More Money for Rats
- Vowing to step up the city's efforts get Chicago's exploding rat population under control, Mayor Rahm Emanuel Friday proposed spending an additional $1 million to get rid of the disease-ridden vermin.
That budget boost will allow the city to add five crews of workers charged with reducing the number of disease-ridden critters scurrying through Chicago's streets and alleys, officials said. That will bring the number of rat control crews to 30 in 2018, officials said.
In the spring of 2016, the city had eight rat control crews, records show.
Rahm had slashed the Rat Patrol in an effort to balance the books that Shortshanks had left so far out of whack, that Shanks had to retire rather than face defeat or indictment. Rats however, just keep on doing what they do best - breeding and spreading disease, and now Rahm is stuck spending far more than he should have (or actually has) controlling a problem that was, by most accounts, controlled.
But remember, Police Overtime is the driving force behind all that is politically inconvenient.

one BIG RAT trying to get rid of many little rats... how appropo!
The rats are a plague upon Rahm for being defiant
to the Feds on the Sanctuary City status.
In addition to a major city that Rahm cannot manage,
he's got a rat problem on top of it.
Forget all about that Amazon bullshit. They want to
shake a city down for all they can. Once they move
in, they turn the city into a one horse company town
which causes problems of its own. Better off without
them.
The Rats in Chicago are Super Rats,They eat all those flammin hots dropped on the ground.
How about that. Rahm spends a million to hide illegal rats and another million to remove legal rats.Humph!
Does this mean the Alderman-RAT in the 29th Ward will be eradicated?
Rahm, another crisis you created.., nice... how's about.
For everyone else If you got rat, skunk, or raccoon problems--- order some
Rat poison from china on eBay. And stuff the poison into donuts and leave them out... the morning it will be gone and so will the problem. Chinese make some great poison. Stuff at homedepot is nothing compared to Chinese poison
How about a quarter a head bounty on rats?
Let the private sector solve the problem!
The city needs to get and train pythons. Problem solved.
Has anyone asked the Trump EPA to allow using Dry Ice for rats again?
It is a whole lot less toxic than most of the poisons they use, even if they are EPA Approved.
Which one is worse for Chicago, the four-legged, or two-legged rats?
Maybe we can start by getting rid of the corrupt self serving two legged rats in city hall.
Your description of a rat sounds eerily close to that of the average democrat. Do you think they are related
I live in the Philippines and have two dogs, Joey and Fluffy who enjoy hunting and killing rats. Need to discuss this with the wife, but I am sure that we could sell the dogs to Chicago for $100,000. They don't eat much, mostly rice and scrap chicken parts (heads, necks, etc) so all you would need to do would be to provide them with rations, a place to hunt and shelter. Oh, and Joey does not like loud bangs. A thundershirt may be required for him.
Rumors abound that the main reason the ballerina had to add new crews to the ‘rat pack’ is the high concentration at 121 N. LaSalle St. Then again it’s not poison that they need there, it’s prison. Send in the U. S. Attorney instead.
Moe, Larry the cheese!!! Moe, Larry the cheese!!!... No Limburger!!!
Chicago has a rat problem, I thought the problem was "Snitches get Stitches"?
Stop putting in f**king bike lanes
What type of rats would do this?
Police release images of suspects in watch theft from Water Tower Place

Wow they are releasing accurate pictures and the fibune is showing them!
They scurry around Wrigley Field like they own the place. Ozzie Guillen was right.
Vowing to step up the city's efforts get Chicago's exploding rat population under control
Any truth to the rumor that after hearing this 14 aldermen didn't show up at City Hall not wanting to take any chance that he was talking about them.
Why do you need a "crew" to kill rats? Does one worker have to supervise the other? Bag of poison to heavy for one person? Or just more patronage jobs to hand out?
I am 65 years old. Chitown has had an "exploding rat population" since I was bitten by one at 6 years old.
There is a rat lair on the 4200 block of N. hermitage. I saw it recently, and there are some coppers hanging around all the time. Can't they do something?
Thought we all ready got Dean Angelo out of office???
I thought Rahm Emanuel said Chicago is a SANCTUARY CITY, a WELCOMING CITY.... now he wants to kill the rats that came to Chicago to be safe????
I thought this was an article about the aldercreature's discretionary fund being increased!
and money for more hires (not Police) 24 Million

create an Office of Reform Management within the department, with 26 civilian employees to monitor reform efforts and try to ensure officers are complying with new policies, according to the release.
And the community policing program will get to hire 30 more community relations coordinators, the release states. There are currently 47 people employed in those positions, according to the Emanuel administration.
Disclaimer; I do not know if this is true, but I personally believe it.
I have been told that the rats are feeding on dog waste. The high protein dog food, that many dogs are being fed, goes right through their digestive systems. The dog is walked, and its waste is packaged by the dog walker. The waste is then deposited in whatever trash can that is available. It lays there waiting for pick up by the neighborhood, four legged rats. Super high protein food, for Super rats!
How about we eradicate the two legged rats at City Hall.... starting with Rahm and his Alderthieves.
Wait a minute.
Why is pest extermination a government job?
Can we say "private sector"?
Down in Florida they are opening up bounties on pythons.
Teach the chicago population a lesson in WORK - make rats more profitable than aluminum cans and the homeless will handle the problem in a few months.
Does this program include two legged rats.

rat meat stew and rat fur coats for the homeless!
More money for rats? Are the Aldermen and political hack exempts getting a raise?
Funny how the Mayor can deal with the rat problem, but totally ignores the two legged rat problem. But again liberal politicians usually are two-faced hypocrites.
J.J.
Money for rats, ethics training, park projects and countless other deals, I wonder how much money will be avaiable for our new contract negotiations and pensions?
I'd say the human rats infesting the city are far more dangerous to its long term survival than the rodent version.
It's true. Rahm cut the Rat Patrol from 50 crews to 5 crews.
Of course, the rat population exploded.
Maybe Rahm al-Ghoul should have
his donkey-punch buddy Joe Ferguson
to run the same kind of agitation/propaganda
campaign against the rats that he's running
against The Police?
"Hate them because we're having to spend
too much money on them!"
That way, local media will be encouraged
to malign, defame, slander and shit-talk
Chicago's rats in the same hateful manner
that they''re subjecting Policemen to.
Maybe the rats will get a feel for the
"Y'all can't do shit right so we gotta
burn a forest's worth of newsprint,
spill tanker cars of ink and burn a
super-computer worth of bandwidth,"
just to support an agenda.
Poor rats...
They have no idea what
they're in for.
Just wait until Cabrini Kim fixates on them
and subjects them to her peoples and folkses
revenge for ginned up affronts past, present
and yet to come...
Police Like You Have No Friends.
Rumor has it that a 5 rat quota per month has been implemented to be able to get VRI.
1 million seems like a drop in the bucket compared to police overtime.
i think the streets & san boys are getting short changed.
the real rat problem can be solved by voting out all the demorat politicans. why can't rauner use his powers to remove foxx from office.? she obviously is not following any proper guidelines.
Rat Poison should not be put in food and left out,Dogs and Cats will eat it.
there was a rat in my basement so i fashioned myself a fine spear using a pool stick, sharp knife, and duct tape. i got that son of a bitch real good.
Do what the FOP members did in the last election. VOTE the rats out ! Dean took every pin, pen , paper clip , call box , car, Fop medallion and I Pass! He cleaned out whatever he could and still is taking a stipend! Deans riding around in a new Mercedes the members
Paid for ! No bigger rat than that !
All rats do is procreate and eat..Sounds like the district most of us work in
How many rats carry guns? I doubt any of them rats are responsible for 3,000 shot. Feral cats are cheaper.
Trust me no this one, we had nesting Cooper Hawks in the 4400-4500 W. 59-63rd area of the 8th dist. this spring and summer. They were deadly to the rat population, but I understand they migrate during the fall. The city should put Owls and other Birds of prey in the city to supplement they rat control. It was amazing to see lady hawk coming back and forth from the nest with rats, birds, snakes and more. They are killers and cleaned up the rat problem for now.
Working overnight shifts I see the size of some of these critters. As big as a large cat, sometimes a raccoon. Fuckers are eatin good in the neighborhood.
Listed folks, anyone can see Ben and the rats are winning. I head someone in a radio article talking about rats the size of opossum running around the street. The city has to buy a half million dollars worth of new trash carts to replace those destroyed by rats. They have to add five more groups of people at Streets and San. at one $mil to deal with rats. We use dry ice to kill them in their "holes". The rats are winning and the city is on the run. Or overrun if you prefer. This is not news. We have known it for years. Get out while you can before the plague begins anew next summer. That folks is their secret weapon against us. We get sick and we die I tell you.
Back to steel cans, most every plastic can on my block has a hole in it.

Problem with poison is it kills beneficial predatory animals too though. They bleed to death. Dry ice seems to be the ticket like the one poster said. We have enough poisons & toxins around us
To get the rat population under control, slash the alderman seats from 50 to 25.
The Rahm Clown can't even fight two legged crime, trying to outsmart a rodent is a lot more sophisticated.
But Trust Me Cholly will give extermination (he calls it humane) a junior varsity try...because last years attempt didn't work.
Like his Police career, the Sts& San legacy will carry on to failure.
How about cleaning up the garbage first and educate the populous about litter.
CPS should be teaching Sanitation and Hygiene farther than the phony unproven nonexistent black box fairytale.
To think Rahm gave $1,000,000 so far, to fund Illegal Alien Sanctuary ID Cards, taking it from the Taxpaying homeowners.
And don't forget, the CPS Board voted to raise taxes to try and pay down their 2% pension obligations.
It doesn't end with the rat infestation.
Typical democrat problem solving, treating the symptom and not the disease.
May as well burn the money because it's going into the wrong hands.
Democrat voters are stupid.
"People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals object to the lethal technique, with a representative telling DNAinfo that the rodents 'deserve our protection.'"
Yes, let's try to look at things from the point-of-view of our tormentors. This is truly Stockholm Syndrome reasoning.
Don't let the King of the Pyramids talk Chicago into
floating rat bonds in order to purchase a predator of
the rats: the mongoose.
It's been tried before (and failed) in Hawaii and the
Virgin Islands. The mongoose hunts by day while
rats prowl at night. If I didn't know better, I would say
that situation describes the Aldercreatures and the
gangs in Chicago.
You heard it here first....
Special Order 17-1099 ZV
When encountering rats member will notify SWAT before any action is taken.
Sooo which is next the frogs or the locust?
Why not use the police for this problem too? Our guys can make a few extra bucks working VRI, Vermin Reduction Initiative. Best part is the public would never know the difference.
I don’t know, but if some guy with a big stick parts Lake Michigan l’m soooo out of here.

That completely true, the neighbor had a cat that was a rat killer. The cat got sick and the Vet said, it must have eaten a mouse that was poisoned. The cat died in three days. So the Dry Ice is a much better method for all concerned. I do like the story of the Cooper Hawks, it must of been and interesting sping and summer watching the nesting activities.
I don’t know, but if some guy with a big stick parts Lake Michigan l’m soooo out of here.

Now that is some impressively subtle Kessing Bandit baiting......indeed......
Walgreens at 2301 W Irving, rats as big as a small dog roam that building hopping in and out of the garbage cans.Sitting in the parking lot waiting for wife getting a prescription I just watched those huge rats, Meanwhile the back doors were open and two employees were having a smoke. BFR, big friggin' rats!
Among the nation's 50 largest cities, a survey by the Orkin pest control people ranked Chicago at #1 for rat infestation for the third consecutive year.
Have the garbage men bait the alleys as they dump the carts. They go down the alley 52 times a year. Problem solved...!
