There She Goes

  • In 2007, Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown explained her landslide loss to then-Mayor Richard M. Daley by saying voters did not “understand the magnitude of the crime and corruption” that had occurred on Daley’s watch.

With Brown poised to enter her second race for mayor, black elected officials and political pundits are making similar claims about her.

They can’t understand why she’s running for mayor instead of running for cover four years into a federal grand jury investigation into alleged job- and promotion-selling in her office that has already bagged two targets.
It sure looks like she's been promised something, though what we have no idea.

Now we just need an Hispanic to complete the charade. Who is Chewy pushing? Is Gutierrez coming out of the closet woodwork?

Rhams plant to get reelected... that sly devil is something else. If you can not see he is doing this shit-- you are one dumb piece of shit. Rham will be re-elected with like 20% of the vote. bill Clinton was elected with about 38% in 1992. Fuck you Ross Perot

She should learn a lesson from Blago. When you’re under fire, shut your damn mouth and be humble. That’s why Blago got nailed so bad. He was a big mouth and basically dared them. Dumbass. No wigs in jail!

I am shocked that she engaged in those activities.
With Jackson and Sharpton around as mentors,
she failed herself and her community. A very bad
example of the women's movement. In the end,
she let her own children down, lead them astray,
and showed them nothing more than a tarnished
role model.
In the end, everything was for sale, and there was
a price on everything. So much for the judicial
system using Blago as an example to deter future
behavior.

The election of Dorothy Brown reflects how polarized Chicago and Cook County politics are, where elected offices are doled-out according to predetermined race-based assignment rather than competency, genuine competition for endorsements, and/or voters' best interest. The delayed (or absence of) indictment of Brown on corruption charges reflects how incompetent and politicized our State and Federal justice departments are here in Chicago/Cook County, where apparently it's deemed imprudent and ill-advised to actually investigate and prosecute our obviously corrupt politicians.

Do we have a single "clean" politician within Chicago? Within Cook County? Really?

Oh, I won't be surprised if Brown's mayoral campaign is primarily funded by savvy Rahm-supporters who seek to curry his favor, if not furtively by Rahm's own campaign war-chest. It's sad that Rahm thinks so poorly of the Chicago black voters to think that they can be persuaded to vote for Brown simply because she's black. It's even sadder to think that this premise is probably accurate, and that Brown would successfully divert votes from Vallas and McCarthy.

Rahm, are you and your minions reading this blog? If you want to win this election, why don't you FINALLY FOCUS ON ADDRESSING MIDDLE-CLASS VOTERS' CONCERNS: our city is in deep decline. We voters need to see a vigorous turn-around plan that tackles issues of too high taxation of your middle-class population, too much crime within middle-class (and even upper-income) neighborhoods, far too much feather-bedding patronage and municipal resources wasted on "optics", and far too much coddling of low-income/no-income constituents who receive a disproportionate amount of attention and financial resources while contribute very little to the overall well-being of our city. Chicago has a reputation of being a crime-riddled city, a corrupt city, the city with the slimmest economic-recovery post 2008 and with the lowest housing-price recovery as well.

What a complete embarrassment, both to the DemocRATic party and the City of Chicago. Under federal investigation and she decides to run for mayor? I don't know which is more stupid, her for her decision to run for mayor, or anyone that would actually vote for her.

Her time as Clerk of the Cook County Court has been a complete failure. She should have modernized the court system to allow for electronic filing and get out of the 1970's mainframe age a long, long time ago. The public and the legal community deserve this. And the Illinois Supreme Court gave her a deadline for implementation which of course she did not meet.

She can't even run the court system. And now she thinks she can run the entire city? Give me a break.

Call the next case. Not a cop.

Just as the perennial political sad sack Carol Mostly-Braun...collect those campaign funds and stiff the creditors under the guise of a having a genuine platform for elected office.
Think about Blago (not taking a dollar that Fed knows of) makes Brown look like she’s Fccking Golden and why oh why so untouchable?
Why is a corruption suspect still allowed to continue to operate a city office?
Should be suspended without pay, right ?

Could it also be that Browns entering the mayoral race has more to do with her attempting to bolster her anemic campaign coffers for mounting legal fees brought on by the federal case against her? I'm not sure but I think you might have your tinfoil hat on backwards, sport.

While I agree this is a setup for the election you do not understand how the Mayor election works. A candidate needs 50% plus one vote to win the election. All of these candidates are being put in place so Rham is guaranteed to be in the top two in the primary ensuring he makes it to the general election in April where only the top two vote getters get to run. He will then be up against whoever manages to come in second ensuring Rham’s win. Set up yes but nobody can win getting only 20%.

Great leaders! God help us......

Kim Foxx draws kudos in D.C. but mum on ambitions
She has been in office for only a little more than a year, but Cook County’s top prosecutor Kim Foxx is already attracting attention on the national stage.

Foxx on Wednesday night was feted by the Democrats’ Washington, D.C., elite at a gala dinner where she received the Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award from Emily’s List, the major committee that works to elect pro-choice women nationwide.

The state’s attorney shared a table with U.S. Sen. Cory Bookerand met with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at the event.

That’s the kind of clout that would be very helpful in a run for higher office.

But asked by Chicago Inc. about her long-term ambitions, Foxx said all of the things you’d expect a neophyte politician to say about focusing on her current job and how she had “so much to do.”

Foxx gave a touching, well-received acceptance speech about her late grandmother, Myrtle Wilson, who would have turned 100 earlier this month. Wilson, who was born the daughter of an Arkansas sharecropper, came to Chicago in the great migration and helped her teenage daughter “guide me through a world that challenged our very existence,” Foxx said.

They had posted comments years ago that Ms Brown had messed up the clerk's office with files missing and unable to find information on cases. It turned out that an employee was stealing files and taking them home and shredding them obviously, to get Ms Brown kicked out of office. Other complaints such as blue jean day were instituted by previous administrations and employees blamed the wrong person, Ms Brown. The FBI is not always right especially when it comes to blacks. They just don't believe they can be wrong. I agree with he recent comments that everyone who lied on her should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and the FBI needs to stop this false investigation now.

Guess that would take care of the over population worriers. No justification for that number but billion sounds better then million. One could only hope that number would include Mr. Moonbeam himself. Sorry Jerry your time in the sun should be up sooner than later. Got to laugh at the time in the sun comment. LOL.
