Fioretti Endorsement

  • Just 10 days shy of the March primary, former Ald. Robert Fioretti bagged endorsements Saturday from the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police and other law enforcement unions in his bid to unseat Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.

During a low-key announcement at the Billy Goat Tavern on Madison Street, Fioretti said the endorsement signifies that “people who believe in law and order” want change.

“For me to win the FOP’s endorsement is an acknowledgement that something is wrong with our system,” Fioretti said. “To have the sergeants and to have the other organizations that have endorsed me sends a message to those that have been complicit with a system that has let down our communities.”
That certainly is a "low-key" endorsement. It appeared on a Saturday? Does anyone even buy the Saturday paper? We didn't even see a news report. There isn't time to get the endorsements on campaign literature.

Don't get us wrong, we're in the "anyone but Prickwrinkle" camp, but this should have been a lot sooner and lot bigger. Unless Fioretti thinks the endorsement isn't worth much and might actually cost him votes among the low-information population.

From the HOCKEY pro writing articles about his free time
To the budding journalist who believes he know all the answer
To the retiree who barel takes notes at the meetings

CMON ass hats you got the emails use them for something constructive i did not vote for any judges or anyone who was not opposed.

I saw Fioretti at the Fop meeting in February and Graham told us he endorsed Fioretti. Media was ignoring the County President race until Phil Ponce had both of them on during the week. Now all of a sudden the media is interested. Me thinks media wants Preckwinkle to be re-elected

Fioretti is a good guy. He’s always been with the cops. I agree this endorsement is late but that isn’t on him. Toni is the worst thing to happen to the police departments and criminal justice. However late this came, we need to get behind Fioretti because we can’t have four more years of offenders walking out of jail and back on the streets. We had a carjacking case where the offender was released same day on a Friday and was arrested again on Sunday. This crap has to end.

Since when does Fioretti give a crap about law and order? Don't be fooled, he was never a friend to the police, just another cog in the democRat wheel!

I’ve been watching this race. It’s crazy. Fioretti is actually saying and doing the right things. I agree one of the earlier comments that the press wants prickwinkle back. They endorsed her despite saying that she ripped off the taxpayers and her messed up on criminal justice reform. Besides that, she is one of the ugliest beasts I have ever seen! I already voted for Fioretti and am glad I did!

Yeah sure, the FOP endorsed all democratic candidates for every office except for 1 republican. We all know the source of the problems in Illinois, democrat control for decades, and the FOP steps up and endorses the party of the problem. Seems like biting your nose to spite your face. Vote for republicans, no democrats, vote for new candidates no swamp creatures, lets start over in Illinois.

I don’t think Fioretti was ever serious about this campaign in the first place. It’s Crook County, who do you think is going to win?

The FOP is not known for having any real political influence. If that is the best he can do endorsement wise he is doomed.

I hate late endorsements. I vote early every election. The judge slates especially start coming out after I punch. I'm not delaying easy, seamless voting to wait for people who want my vote to get on the ball. I voted for Fioretti anyway so I could vote against her. I was depressing to see the pizza man unopposed. Most of my votes are against people not for anyone in particular.

Isn’t that enough to vote against her. He has stated he’ll do something about croaked assessment process. Let’s start fighting back
instead of complaining and moving. The entire country is a mess.

For those that think Chicago has a choice Republican in this Primary may be not up to snuff.
What Rauner (Rahm wine cork screw) or Ives (Madigan and pension reformer)?
Erika Harold a Democrat running as Republican?
Neither of these 3 GOP candidates are not snuff and their big turnouts will be from downstate, beyond the collar.

Keep in mind:
There are no Republican judges, CC commissioners or endangered GOP State Representatives on the fence.
Not in Chicago.
The Republican ballot is another wash for the March 20 Primary.
You have to declare a Party Ballot.
This is how Crook County keeps getting the same old hacks over and over again.

The only way to rid an Incumbent Democrat is to vote for the opponent and hope everyone else’s does too.
Don’t waste time if you’re going to the polls for a GOP Ballot.
Rauner only garnered 21% of the Chicago vote in 2015.
FYI - FOP endorsed Fioretti in the February Newsletter edition, whenever that was mailed out.
(What’s with the little blue heart?)
Page 13, take it with to the polling place and hand it off to a neighbor.

Prickwrinkles is hoping for a extremely low turnout.
That’s how she will win again and again.

I will pull a Demonic ballot and vote against all incumbencies and NO Retentions.

I early voted for him, we need change he is a goof also but preferable over toni "free all the criminals" prickwinkle! We have tonis friend lori who never met a copper she would not like to fire or imprison weighs in:

Lightfoot calls Emanuel’s $95 million police academy plan ‘ill-conceived’

https://chicago.suntimes.com/chicago-politics/lightfoot-calls-emanuels-95-million-police-academy-plan-ill-conceived/

Why would that be ill conceived lori:
“Putting this edifice to policing in this high-crime, impoverished neighborhood where relations between the police and the community are fraught, without a clear plan for community engagement, is a mistake,” Lightfoot said.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I can agree with this, why not be smart you could build it in an area where police are respected like how about that vacant land 4400 S Cicero the old leclaire courts projects now gone so much empty space? This is directly by I-55 right by midway airport, close to downtown this would be a perfect location, come on lori open your big mouth bet you cannot get this done! the businesses are waiting for something and we would see so many restaurants and other businesses opening to help the coppers which would help the tax base!

Now why else does lori object lets see what she says:
Lightfoot argued that the “young people of color” who have organized around the Twitter hashtag #NoCopAcademy are “smart, organized and determined” — and not going away.

“For these young people, every dollar spent on policing is a dollar not spent on the needs of their communities. Needs like good schools, affordable housing, community centers, parks, grocery stores, job training and economic development,” she said.

“In this zero-sum game perspective, every dollar spent in support of the police is another example of divestment in these neighborhoods.”
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Dam lori what are you smoking? So the police are the problem in the community? how about you lori open that big mouth and say for instance since the 008,022,016th districts are so large and understaffed remove hundreds of coppers from say over policed englewood, westside, eastside etc, lets give taxpayers that respect police the service they pay for and deserve, and lori where do you live? bet its not in an urban area where the thugs and illegals could see you walk the talk but your scared right lori? do you still have security? please just shut-up I ask that respectfully!

And THIS is how you have to do, if there be any possibility of MAGA, ever, in this city, county and state.

FIRST dump the toxic waste....THEN see what you have and, THEN selectively remove the trash.

There are no individual persons allowed in the world of democrat politics and barely tolerated in the world of rino politics.

Only MAGA is The United States of America.

Everything else is a sham.

4:13pm. Right on Brother . All incumbents must go in 2018 and again in 2019 .
Beverly , Morgan Park , Mount Greenwood, 19th Ward Citizens love the Police .
Matt OShea has not fought for the same protection Englewood receives . Englewood is the size of one sector in 22 , plus they have every outside unit , Officers working overtime and tax on a 3 bedroom raised ranch , maybe 1/4 of what we pay . Why won’t he discuss that with the Mayor . Did he buy your community group a pizza ? He bought a few for BLM .

All I can say about Fioretti is this. I've met him at several community meetings over the years. He has always gone out of the way to address the Police and say hello. He has been a perfect gentleman and has always advised those members of the community that were not supportive of the Police to be so. He's got my vote.

Great advice on what to do politically from a guy who doesn’t even know there are no judges retention’s on the ballot. Good luck with voting no on all of them

The lovely thing about voting NO on judicial retentions, whenever they appear, is that your NO vote actually has weight.

It is the rarely provided opportunity of a binary choice that, while not rigorously even, is still, by it's very simplicity, an actual shot at kicking the anthill.

This binary choice opportunity is why the politicians dread a one vs one election, for any office.

Any office.

In a binary choice election, the voting citizens actually have votes that matter. More than two choices has, and always will, give less effective weight of each vote cast not for the dominant political cabal.

So.....whenever one sees a binary choice on the ballot, including the required to be binary Yes or No on judicial retentions, know that you are presented with the opportunity for you chosen vote to have the most effect on the outcome it will ever have.

In one, brief sentence, the wisdom of the common factor so many who actually vote use to pick their pony.

Quite refreshing, given the typical pushy bullshit deluging my mailbox, email box, robo calling pests and the like.
