Funeral "Task Force"?
- Violence at cemeteries, and during funeral processions, in Cook County is increasing. A Hillside police chase is just one example of some of the violence. Chief Joe Lukaszek says three guns were recovered from the stolen SUV, which had just left a cemetery.
“There’s no respect for the dead anymore,” he said.
Cemeteries in Hillside are the final resting place for many gang members killed in Chicago. Funeral processions from the city often end up on the expressways, which lead to dangerous situations. “People, literally, are jumping on other sides of the road, driving next each other, weaving in and out of traffic, guns being waived out of cars. There’s been shots fired from vehicles, as well,” Sheriff Tom Dart said.
As a result, Dart is creating a new task force to tackle the problem. It will be comprised of community leaders, citizens and law enforcement, as well as cemetery and funeral home owners.
How about Funeral Homes with a history of ill-behaved patrons have to post a $100,000 security bond if there is a procession to a cemetery?
- Shots fired during the procession and the entire amount is forfeited to the municipality that has to patrol these rolling disasters.
- A peaceful procession gets the funeral home a refund on whatever isn't used for security costs and a discount on future procession bonds.
- No security bond = no procession. You can cremate the deceased right at the funeral home in the parking lot - maybe use a 55-gallon drum - a scatter the ashes in the bushes outside.
It would be by far the most good gangbanging folks (or people) ever contributed to society.

Why can’t we just agree that certain people are different, certain people have parents who teach them how to behave one way and certain parents teach them how to behave another. My parents would never shoot at at funeral, maybe that’s why some parents move from a neighborhood when other people move in.

It is time for a new Sheriff. Someone with the following criteria would be nice.
1. Law enforcement experience combined with management skills
2. More concerned with the corrections aspect of the job instead of the comfort of the inmates.
3. Less worried about hugging dogs and cats in front of a camera and more concerned about the safety of the LEOs in cook county and all of the law abiding citizens.
It would be nice to have a Sheriff with those qualities. Of course he/she would have to run as a democrat. Perhaps it would help if he or she were a minority. But it has to be someone that is a true LEO and not a kiss ass politician. SCC, please find one and convince him/her to run and get this poor excuse of a man, much less a LEO, out of office

You got it right. A task force with political clout formed to stop incidents that happen once a month. Not good when it happens, but there are not that many gang funerals that happen at that cemetery that justify and special task force

Maybe you have nothing to say about Rahm or Johnson? Just because they let everyone know what’s going on SCC or CCS blogs is no reason to say they heard rumor in a bar (assuming it’s a bar). As with all internet information not all is true, but 99 % of what staff has posted is the truth. Dart is a bad sheriff and if you support him thats your right. It’s about time to let the public know how bad the Sheriff’s office is with Dart in charge. You see Dart thinks his orders are better than both the US and Illinois Constitutions. He violates employee rights all the time and we are now standing up for them (Merit Board and illegal Layoffs). Law suits are following and winning. As sheriff he has lost more lawsuits than any other sheriff or probably all others combined. As we know how frustrating it is working for the city rest assured they are watching employee lawsuits to see how they turn out so they can do the same. As blue we should all be together, they want us to divide so they can conquer. This is my opinion on how I see it.

We used to babysit the caribe funeral home on armitage&kimball many times. Western & Schubert a few times. Agree. They need a “ clause” in the funeral arrangements. Once again.. the taxpayers/including US, are paying for this silly bullshit

I'm not sure I like the idea of going after small business anymore than the city already has. Funeral homes really don't have any control over what happens out on the street during the procession. I'm pretty sure if they had a crystal ball, they would decline to take on a job where people are shooting.
Reactionary collective responsibility will never solve these problems. We need real penalties for shooting into a crowd while driving, like we had 30-40 years ago.
Geezus... another "task force". How about we start with two sheriff's cars - one at the front of the procession, one at the end for the small processions. As the imbecilic things get longer, add a few cars at the beginning, end, middle.
Make the fuckers nervous. For added effect, drop an armored transport at the end for the dead rappers the procession is for.
Charge the funerals for the "security" - $1000 per car. If that means there's no more processions, so be it. If they pay it - and any shit happens - arrest everyone in the procession.
Enough with this nonsense already.
Anytime there's an incident or circumstance a politician cannot deny, cannot explain, or would cause great embarrassment and showcase the incompetence of their office, a committee is formed to study, make recommendations and then leave the politician with the solution which somehow or other always involves throwing more taxpayer money at it. In the event the incident is really embarrassing, the politician goes into hiding or takes a fact finding trip, or other "civic" related trip out of news media's local boundaries. That's what Daley did, Rahm does and Dart, if he had the money would do.
Remember its always better to form a committee to study the problem, it recognizes the problem and lets the responsibility for it be spread around.

One doesn't need a crystal ball - just common sense. When someone shows up in gang colors, with arthritic hands, pants down past their ass, gang tattoos, gold teeth grills, and generally acting like fucking assholes instead of grieving relatives - it's a pretty good predictor that some stupid nonsense will be happening during the ceremony and procession.
There's also the cars that pull up BEHIND the hearse with the dearly departed inside... look in the mirror - see the hooptie mobiles pulling up, bunch of assholes hanging out of it? Tell them "ya'll gotz to wait a sec... forgot sumthin'" - then go inside and call the cops.
Sorry, but I'm not buying the bit that they just didn't know or were somehow "surprised" by the participants.
If there are no shootings or acts of violence during the funeral then Dart will be providing pizza at the post-funeral set.
