Old Tricks Aren't Working

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s latest attempt to get Chicago cops and firefighters to spread out into the city’s struggling neighborhoods has yet to draw much interest.

Six months after the mayor dangled a monetary carrot to try to get them to purchase homes in high-crime parts of the South and West sides, just two police officers have taken advantage, according to the city Department of Planning and Development. And both closed on houses in the South Side Chatham neighborhood that’s already known as a favorite landing spot for first responders and other city workers.

Emanuel’s program offers $30,000 loans to police officers and firefighters to buy a home in certain more violent areas of the city. If they stay for at least 10 years, they don’t have to pay the city back. It’s an idea employed by former Mayor Richard M. Daley in previous decades that Emanuel restarted last year.
It's almost like cops don't want to live in the shitholes they patrol. Or maybe the young coppers aren't going to be sticking around long enough to raise a family or something. If the northsiders stick around long enough and alderasshole Arena gets his way, Jefferson Park will be on the list of shitholes eligible for the loan.

Maybe Rahm can take the $3 million set aside and use it to fund pensions? Medical coverage for retirees?

Let alone unduly exposing their family/loved ones

Why subject yourself to the greatly increased

Aren't there enough horror stories about the Coppers

We know of NO ONE who caught the wave on a neighborhood

a Police family.

If anything, many were the tales that narrated

And Fuck Rahm.

Like other city workers, Chicago police and firefighters are required to live in the city limits, and they have long clustered in a handful of neighborhoods. Chatham has for decades been a South Side focal point for African-American city employees, and home to lots of cops. Beverly, Garfield Ridge, Bridgeport, Jefferson Park, Portage Park and Edison Park are also among the neighborhoods with more than their fair share of municipal workers.

I think it’s great no one is buying into this bs program. I love the last line to the above paragraph, “neighborhoods with more than their fair share of municipal workers.” What the hell does that mean exactly? Isn’t this still a free country. We have to live in the city which is bad enough now they think they have the right to tell us where exactly in the city they would like us to live. Unfrickenbelievable. By the way I thought most people hate us so just leave us alone and you politicians can figure out how to clean up the rest the city. It’s not our problem any more you’ve made that crystal clear.

If these miscreant politicians, both city and county, truly wanted to provide a financial incentive, for the sincere purpose of infusing sanity into these areas of feckless, reckless depravities, both city & county would:

1. Perform a fresh Inventory on all city owned lots, vacant or not, within the designated areas.

2. Perform a fresh Inventory on all the county owned lots, vacant or not, within the designated areas.

3. Offer single, residential zoned lots for $1, to any defined city employee, with a 10 year no sale + required build on vacant or rehab on structured, completed within 1st year + occupy for the remaining 9 years, after which, full possession is achieved + city/county guaranteed $200,000 loan.

4. Apply similar above terms to city/county owned commercial zoned properties, within the designated areas, requirements adjusted for business/commercial contribution.

5. Alter county tax sale of delinquent properties to define as 1st choice, no matter what speculative bids are submitted, to the above classifications of city/county employees desired to inhabit specified areas in dire need of infused sanity.

6. Define safeguards, with criminal penalties, to filter out the scammers, of which there will be many, (akin to straw purchases of firearms), and set standards of applicants to be the same as those required for defined city/county employment.

7. Perform fresh inventory of all properties purchased at county tax auctions, within the designated areas, for the past 30 years, publishing all which are currently vacant, with or without structures, with the identities of ownership for each.

If these specific areas of the city are so fucking needful, actions must be taken. Not pathetic, feeble, designed to fail, pandering bullshitting.

SOUNDS LIKE SHITCAGO, DOESN'T IT - From Boston's Howie Carr:

Officer Sean Gannon is being buried this morning down on the Cape, and people are asking, how was this dirtball Thomas Latanowich still on the street with 125 strikes at the age of 29?

The answer is, welcome to Massachusetts.

Officer Gannon was murdered in cold blood last Thursday. Less than 24 hours later, in a bitter irony, a moment of silence was observed at the State House Friday afternoon, just before Gov. Charlie “Tall Deval” Baker signed into law a “sweeping” — read, terrible — reform of the criminal-justice laws in Massachusetts.

Oh sure, the bill was passed overwhelmingly by the Legislature, and both Tall Deval and House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo said this latest effort to make life easier for thugs would have had no effect on Latanowich — how could it, after all, because he was already a free man, a felon with an unregistered weapon?

Actually, the original proposals in the bill were even worse. One of them would have defined “juveniles” as any gangbanger up to the age of 24. Think about that one — the same type of politicians who in D.C. are trying to cut the voting age to 16 wanted to make it almost impossible to lock up anybody under the age of 24!

Then they tried to raise the age to 19. Thankfully, DeLeo (the unindicted co-conspirator, of all people!) and Tall Deval, and most of the state’s district attorneys, stopped that lunatic scheme as well.

Another proposed crackpot change in the criminal code that didn’t survive: no more statutory rape, as long as the perp was no more than two years older than the victim.

“So a 12-year-old could have sex with a 10-year-old, no problem,” said one of the people involved in fighting the “sweeping” legislation. “That’s what these nuts in the Legislature were pushing for. I understand how angry everybody is about Latanowich, but where have they been for the last two years, when these fools were trying to make it even easier for the next generation of Latanowichs?”

As for Latanowich, when you look at his rap sheet you realize that until he was accused of gunning down Sean Gannon, he was no different than any untold number of other career criminals around here. He took his first pinch at age 13, for a BB gun, but you could have probably guessed that.

The Latanowich cases that jumped out at me were the “bench trials” — where he went into district court, waived his right to a jury trial, and had the case broomed by a judge. This often happens because the lawyer knows the hack on the bench.

So I made some inquiries and got the names of the judges in these cases. But I don’t think they were even at fault here. It’s just the larger problem of criminal justice in this benighted commonwealth. The Legislature should be making it harder for criminals to stay free, instead of easier. But no one was paying attention, at least until Thursday, and attention spans are shorter than ever.

For the record, the vote in the Senate on the “sweeping reform” to make life easier for criminals was 37-0; in the House, 148-5.

Again and again he has the money, think 60 million why is that figure relevant that number 60 million let me look in my Rolodex. Oh here it is that is the same amount the Chicago police pension fund gave to DV urban ventures that failed real estate development company of the daley family! Oops that pesky thing who again signed off on that?

60 million rahm takes away police retiree health care darn that 60 million would of went a long way to help mend our "wounded warriors" who have retired and are desperately in need of health care! Why is he and his entire family ushered around in extremely large SUV that use so much fuel while he touts he is the "green mayor environmentalist?" do as i say he tells us! Why does he have a police detail costing multi-millions yearly? why also do his detail valets get extra pay from commanders to sergeants all of them which is ok, but then the pension is raided for that amount while they are all 9161 Patrolmen! Hey joe ferguson you passed on lieutenants scandal, hah forget it you go after any easy not protected target like parking? what a joke you have a budget in the millions throwing tax money everywhere like a drunken sailor and you uncover courtesy parking? say it ain't so Joe, you just got another juicy city contract and pay raise right? Parking scandal lol I and many cannot believe the absolute wast of resources for this Joe!

Maybe since your not busy you sir could use your people to provide courtesy parking services like this:
https://vimeo.com/112835365

Lets look at definition of courtesy joey:
cour·te·sy
(especially of transport) supplied free of charge to people who are already paying for another service.
modifier noun: courtesy
"he traveled from the hotel in a courtesy car"
archaic
a curtsy.
plural noun: courtesies

there you go so some coppers who paid for tickets to a game got a courtesy so that would follow the definition and your college educated and cannot define this?

Exactly. I doubt he'd even pirouette on Belmont after dark, let alone move his dynasty to a shithole. Although, better weed to score there, so there's that.

(OT) so many reasons to stay away from libtard Starbucks now another:

Protests planned at Chicago area Starbucks Wednesday

http://abc7chicago.com/society/protests-planned-at-chicago-area-starbucks-wednesday/3360493

"Leave the bums inside take the cannoli" seems the liberal Starbucks president did everything he could to go against conservative values even to the point of supporting democratic values! Not so funny now mr Ceo of Starbucks! Never drink your overpriced coffee anyway, just read another article where a black thug went into a Starbucks demanding free coffee and they pointed out a white barista (coffee pourer in English) gave him it free! Nice policy as Barry would say Starbucks is acting "stupidly"

The lesson all coppers know what happened and they will be trying to blame anything on police signed complaints only no proactive action, if you need coffee and Starbucks offers a free cup say "no thanks and I drink dunkin donuts!" Be alert they may try to bait police with dishonest Chicago media looking to put you on 24/7 news cycle!

OT:

Yesterday my partner and I respond to a call for service (not being too descriptive here incase COPA is on the prowl) and the foul smelling subject requested to be relocated. We relocate and after turning the cameras off this person (who's likely homeless) coments that they are now going to hang out at the Starbucks down the street because another officer suggested it earlier. We held back our laughter and just offered encouragement. Afterward, we're thinking someone is bound to call the police, right? It's in a heavily populated area during peak hours. NOPE. Nothing came of it. These Starbucks employees and patrons are probably so freightened to be labeled as racists that soon their lobbies will resemble the entrances to our police stations. I encourage everyone to plant the idea in their head that Starbucks is the new warming station/hideout. Inception......if you will :) It's already so sayisfying watching the liberals boycott one of their own, why not add onto it?

This could help us a lot thanks Starbucks Ceo, maybe we could help the people in the police lobbies they could get warmed up, request free coffee and the dwindling patrons could observe real Chicago! Finally the billionaires at Starbucks can give back to the poor!

That's a lot of mileage you're getting out of Starbucks. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if you have stock and you're secretly trying to promote them to recoup the money they've lost in the last week from the community.

Regardless, we all know you have boycotted Starbucks for years. (Me too, I wouldn't support that evil corporation no matter what). But let's talk about the two cops who bought in Chatham. That is, after all, the topic of this post.

I think Chatham was a great neighborhood, though over the last 10 years, as the projects came down and the original settlers have died or moved on, it has been somewhat in decline. Tommy Wortham was a good man that we lost and the timing of his demise coincides with the decline of this neighborhood.

RIP Tommy

I wouldn't live in a high crime area for all the tea in China. This carpetbagger is so out of touch with reality, but then again most politicians are. I'm not going to be a part of the left's already failed experiment. Be an example Rahm, you first.
The only way to fix high crime is stop making it profitable for the denizens of the ghetto to spawn, and take away all the Great Society free stuff. Then it is a matter of sink or swim. MAGA.

Of course Rahm would never live anywhere near 99% of those neighborhoods.
Come on, that's beneath him.
That private school Rahm's kids go to costs $25k per kid per year tuition.
He lives in a home with a value of over 2 million dollars.

Starbucks should let the folks come in to warm up or cool off for few hours. Giving them free coffee would be nice of them too. What would Kaepernick say?
This could be fun to watch it play out. But, we all know in the end it will be the police’s fault.
p.s. hate the coffee

So the City got 2 people to sign on for the "Cop on the Block" program. Surprised they got that many.

Stay out of your neighbor's affairs. If they ring your doorbell looking for police service, politely ask them to wait. Close the door and call the on-duty police.

And don't expect to have a lot of company.

Get a load of this bullshit. On tv these 2 outstanding citizens were called entrepreneurs who were at a business meeting. Did anyone see how they were dresssed for the business meeting? Dirty sweatpants, and a t-shirt. They were there to execute a real estate transaction or maybe ther were at the cusp of discovering a cure for cancer. Either way, I don’t believe that. One of the guys kept repeating numerous times on the ABC interview that he was handcuffed and double locked. Double locked, double locked.......poor thing I feel so bad for him for being double locked, it’s so much more worse that just being handcuffed. How does he know anything about double locking unless he is in law enforcement or is a criminal? Take your pick. Average Joe doesn’t know what double locking means. And these liberal morons are buying into this race baiting. I hope the manager sues Starbucks!

The whole thing was a set-up. The black female employees were unhappy with the white female manager. They wanted here gone. So they hatched a plan. And, so far is has worked. But, wait until it all falls apart. Also, the white guy with the practiced script who over-stressed his astonishment was in on it.
