- A spokesman for the Chicago Police Department said Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson briefly fainted at an event for law enforcement Friday.
Spokesman [...] said while Johnson was at an event in Springfield, he briefly experienced lightheadedness and fell on stage. Johnson got up and was taken to an area hospital for a routine evaluation.
Doctor determined the spell was caused by Johnson's blood pressure medication, which was taken without eating.
Ed, while we appreciate using you as a comedic foil, you're not a spring chicken. You've just had life altering surgery, you're on more medications than many of our surviving junkies, and you're a newly wed.

Funny, I was just thinking about the promise that we all felt when he was hired as the new supt. We felt that he would actually voice our frustrations and stick up for us. He was an African American and could actually speak his mind without fearing the race repercussions that the former white supt’s had to deal with. Instead, we got a total city hall puppet. He lost the entire rank and file within his first few months and has become pretty much totally irrelevant. He doesn’t speak up for us, he doesn’t go toe to toe with these activists and alderman to let them know how hard it is to be a Chicago cop these days. You can’t make one single mistake or you are ruined. Financially and criminally. Who wants to put that on the line anymore? You are on your way out and had nothing to lose and the opportunity to be “our guy,” and instead you will go down as prob the worst supt in history. Just totally spineless. I don’t wish I’ll will on you, I just want you to move the hell on so we can get someone with balls in that spot. I don’t care AA or Latino or Asian, just someone that speaks up for us. Is that so much to ask from the person that is suppose to be leading us?

The CBC is just a pack of angry senior citizens holding on to the sinecures and hoping they die before anyone busts them for corruption.
They are all old, tired, desperately grasping their power and privileges, and don't give a good damn about the nation or its citizens.

Kinda surprised Dept Dr approved his return to duty. Obviously he is not well and incapable at this point in time of meeting the physical requirements of a police officer. doesn't seem that he meets the standard required for full duty.

One morning, last September, I was dressing for work. Out of nowhere, it hit me:
I Don't Want To Do This Anymore. Loved my 25 yrs otj. It's all I ever really wanted to do.
But when the bulb went on over my head that morning, I had zero problem going in and hitting the button. Sarge tried to talk me out of it. Nope...I knew.
Managed to keep my composure during the last day, going away sendoff. Partner drove to me HQ for the star, id, and shield turn in. I was still upbeat.
As soon as I got in my car for the drive home, it hit me...it's over.
I broke down and bawled for a few minutes. I honestly can't say if they were tears of joy or the realization that my boyhood dream had come to an end. Guess it was the same reason pro athletes cry when they retire.
Anyway, six months retired, I don't regret my knee jerk decision one bit. It was Time for Me to Go. Just that simple.
Serving with you men & women was an honor I probably didn't deserve. But I'm glad I got to do it.

The courts ruled that promotions are not covered in the contract, therefore the union has no right to the test or to grieve the promotion process. Maybe you should attend a meeting once in awhile instead of throwing anonymous bombs from the back like an anarchist.

I feel like a winner everyday I am away from the otj nonsense. Every now and then, when a bit of nostalgia hits, I check SCC just to reinvigorate my feeling of success. It does not take very long. Is the union taking the position of questioning the wisdom of submitting the FOIA request because it is futile? Has the union taken the stance of not having a dog in the fight, so no request will be made? Or, of having no standing in any subsequent legal proceeding as a reason not to make the request? If so to any or all, taking a step back is a bad move.
Perception is reality and many members perceive the union to be in bed with their employer. While the union's hands might be tied in regards to testing or grieving the promotion process, a mere FOIA request would go a long way to restoring or enhancing the reputation of the union with the members. Publishing the results achieved, or the denial of the FOIA request, would leave members knowing the union did everything it could to keep them informed on a workplace advancement issue very near and dear to most members, even if it is not near and dear to the hierarchy of the union or the union itself.
The cost in dollars and cents for making the FOIA request and informing the members of the results is near zero.
The benefit could be the renewed respect of the members.
Is raising the ire of 9.5 a possible expense the union would sooner avoid?
9.5 was not our friend yesterday or today or will he be tomorrow. Why care that he gets pissed off? Fuck him. He is our adversary, not our mentor or benefactor. He drew the line years ago, not us. Approaching 9.5 with awe or respect or as a genuflecting worshipper will get you nothing, but more contempt from the suburbanite who became the successor to shanks.
Renewing the respect of the union members is a possibility with making the FOIA request. The impossibility is ever getting even one iota of respect from the dancing, half-pint tyrant.
