Sergeant "Merit" Letter
The Department is soliciting for resumes for "merit" nominations this week. This ties into recent rumors of an April class. We've heard anywhere from 50 to 100.
This also begs the question of how Rahm is going to fulfill his promise of 1,000 new officers on the street by the end of the year. We pointed out already how the total net gain is around 100 officers halfway to the "two years" promise. The only way he gets there at this point is blatantly lying, which isn't out of the realm of possibility.

List still has some life. City hasn't started planning for a new test yet. If you're under 500, you should be fine. Maybe even under 600 depending on retierments/ healthcare options. Good luck!
There are currently 60 open positions for sergeant.
If they did happen to reach the number of officers they said they would hire, the number of sgts would be nowhere near closing the gap on the span of control that the feds talked about being a such a significant problem in the justice department report. I think the final numbers would be around 11,700 pos, dics, ets...(etc) and about 1,300 sgts. Which would mean 9 pos per sgt, which is 2 more pos per sgt than what is recommended. To reach the 7 to 1 number they would need to make 400 more sgts than what they currently have now. Good luck explaining the fuzzy math to the media moving forward Rahm, maybe you can say you made a miscalculation because you were counting on your fingers.
Not sure he said he was going to have 1000 additional officers on the street by the end of 2018. Remember him saying he was HIRING 1,000 additional officers by the end of 2018. Big difference because any officers hired after July 1 wouldn’t be included if he said on the street by the end of 2018 as they would still be in the academy

I was told early on in my career if they’re going to make you meritorious they’ll tell you put in your packet. Nobody puts in because the fix is in. They just need “more people to put in” to make it look legit.

Latest PBPA newsletter says budgeted strength is 1272. Somehow with all the additions to the rank they lost several spots. It was 1190 before rahm announced adding 112 more sgts. Total should be 1302. 30 spots vanished in the last 2 years.

Actually the 1st part is in June and the second part is in May. They’re giving the second part before the first part and you already have your results because you know everything.

This is utter bullshit! Shakman decree says city has to give the test every 6 years. The next one not due until 2021. Why would they spend the dough 3 years early? The cheating scandal has already been settled.
Consent decree is going to dictate it. Part of the DOJ recommendations. The nobles will be happy, they can get in all the new sgts they couldn't make the last test.

This is utter bullshit! Shakman decree says city has to give the test every 6 years. The next one not due until 2021. Why would they spend the dough 3 years early? The cheating scandal has already been settled.

One more thing, the city was released from Shakman almost four yers ago.
I was always told that you have to make this job work for you, with that in mind, if someone wants to suck ass for a merit spot then good for them, I'm not mad. We all know this dept is full of shit anyway, whatever you do or don't do has no meaning because this depart.ent is was backwards.
