SWAT Investigation
Google-me breaks precedent and comments on an actual on-going investigation:
- A Chicago Police internal investigation has been opened into the serious injuries that an officer suffered last week during a SWAT training session, a department spokesman confirmed Wednesday.
On Monday, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said he couldn’t say whether a formal complaint was opened about the incident. He said the officer was interviewed and “did not allege any impropriety or wish to file any complaints against instructors or students.”
On Wednesday, after a source told the Chicago Sun-Times that an investigation was opened, Guglielmi confirmed, “Yes, there was a complaint, but not by the injured officer. The whole thing will be investigated.”
The source didn’t say who filed the complaint to open the investigation into the training incident.
The cynics out there might think that the injured officer has been told to keep his mouth shut. You'd probably be correct...Code of Silence and all that. Although, once again, it's the politically connected that are protected (and protecting) their own. We have no doubt that if we had:
- injured another PO on SWAT (rotator cuff, torn bicep - still IOD)
- broke a citizen’s leg when as a PPO in 014
- numerous domestic related CRs from female POs
- confronted a PPO ex-girlfriend injured on duty, tore up the Emergency Room at Northwestern Hospital and was kicked out of SOS
- started a physical confrontation with another Sgt over a female PO
- was coming to the Academy and acting psychotic towards ex wife - banned from building
- claimed combat injuries from punching out a window
- hit an elderly woman on a traffic incident and the City settled for 80k
...then we'd be completely protected. And promoted.

So SWAT deals with more domestic-based barricade situations as one of their primary functions. So you are saying they actually have someone who is not just on the team but is a supervisor and tactics instructor?

Ask any of the guys and gals from SOS in the 2000's, there are plenty still around. Ask Jimmy Darling or EFB about this goof. The PPO that he tore up the Northwestern Emergency Room over? Detective C Hendricks, the subject of quite a few articles and comments here over the years. They came up from New Orleans together. She got pinched here and there for shoplifting while on the job, designer sunglasses or somerthing down there, vitamin supps up here. What do these two hillbillies have on the Department that they can act like assholes repeatedly and manage to get meritoriously promoted?

Just because the victim of a domestic does not wish to prosecute does not relieve you of taking action when you can identify signs of a battered spouse/etc. Is this not highly similar???

Directly from an ET sgt... IAD came into Homan Sq. on the sneak and were escorted to the gym along with a couple ETs and a forensic supervisor. They had them take pix of the workout room on the 3rd floor where there's extensive drywall damage. They recovered hair and fibers from the drywall also. They also used swabs to collect blood from the mats. This is gonna get very interesting.
Who needs Swat anyway. Waste of time and money for the city.

Everyone please relax. I trust the department and the superintendent 100%. I’m confident that everything that can be done will be done. No effort will be spared in order to cover for the clouted lieutenant and anyone else that has real whack in order to insulate them from anything bad happening. And rest assured that immediately after someone is killed the department will explain how they were unaware of any problem with this nut job and the mayor will be able to point at us and repeat his code of silence bullshit. The truth will come out. An investigation is called for and the results of the investigation should be made public.
What CPD plans on doing after their investigation should also be made public and why that decision was made.
Exoneration, reprimand, firing or criminal charges or any combination should be made public. Any attempt to "cover up" is going to stink to high heaven!

SWAT...what a bunch of wanna-bee DELTA/SEAL/MARSOC/ fill-in whatever super cool, warrior based title that comes to mind. They haven't had a true identity since they were HBT. At least in those days they were a unified group of guys. Not this cliquish group of lost souls fighting to get in the "cool guy' club and trying to figure out what special forces team they can pretend to be. Lt. MM killed the team and Lt. TL is simply throwing dirt on the rotting casket. It's a shame what they (MM and TL) did to a once promising team.
Sad that the only reason so many stay is because they don't want to push a beat car, loose their gym privileges, not wear their high-speed green uniforms at Starbucks, hangout at the Viagra Triangle, and tell people they are SWAT. Far too many good men were forced out because they weren't part of the MM mafia, and weren't 'yes' men. That 'team' will never recover from the damage MM inflicted.
Even more disturbing is how for years they denied Sgt. L admission because they knew he was 'unstable' and didn't want him on the team. Funny how things change and never for the better...Reap what you sow!

With an entire command on the carpet the guy that got beat up can name his price "at least a promise of mngmt SGT with a nod toward L.T. and as little district time as possible". The IAD guys will all be bribed and taken care of and in the end SGT Swat will be moved somewhere for awhile only to reappear as version 2.0. Thats my guess. Now all they need is something bigger to happen for this to "go away".

They weren’t suspended for heading to the school. They were suspended for not notifying their department they were going there, then that they were there and also not stating they stayed there. Big difference. It wasn’t about going to the school, but not making a notification to their superiors

If I remember correctly both JD and EFB hated this clown and his antics. Also, I think a certain commander of SOS around 2005 and who went on to run the academy made this idiot merit sgt and ruined hbt by getting rid of Bosse... a truly sad day. I’m assuming that this news about this guy getting jammed up is making both JD and EFB smile ear to ear... I think it’s actually making a lot of people smile especially bosse supporters which there are many.
