Blago to Rot

  • The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday morning decided NOT to hear the appeal of defrocked Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich's corruption case. The court's refusal to hear Blagojevich's appeal effectively puts an end to his conventional legal options.

"Rod, Amy, Annie and I could not be more disappointed in the decision today by the U.S. Supreme Court" said Blagojevich's Patti in a written statement released late Monday morning. "From the beginning we've had faith in the system and have felt the court would bring Rod back to us. Now, with the judiciary no longer an option, we'll have to put our faith elsewhere and find another way."
Political corruption deserves harsh sentences as it undermined the very foundations of government, so we can't say we're displeased with the Supreme Court decision. However, we are still of the opinion that Blago was sentenced solely for going against the Machine that spawned Sparklefarts.

Blago and his family should simply stop making statements. Hubby/pops is going to have to sit for another few years.
While everyone pretty much knows it's an excessive sentence, and I'm sure it is tough on his daughters, and maybe even his wife as well, but it's what you get when you thumb your nose at federal charges and appear on talk shows and make light of it. Lesson learned.

Blago never tried to "sell" anything.
Blago tried to politically "trade" or negotiate a deal
for a political spot, just like all politicians have done

Blago was made a chump, by his own kind.

I hope his two grand daughters know Old Alderman Dick was and is not a good man. He and old man and little Daley really cleaned our city treasury of old ben franklins. Maybe in the future, one of Blago daughters becomes a big political big wig or Judge I doubt she will be a Democrat, and pay back all her fathers back stabbers that turned on him. Blago was just stupid, but old George Ryan caused this state and city with his pardons to fall into the lake.

What bothers me is the SCOUS ballless act, a refusal to define what is considered illegal in campaign contributions. Once they make a determination on this case either exonerating blago or upholding the decision, it would create a clearly defined legal precedence that would many politicians on both sides in the wrong, and force a change of practice amongst politicians. But by refusing to hear this case their allowing bussiness to carry on as usual.

Blago was ratted out by his father-in-law. The federal judge in this case has the highest reputation and was not influenced by anyone in this case other then Blago himself, who was arrogant and called everyone out on national TV. Blago was guilty as stated by the courts and all appeal processes. He could have done great things for this state but choose not to. I have no sympathy for him, but I think 14 years was too stiff. Too bad the feds can't get the rest of the corrupt pols in this town, but many of them are too smart for that and they do not have to fear the Cook County States's attorney or the Illinois Attorney General for that matter, the two top law enforcement bodies in the state that have always turned a blind eye toward political corruption. Many of the things our political class do on a routine basis in this state are illegal in other states.

There can be no doubt, that Blago's punishment was excessive compared to anything anyone else has received, especially those of the Ruling Political Class.(Note the Family Friendly Deal the Jacksons received to accommodate their children's needs.) That being said; Blago always had a Get Out of Jail card, in the form of what he knew and could say about Tony Rezko and Obama.Remember when Obama did a T.V. ad to reelect Blago? Blago was close to both Obama and Rezko. Even Mafia Made Men talk when their "Family" abandons them, and The Daley Crime Family and Dick Mel "Old Gringo" Crime Family both abandoned Blago. So why does he rot away without cashing in his card? As much as I agree he was hit too hard; I cannot accept that he did not use his card, and by now the card loses value each day that it goes unsued. If he is willing to maintain the Code of Silence; then he deserves whatever he gets. At this point, he ceases to be a "Victim". Baby "G"

Sorry Blago, your chances of getting a Pardon or Clemency from President Trump is between slim and none. And Slim left town. Your only chance of getting out is Parole and that's a few years off, like 2024, if you have to serve 85% of your 14 year sentence.

And I have zero sympathy for him. He was convicted on 17 Counts of Corruption and One for lying to the Feds. And Blago has nobody to blame but himself. This is what he gets for getting into a Family Fued with his Father-In-Law, Dick Mell, over some stupid (Corrupt?) Landfill deal.
----- IIRC Dick Mell went on a rant about it in the City Council and the Feds were watching that day. That's all US Atty Patrick Fitzgerald needed and he got the wire-tap Warrant for Blago and the rest as they say, is history. ----

btw: Ex-squeeze me ABC7 I-Team? 'Defrocked'?? I thought Blago was an Impeached politician, not an Ordained Minister / Priest who was kicked out of their Church in disgrace. And what the fuck's up with this, 'Blagojevich's Patti'?? How about just saying, 'Patti Blagojevich'? You know, like normal people talk.

There's no way Chuck Goudie came up with that new-speak gibberish. It had to come from one or both of the female snowflake 'journalists' in the by-line.

The sin to repent here is by the Bar.

When a "Law" is crafted to be so ambiguous that NOBODY can discern what is acrually legal and illegal, it is the DUTY of the court to TOSS IT OUT, reminding the legislature that it has to do its duty...which is crafting and enacting law that is NOT ambiguous.

This is not being activist.

Yes, deciding what is and isnt lawful is for the legislature, according to Declaration within the confines of the Constitution of course. But when the legislature is abdicating its duty, it is indeed right and proper for the judiciary to step in and "remind" them of it and to compel them to do their jobs, correctly.

Maybe I am wrong but my take on the sentence is this: Blago's first attorney was Sam Adams Jr. and I think he is the biggest reason why Blago got that long sentence. Jr played the 26th Street routine in Federal Court. First of all Jr keep on telling the Judge (Zagel) that Blago was going to testify? Zagel made several rulings in trail to accommodate the defense in anticipation of Blago taking the stand. If you remember, Zagel went ballistic when Blago did not testify. Second: How many times did ZAGEL admonish him in court for his behavior. The 26th Street routine DOES NOT GO OVER VERY BIG in Federal Court. Jr played to the one female black jurist who was the only decenter in the jury. Zagel had the jury go back how many times to come to a verdict but she drank the cool aid. When the second trail came around was Jr his attorney? No. If Jr was such a warrior for the oppressed how come he did not come back and represent him the second time around. Jr took all of Blago's money and left him standing in the rain. Think about this for a minutes. How come Jr did not represent him in all of his appeals? In the second trail Zagel rejected how many defense motions? When the verdict came in and zagel sentenced Blago one could sense the anger in Zagel's voice. In passing out the sentence Zagel was telling every pol, you come in Federal Court and fuck with us, here is what you can expect. I personally never had a case with Jr. Had many cases with his father. They were as different as night and day.

Interesting that the fundraiser isn't in Jefferson Park. Prices are pretty steep for a guy who claims he's for those less fortunate. There's a flyer going around with info.
-------------

Sounds like a good day for an illegal parking mission, with a special attention to DUI drivers around that area.

Leave him in and put the rest of the current and former politicians in prison with him. All present and former politicians are and were corrupt dating back to the 1800s. Any still alive should be rounded up like the criminals they are and given a blanket 10 year sentence. Elect a team of new guys to office and put the pictures of all their former colleagues in there prison uniforms in a prominent spot in the office.

I personally never had a case with Jr. Had many cases with his father. They were as different as night and day.

Sam Adam Sr. would have no problem ripping a Cop a new one on the Witness stand,it was business. Before and after he was a gentleman and if a Cop had a problem Sam would come in for no charge or reach in his pocket when the hat was passed,I saw it many times.
His love for Jr. caused him to pamper the kid and spoil him rotten and it shows. I saw the old man hang his head on more than one occasion when Jr. went into the Ghetto holler.
It's the difference between growing up earning it and having it handed to you, those of you with young ones keep that in mind.

Blago hired the wrong lawyers who initiated the wrong defense strategy. Blago made a string of wrong decisions. That’s why he’s in jail. That’s why no one cares.

His mouth and hair got him the long sentence. Couldn't have happened to a better guy.

Blago suffered because he wouldn’t give the senate seat to Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s girlfriend, as ahole Rahm wanted. Why Blago doesn’t just go and spill his guts to the AG and the media is totally beyond me.

I'm a cousin of the Daleys, a cousin on the honest side of the family. I agree with you.

It's like a batting order. One batter after the other. Different strategy on both sides each time, also.

To all you jagbags kicking Blago when he is down, what about JJJr?

If Blago's sentence is fair and/or he should stay there until he rots, JJJr should have gotten a life sentence!

What is good for one, is good for the other! Fair is fair. Free Blago!

Miedzianowski. Joe. Remember that name ? The poster child for getting fucked by the system. That's what this society does, give them 3 or 4 times what they deserve. Joe and Blago should both be out by now. No consideration for the families. No angels but enough is enough.

4/17/2018 07:37:00 AM

GTFOH!! What Meidzianowski did was soooo much worse than Blago. He ran a dope pipeline, ripped off dope dealers, tipped off dope dealers, armed dope dealers, threatened and terrorized cops who reported his corruption, framed people, cheated on his wife with numerous drug whores and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he also put out a hit on someone? This is night and day, pal. Night and ay.

The problem with Blago is he is white. Look at Jesse Jackson Jr. he actually took money and only got 1 yr and now a disability pension and social security to the tune of 140,000.00 a year. Not bad for a convicted felon.
