Serial Stabber?

  • Chicago police have released video footage of a man parking his SUV before grabbing a woman and stabbing her as she walked to the Fullerton Red Line station Tuesday night in the Sheffield Neighbors community.

The 21-year-old woman was walking east around 10:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Webster Avenue when the man grabbed her neck and put her in a choke hold, Chicago police said in a community alert.

After the man stabbed her several times in the upper body, video shows her attacker fleeing west to Wayne Avenue and leaving heading north in a dark colored Cadillac SRX, police said. Earlier surveillance video shows the man parking the SUV.
So he drives into the neighborhood, finds a likely victim, strikes, then flees the neighborhood?

From what we've read about serial killers, they work their way up to killing via different paths. Assaults, rapes, animal torture, etc., often near home but oftentimes just somewhere they're "comfortable," i.e. where there isn't much danger of being stopped, i.e. Chicago.

This sounds like a serial killer working up the nerve to do some real damage. And unlike in previous decades, everyone can watch the progression unfold via surveillance cameras - after the fact.

This kind of attack on the street is made even worse by the fact that attackers know intended victims aren't supposed to be carrying weapons on mass transit... so if they search out victims that travel with that method they've got a better chance of success in their crime.

This kind of bullshit is directly attributable to the communists in Springfield and elsewhere around the state who restricted CCW on mass transit...

Yeah, I was out for my evening jog. Try to hit
streets I know so I can make it back to the Caddy
in case of trouble. Park the Caddy on a side street,
then drift over to the public transit stops and make

Hit men and Caddy's don't mix: it ruins the seats.
I carry a black back pack with latex gloves, a change

Got to stop this shit real soon 'cause we're going into

Plus I got a full time day job so I can keep the Caddy.
Got to hit that sack early.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree with you on the former, attackers do target their victims partly in terms of their ability to fight back, well, their inability as you discussed.
But the letter, for you to blame the people in Springfield is a real hoot - for it was the CHICAGO folks who come down to and dominate Springfield (and the rest of the state) within the ILGA,with Mr. Madagin in the lead, is just a bridge too far.

The NRA playing its little one end against the other and then both against the middle, complete with partnering up with Chicago Democrats to create the permit system out of thin air in return for returning and restoring the same damn code that 7th Circuit tossed out, sure bears it lions share of the blame as well.

Remember please, it was downstaters who OPPOSED this garbage. It was Chicago folks who said please please please don't throw Chicago Under the Bus!! We are supposed to stick together and if we would just get this State Preemption all will be well.

Yeah - all is not well. It Is WORSE.
Just as so many of us SAID it would be if a permit structure was created.
We were right. We were correct. We told you so.

Ok, so you were using "Springfield" as a term for "General Assembly", not the people downstate (everyone south of 1-80) illinois. I ask you to see how people outside Chicago see what you write, how they hear what you said. That language makes it seem like you blame the PEOPLE outside Chicago, when this WHOLE THING is BECAUSE OF and BY Chicago political fruit loops - wholly and entirely.

They OWN this and must me handed responsibility for it 100% of the time, disallowed the ability to escape accountability, even in your stand alone internet comment. Stop using the language of the left, which that is a example of it, to separate yourself from the political left. That distinction will matter more and more each day going forward from here on out.

Why?

Well, what is this about? Oh yeah, it is about LIFE and DEATH, where gun control has led to Knife Crime, gee, almost like England...and regular folks who didn't think their discourse mattered enough to say what they ACTUALLY mean.

All the stabbings and killings with "edged weapons" aka Knives right there Eddie and rahm! Hope Herbert the attorney for JVD is tallying the carnage from this crimewave! Shooting of University of Chicago student raises questions over use of force by campus police

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-college-police-departments-tasers-20180407-story.html

Lest examine a couple of things:
“The traumatic consequences of being shot by an officer of the law along with possible legal consequences and a baseline stigma against people labeled mentally ill spell out a long road to recovery for Charles and his family,” the statement said.
* The traumatic consequences when mom and dad know the kid is obviously to say it properly "mentally challenged" and "off his meds," Sure it is not bad but sorry kid and parents you attack a copper with a weapon of any kind and you refuse to drop it the copper is going home! Maybe that kid should of "wandered" through that "hood" you know when that university is putting out notices to all students about how violent that area is, the "boys in the hood" would of taken care of "busness" and that kid would of been a statistic! Whose fault "parenting!" failures!

If we were just using off-duty Chicago police officers, it would be very transient,” Escalante said. “We would just get people coming in on their days off.”
*More wisdom from "which way did they go" johnny, collecting about $140,000 in pension and this wisdom he just extolled wow! But coppers see through the bullshit Johnny yes campus police help, but come on your protecting your job making what johnny another $200,000 salary for doing whatever you please? Please Johnny we know you read the blog extol your illustrious career tell us how much you accomplished as a "manager" that would be "crickets!"

Academics have argued that campus police departments are being used to market the school as a safe learning environment, especially in large cities.

“I have direct accounts from students who said when they came to U. of C., they were told specifically that we have this big, bad police force that will keep you safe,” said Guy Emerson Mount, a postdoctoral fellow at the university who has instructed undergraduates and advocates for alternatives to traditional policing.
*Big bad police departments lol! That is definitely gone, thanks to liberal institutions like this school, many others and the total failure in this corrupt city-state-county of democratic anti-police anti-laew and order so called leadership!

Like eddie Johnson famously said "I have more questions than I have answers" and that sums in up in a nutshell!

What would U of C students suggest as an acceptable means of stopping this offender if encountering while attacking another unfortunate victim? If a U of C student is being threatened or attacked with a steel rod or knife do you: A. Suggest the offender stop. B. Utilize a taser. C. Utilize deadly force. D. Suggest mental health counseling to the offender. The answer is E. None of the above. You must instead hold a rally supporting police disarmament.

Downtown Chicago double-parkers, beware: Fines to triple to $300

https://chicago.suntimes.com/chicago-politics/downtown-chicago-double-parkers-beware-fines-to-triple-to-300/

Who would be thinking this?
At the behest of downtown Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd), the Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety on Monday moved to triple — from $100 to $300 — the fine for parking or loading in a lane of traffic or bike lane.

Love this line:
The “vast majority of offenders” are commercial fleet vehicles from companies including UPS, FedEx, Amazon and DHL along with “18-wheeler beverage delivery trucks,” the alderman said.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Offenders weird way of saying that there Brendan! Are you not an "offender" also? you know like taking the sign that said "Trump plaza way" down from the man who spent 100 million+ to build that beautiful motel! Are you Brendan also not lets say an "offender" when you said Trump gave you $5,000 campaign contribution and you would return it what happened with that? Show us the money!

The trucking companies hundreds of thousands a year in fees and taxes and you want to slam them more! Why not ask them for a "campaign contribution" then it would be OK right the Chicago way?

How many illegal invaders do we have here eating up billions in revenue and you want the taxpayers and businesses to pay more and more? no wonder people are leaving the 2nd highest taxed state in the country already you Brendan are pushing to make us #1!

What can be said.

Really.

Any time, any place, any who, any what, any how.

The perception of safety is merely the necessary illusion created by the experiences of past absence of peril.

What did not occur has never been an actual assurance of what cannot occur.

Descending the same staircase, in the same manner, a thousand times, does not assure that the thousand + one time you will not stumble and tumble to your painfully broken end.

Being always aware of the constant presence of potential peril AND not being consumed by the emotional strain of said constant awareness is an ability most often shunned by many, but only when & where circumstances are constantly suitable to indulge in said shunning.

The individual who chooses to develop a constant state of awareness AND maintains the ability to savor each moment, despite said constant state, is the one who has sought and found the truly valuable purpose of existence, said purpose determined by each as to their choosing.

Finite as existence is, the value of being capable of both constant awareness and savoring of each moment of same cannot be overestimated.

To be dependent upon the illusion of safety is to be more vulnerable to the perils pretended to not be.

There is no easy substitute for constant awareness of potential peril, no matter how fervently one craves to not have to experience it.

The emotion of Fear + the sensations of Pain = Pay attention, bucko, this world ain't meant to be the place of Bliss.

If you thought for a moment that the City Council’s most powerful aldermen would ride off into the sunset after 50 years in politics to avoid a difficult election he could lose, think again.

Ald. Edward M. Burke (14th), chairman of the City Council’s Finance Committee, is running for re-election'

well it looks like matt cline and his buddies will be getting another promotion

Burke has a political bull’s-eye on his back after his brother, state Rep. Dan Burke (D-Chicago), was defeated by 26-year political newcomer Aaron Ortiz in a race dominated by Edward Burke’s property tax reduction work for the riverfront hotel and condominium that bears the name of President Donald Trump.

But, Ald. Burke said Monday he does not believe his brother’s March 20 defeat is a prelude to his own political demise.

“He carried the 14th Ward. Not by enough to overcome the other areas. But fortunately, the people in the 14th Ward did vote for him,” the alderman said.

Ortiz was part of a coordinated campaign led by Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, the Cook County commissioner who easily won the Democratic primary in the 4th Congressional District after being anointed by retiring U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez.

Even more humiliating was the fact that Edward Burke managed to carry his own 14th Ward for his younger brother by just 62 votes. That’s the same 14th Ward where Garcia captured 64 percent of the vote in a 2015 mayoral run-off against incumbent Rahm Emanuel.

On the day after that upset, Clem Balanoff, head of Our Revolution Illinois, a grass-roots political organization that grew out of Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, made a bold prediction:

“We are coming after Ed Burke,” said Balanoff, who managed the Ortiz campaign.

“Whether he sees it or not, the handwriting is on the wall. Ed Burke will not be aldermen come May of 2019. … We have a young, energetic movement going on the Southwest Side of Chicago. There’s no room for smoke-filled, backroom politicians like Ed Burke, who are only serving themselves and not the public.”

Garcia was asked on the day after the election whether he intended to field an aldermanic challenger against Burke.

He would say only: “The Burke dynasty is sunsetting. It’s sunsetting against the emergence of a Latino community that wants to make its voice heard and its vote felt. … This is only logical. The community is seeking to ensure that its vote begins to approximate the population that lives in those communities.”

Burke has run unopposed in 10 of the last 11 elections. He sits on a massive campaign war chest and has never won less than 70 percent of the vote.

But even his political allies have acknowledged that Dan Burke’s March 20 defeat was a gut-punch that should prompt Edward Burke to at least entertain the thought of political retirement and working with Garcia to find a suitable Hispanic replacement.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-alderman-ed-burke-2019-election-20180416-story.html

it's not what Eddie said it is what he has not said:
Ald. Ed Burke said Monday he’s not worried about losing the seat he’s held since 1969 to a progressive Democrat in next year’s city election, but the 74-year-old City Hall power broker also stopped short of saying he’d run for an unprecedented 13th full term.

#maybe its time to move out! Looks like Chicago is becoming more and full of illegals and the taxpayers are getting out while they can, after all we are the 2nd highest taxed city/state in the country!

Then you read that they are going to make toll lanes on I-55 the Stevenson from 90/94 all the way to 355, but they will still be no charge lanes that of course will be jammed constantly! Then Brenda Reilly is making a law to tax the shit on trucks delivering downtown while they already pay tens of thousands in fees and taxes just to have those delivery vehicles which are needed to keep supplying merchants! Just keep raising the taxes and giving away billions to illegal criminals and thugs as we watch the elected boldly break federal laws with no regard for "being lawful!" the law abiding in chiraq are the dinosaurs and dinosaurs adapt or become extinct and many are leaving this corruption and their money will eventually become extinct also!

what have we here? OK Breanda said that he would return the money that president trump gave him and Rahm got $50,000 strange you don't like the man and keep his money?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-sta-campaign-2016-illinois-donations-st-0914-20160913-story.html

Trump has also donated to the Cook County Democratic Party, Democratic U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and Chicago Alderman Brendan Reilly. Trump's largest contribution was a $50,000 donation to former Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel's mayoral campaign in December 2010. OK maybe long ago, this is like your with a woman and she discovers your a dirtbag and refuses to return the ring and other gifts after she tells her friends "I am done and returning all of his shit!" Would this be a lie then?

Just wondering if there's been a spike in stabbings after ShotSpotter has been installed. SS in is about 70 U.S. cities now, and adding more. Have we exchanged an impersonal crime (shootings) with a more up close and personal crime (stabbings)? Something for the guys at Booth to work on between beer pong.

No worries. Chicago is in the midst of purchasing SharpEdge technology. It finds and grabs the location of any knife, machete, sword, lance, spear or sharp metal edge with a handle being carried on the public way.

The next technological purchase will be StabberGrabber which will identify when, where and by whom the aforementioned sharp-edged instruments have opened human skin in any manner, be it a slice, slash, stab or puncture.

And finally, the city is going to launch CashVacuum technology. Instead of indirectly wasting taxpayer money with all of these hocus-pocus alleged technology advancements, CashVacuum finds and locates any person on the public way with more than $500 in their pocket, then sucks it out and immediately sends it to the city treasurer where it is undedicated and can be directly wasted on non-specifically identified nonsense.

Thats from Feb 2018.

Its still in Committee while Burnett and Mell figure out if the IBM Software used to process tickets can handle a Ordinance with a Two Tiered Fine.

Currently it can't. Canvas is a out dated, obsolete program.

I'm sure all the criminals are thankful of all the possible ways to solve the case that are mentioned here. I'm sure the dics would have never known where to begin. We should be thankful the posters have this blog to advise the department how to identify an offender.

Why do retired LEOs get hosed on the cost of the retired c/c?
It shouldn't cost $100 bucks a year to have a permit. It's bad enough Rahm cut off health insurance to a ton of retirees, but the cost of the Retired c/c shouldn't be $100 bucks a year. Can the FOP do something about this, or our congressmen/senators?

True and don't forget the Cadillac all have the "on star" system that is a tracking device even if you don't pay for subscription it is still working in case you need 911!

4/16/2018 04:24:00 PM

Unless the OnStar module was removed from the vehicle, or the fuse powering it removed. I had a Chevy that came with that as a feature - I told them not to activate it, and they did. They wouldn't turn it off, so I dug around on the internet, found the location of it, and removed it. It has a 3 Watt cell phone module in it - gone. Replaced it with something called a "CoStar" - basically plugs right into the same spot, but lets you use the internal microphone and speakers to pair via bluetooth on a cell phone...

Yeah, the automatic features that call 911 when you crash the car don't work, but I'd rather have my privacy...

Now, now.....let's not be projecting here.....

Mostly is a word best left to the thoughtful to apply....

The lunacy, (from the historical theories of behaviors considered crazy to be correlated with the lunar cycles), you observe in those that control substantial aspects of our city governmental authorities, is actually not a display of forms of insanity; to their chosen values, of: greed, avarice, hubris, arrogance, lust, gluttony, vanity, dishonesty, deception, connivery, scheming, scamming, disdain, contempt, craven calculations, degeneracy, feral ambitions, etc., their choices are predictably consistent.

As for the population, depending upon chosen geographical area, most are just living to their best means of being, with their every breath, who they intend to always be, after breath leaves them and they leave this world.

Even those who may not either have given much thought to it, or are hesitant to share what thoughts they have on this, exhibit in their daily activities their intent to live in the flesh as they intend to always be.

Were the above to be false, the entire city population would be as the feckless fucks choose to be, and the streets would truly be constantly awash in blood and entrails, with never a moment not so.

Place blame upon those who are to blame, not upon those fully occupied with living their lives as best as one can.

You do realize this to be so, don't you?

There's no quarrel about the advisories the CPD sends out regarding crime patterns and the like. But somewhere there's a subliminal message that admits to the taxpayers what's been said on this blog for years. There's not enough manpower. The consolidation of beats and districts is a shell game. Residents living in highly taxed neighborhoods see skeletal staffing and most patrols are directed to the troubled side of their districts. The tax base continues to shrink while the creative minds at city hall and the county building think of new ways to squeeze the taxpayers. Chicago gets more unaffordable every day. And yet with all this going on, the city council approves payout after payout to any lawsuit that lands in the corporation councils office. And with the elections coming up next year, are the McDonalds gonna make an endorsement for their 9 fingered benefactor?

The HR218 program was fought tooth, hook and nail by Daley and the dumbocrats. When it finally became law, again it was fought at the Illinois level. The only way the Illinois legislature would pass it wwa that it had to be self-funded. No state money is slotted for it.

Got to have money for the illegals and welfare.

I can tell you why. Originally when it started the administration didn’t want IROCC and did everything to stop it. Retirees had to get required iproof of employment from the pension board, not the CPD or city hall because they wouldn’t provide it. Also at that time no shoots on academy range which has changed
Back to your question of $100. The city and state provided no funding so the IROCC is self funded by the $100 fee you are charged. That pays for the instructors, ranges, rent and all the administrative salaries and costs. That’s why it is high

Sounds like KNIFE VIOLENCE!!

Chicago needs to BAN KNIVES! Yes like the UK.

Make a law that says all knives must be 'butter knives' with no pointy ends or sharp edges!

That would solve their problems! Utopia would be within reach!

Remember who was governor and the simpleton who designed the carry conceal law in Illinois. That was the simpleton Northside Quinn. Typical Northside liberal Weber H.S. Dope. They think that being pimpy is a sign of intelligence like putting little red stickers on business doors. Man, that really worked didn't it! It really stopped the crime on the CTA and not to mention schools.

IROCC $100 per year. And I thought CCW $150 / 5 years was bad. But the IROCC exempts you from the no-go areas, so there's that. My Utah CCW cost like $50-55 and only $15 for a five year renewal. IL should have made the renewal a lot less. Fuckers. And IL not recognizing any other states is a real dick move. At least some states recognize the IL permit. Time for National Reciprocity gentlemen.
