Cost Overruns? Behind Schedule?

Of course it is:
  • The future Navy Pier flyover is over budget and a year behind schedule, according to a report.

While the first two phases of the long-planned Downtown bike path are set to open next year, the flyover won't be ready in full till 2019, a year later than advertised, said Mike Claffey, a spokesman for the city's Department of Transportation.

And the years-long construction project is now expected to exceed its original $60 million price tag.

"We just know that there is going to be more work than originally anticipated," Claffey said.
Unanticipated payoffs, he means.

I don't understand how it got to $60 million in the first place. Even if you figure in typical graft for a city project, how this got to $60 million is a Daley-like project.

"Navy Pier Flyover is taking longer to complete
than the Golden Gate Bridge"

Another experiment in European socialism gone
bad. It's blowback from God for misappropriation
of taxpayer funds. And the constabulary to keep
our snowflakes safe, where will the money come
from? Perpetual jobs for loyal members of the Party.
Nobody, nobody tried to get a corporate sponsor?
With all the Apple's, Amazon's, and Facebook's
out there, not a cent of private money?
Hope the socialists planned for rest stations and
kneeling areas.

Imagine these corrupt criminal politicians running a private business? They would go under in months. More taxpayer money going down useless unneeded mystery rat holes.

Do I understand this correctly? Essentially its a bike path that cost $60 MILLION! Is the city supplying the bikes too? LOL!!! This is why we have an Attorney General, the BGA, CCSA Public Integrity (LOL) Unit, not to mention a slew of federal agencies to oversee the division, I mean prosecution of graft and corruption. You just can't make this shit up!

Democrats have got to be paid their unfair share. If they can't make a living in politics, graft, kickbacks, etc. how will they survive?
(Nuclear One is being exposed, I hope all the corruption from the last 8 years is exposed!)

Why would you be surprised. Have you ever heard of a city that came in on time and cost? You get the contract by bidding low and then the cost overruns add up and the excuses for not finishing on time start appearing
This should be no surprise to anyone and will never change

Wait until the bike LANES themselves are shown, in court, to be the CAUSE of a cyclists death and then the immediate ordered solution will be to remove them entirely.

Why do you think they are putting them where they are, knowing full well - IN PLAIN SIGHT - that they WILL cause a cyclist to be run over?

I think it is a means of expanding the width of the roadway which creates a "need" to expand easement at which time the lane removal will just be augmented amount of ground owned by gubmint that is then BORROWED against as an asset.

Delays tolerated are about setting the timing when certain things happen, oh and a few kickbacks too.

Same contractor as RiverWalk.
They're re-engineering the Flyover to accept and withstand a flood or two.
A flyover that had no traffic or pedestrian incidents other than the usual congestion that will still be present after its built.
Andy Dick Boy is certain No overtime will be used to complete the bridge to the other side of a couple 80 ft. intersections.
A sluggish trudge and cost overrun will keep the money flowing into the Re-Election cycle with a ribbon cutting by Feb 2019.

The Federal Transportation Admin should halt grants to Chicago until it can be shown how and where this taxpayer money has been funneled so far.
And we haven't even seen the costs of all the trees, shrubs, sod and pissbum bench tents.

So why is this even on SCC? It is not an unexpected outcome in Chicago late and over budget is normal. It would be news if it was early or under budget. Just doesn't happen in this city why, simple it's not The Chicago Way and doesn't conform to Chicago Values.
