Once again, in a category that no one wants to be in:
- America’s 10 largest cities, largely Democrat strongholds, are drowning in municipal debt, according to a new report from government watchdog Truth in Accounting.
The report sought out “to determine what ... overlapping financial entities mean for taxpayers’ bottom line.” Truth in Accounting said its purpose was to “calculate the various bills (and surpluses, when available) at the city government level and divide them out to determine a per-Taxpayer Burden.”
The two cities with the highest burden: Chicago and New York City; Chicago’s combined taxpayer burden: $119,110; New York City’s combined taxpayer burden: $85,600.
And if you read the posts below this one, that tax burden is only going higher.

Our two major assets are our pension plan and our homes. What happens to our home values if property taxes triple? What happens when the ghetto swallows up our neighbors and neighborhood?

I saw this article and was going to post it under one of the blogs. Pretty sad shit. The fu&king demoRat leaders in this City and State just want to bring in more dirt poor third world sanctuary migrants so we can continue to have financial pressures when we can’t even cover the pensions and pressing municipal costs. All in the name of more democrat votes. I know so many people who moved or will be moving out of state. Chicago’s debt level is sky high even when comparing the 4th City on the list. Last one out, please turn off the lights (sounds like a joke but believe me, people are getting out quick)!

Many of my neighbors who are tied down with a job and/or family nearby are moving out.
Property taxes, already sky-high, will only go higher.... and property values will go down at the same time. It makes no sense to live in Illinois any longer.
I have a relative living in the forlorn city of Kankakee, which my relative is the first to say is a dump of a city. He's paying $3,000 year in property taxes on a $90,000 home. The home has barely appreciated in value, as the home is in Illinois and Kankakee, a double whammy.
Get out now before the whole house of cards tumbles in upon itself.
There's hundreds, if not thousands of municipalities in need of good cops. Do your homework and find a job in a state/county that is financially sound, has good schools and isn't run by democrats.
You deserve better than the shit-sandwich Chicago-Cook-Illinois is trying to feed you.

Lightfoot better find a very quick way to fully fund the police pension fund or the CPD will crumble and along with that will be Chicago. Even the merit leadership will give up. Destroying the fund is an unimaginable blow to police officers and Chicago. Chicago will have no police force if this happens. Police officers pay into the fund every paycheck with no say. On the first day of employment an agreement is signed allowing the city to withdraw money from each check. The survival of Chicago depends on a strong police force. Lightfoot got stuck holding the bag but now it’s hers to fix and start cutting the waste.

Same goes for the local suburbs, like oak lawn and surrounding communities . traffic violators everywhere, from 87th St. to 1 111th St., drunks driving around all over during local tavern bar happy hours and not a cop insite doing anything. Hundreds of traffic violators a day on Cicero Avenue and never a squad making a single stop. Drunken goofs entering an exiting bars, taverns, all along the route endangering motorists and pedestrians, never arrest made. Instead they will raise taxes and fees on local residents. Bunch of clowns.

Left IL for OK in 2004.
Still have many friends and relatives in IL. I keep telling them, “Last one out of the door gets stuck with the check.”
In OK, the taxes are lower, the laws are fairer, the people are nicer and there are ZERO blue counties.
Plus, tornados are classified as entertainment. :-)

LaSalle is the third of three blue counties in IL.

Really? No traffic stops? Drive through EP doing 31 in a 30 and don't have the green EP sticker on your bumper. They pull everyone over! Someone tried beefing a couple of years ago that they were targeting minorities. They were able to prove with dash camera, tickets and warning tickets they pull everyone over regardless of race.
Last one on the bus gets a bad deal. I sold my crib for 370k and moved to Florida. Best decision I ever made. Also very few DemocRats in my neck of the woods. Poleec are respected, and CCW peeps are everywhere

In Chicago, buy a $40,000 car and you get to pay $4,100 in sales taxes (at 10.25%).
In Madison, buy a $40,000 car and you get to pay $2,200 in sales taxes (at 5.50%).
Add in the high gas tax, property taxes, etc and you wonder why people are getting the fuck out!
