision.
Work smart at your desired sensible pace and not at some Merit Hack whim expectation.

As for eLearning, some lessons can be done at home, but why let mandated CPD propaganda infiltrate your personal space?
If you like your Sgt - do your eLearning on the day it comes out.
Every time you log in and open a lesson at least it's logged that you tried and couldn't complete it for some reason.

Please don't speak ill about all Sgt in 024 because we have good bosses. This it's only been implemented for 3rd watch officers who should have done more ISR's for compstat meeting. Sgt are only following orders given to them by Lts that are given the order from the XO that receives orders from the commander. Now go me some ISR's and then at check off you can log on and do some elearning. Per commander in chief.

Chris Stachula? Was one of the biggest whiners when he was in 019. Cried for years about anything and everything. Tell him you'll get right on that activity. Then do nothing. That's what he'd have done (and did) when he was a PO.

Please stop talking about Sgt stachula in that manner. It's been an honor to work under him. Everyday at roll call he tells us, "you will not hold yourself down on e-learning. Secondly, you will not take 30 minutes to get to your calls, 3) you will not take lunch out the district. One word SPAR and another thing you are all worthless. Now go out and get me ISR's like 2413, and 2486." After roll call I'm so psych and motivated that I want to go out and get like 20 ISR's.
