Cop Dragged
- A member of the Black P-Stones street gang appeared in court Thursday to face a litany of charges, including attempted murder of a police officer, just 16 days after being released on parole.
Paris McKinely, 26, stood before Judge Sophia Atcherson and looked at the floor while Cook County prosecutors outlined their case against him.
About 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the 42-year-old Chicago Police officer was on patrol with his partner in a marked police SUV when they spotted McKinley driving a 2005 Chrysler minivan south on Western Avenue, prosecutors said.
McKinley was unable to provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance when he was stopped for having flicking headlights and a 9mm Glock pistol was spotted on the floor of the van behind the center console, prosecutors said.
McKinley suddenly accelerated during the stop, causing the 42-year-old officer to grab on to the van’s open, driver’s side window and be dragged for two blocks as the van sped down Western toward 59th Street, prosecutors said. The officer yelled at McKinley to stop, but instead he sped through a red light at 59th Street and collided with another vehicle in the intersection.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the crash and the officer was thrown to the road, prosecutors said. McKinley drove off again, striking several metal poles before crashing into a building at 5917 S. Western. He left the van and ran off, but was taken into custody after hiding on the third-floor deck of a building in the 6300 block of South Claremont.
Out barely two weeks and manages to (A) acquire a firearm and (B) almost kill a cop. It's almost like there isn't even a criminal justice system - just a revolving door.

Just a reminder from a retired guy near rockford, illinois. A few month ago a young rockford officer, Jamie Cox, died in a similar incident. Dragged about 2 blocks where the driver crashed into a tree. Officer Cox died as result of his injuries but was able to fire his duty weapon and kill the driver. Cars can be weapons.

So whats his bond? How long will he be this time? Maybe he can sue the officer for grabbing on to the vehicle and scaring him into fleeing the stop. Come on bottom feeding lawyers you can make up a better story.

1) Defendants serve 100% of sentence as described in the statutory definition -- no reduction gimmicks placed in rider statutes;
2) Abolish parole (it's completely pointless and exists merely to employ do-nothing political hacks)

Not condoning any of the offender's actions in this incident, but when has anyone been able to stop a moving vehicle by grabbing onto it? If you stop a vehicle and it speeds off, you have several options. You could return to your vehicle and pursue the offender. You could wave goodbye as the offender flees. You could run after him until the vehicle is moving too fast for you to keep up. You could yell really loud for him to stop, and maybe he'll listen. You could put out a flash and hope someone else stops him. You could pray to the God of empty gas tanks that he runs out of gas. What you can't do is grab onto the vehicle and make it stop. If you do this, you'll probably get hurt, and maybe get killed. Use your brain. Flintstones brakes don't work in real life.

I met one of them types. Pulled up to a unlit intersection, downtown french quarter New orleans, evening, new years Eve 1986 , all traffic going right and left. didnt see anything, gave the jeep cherokee gas went through intersection. Black leather glove grabbing passenger window , went maybe 40 feet stopped, all of a sudden cop pops up at window says, "YOU cant GO THIS wAY!" me and my freind were like , "wow , OK officer, we did not see you". he was wearing all black at night and kinda swarty(Italian prolly, was common cop back then)) He gradually gained his composure, and start looking shining light in truck. Seeing nothing he just siad, "now turn this thing aorund". Which we did and went on our way. Those dudes have far more to worry about on new years in NO even then. Still though , i know that cop got drug at least 20-30 feet before i stopped, Really surprising his coolness. was an honest mistake, i gather he figured that out.
Once again, we have to blame the asshole re-elected Cook County judges for this broken "revolving door" (in)-justice system. Hopefully a quick recovery to the officer!
Not one mention in the papers or media of the asshole being a gang member
