Not Guilty?
- An 18th District police sergeant is being recognized for rescuing a woman from her "altered state" boyfriend who was found choking and biting flesh from the woman’s face in a Streeterville apartment. The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation (CPMF) today named Sgt. Andy Dakuras and two patrolmen as the charity’s officers of the month.
Around 9:45 p.m. last June 23rd, Dakuras responded to a “person calling for help” dispatch in the 400 block of North McClurg. Stepping off of the elevator, Dakuras heard the 27-year-old victim crying, “Please help me. He is killing me. Please help.”
Dakuras forced his way through the reinforced door and found the woman sitting on the kitchen floor with her boyfriend choking her from behind with his forearm and biting the flesh from her cheek and face, the charity said in a press release.
The sergeant realized that the boyfriend was in an “altered state of mind” as he tried various tactics to free the woman from the man’s grip. Eventually, Dakuras grabbed his pepper spray and discharged the entire can into the boyfriend’s mouth, which caused the man to loosen his grip on the woman and lean back on the floor.
Note: At this point, the sergeant could have killed the offender and there isn't a single sustainable charge that could be brought against him. Not only that, he'd still be hailed as a hero. The sergeant didn't do this:
- The boyfriend continued to struggle as Dakuras tried to handcuff him. At one point during the six-minute fight, the man bit down on Dakuras’ forearm. The boyfriend kept his mouth clamped on the sergeant’s arm despite Dakuras’ attempts to free himself by pushing on pressure points, including the man’s eye sockets.
Note: Once again, the sergeant could have legally and justifiably killed the offender and so could the two responding officers arrived to assist in the arrest. This did not happen. We won't judge, nor will we permit any comments to appear that second guess the officers, but here's why cops are remaining fetal:
- Court records show the boyfriend, Gregory Jackson, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery of a police officer; aggravated battery - strangulation; and resisting police.
In a bench trial overseen by Judge Thomas Byrne on May 8th, Jackson was found not guilty on one count of aggravated battery of a police officer. Byrne found him not guilty of all other charges by reason of insanity.
Byrne granted Jackson conditional release and ordered him to undergo five years of outpatient mental health services and to meet other requirements.
Really? He chews off parts of his girlfriends face and tries to remove a chunk of the sergeant's arm and he walks out of court?
So Lori, you going to talk to Crimesha and Judge Timmy to figure out to make that side of the equation? And are you going to thank the Sergeant for not justifiably killing another "community" member?

Note: the POS summer mobile Sergeant was so upset at his guys for this that he began yelling at them in front of the bosses at the hospital. He tried to spar them for responding to this as he felt they should have gone to their secondary assignment or something. If it weren’t for the Capt and commander and LT these guys that helped this Sgt it would have been punished for helping out a PO when he was in desperate need of it. Kudos to those two officers and a big F YOU to the SGT RO (025) and the LT JW and Capt. SS.
He does sound pretty crazy. One doesn't usually resort to cannibalism if one is sane. I don't see how you can blame this on the judge though. The courts and the legislators have pretty much gotten us out of the business of locking up violent crazy people.
Lori should take a stroll over to 26th and Cal for accountability Mondays. That's the only place where its needed.
NFW will this POS Mayorass do anything to help the police stop the violence! She doesn't have the power to get the States Attorney, the Judges or the Sheriff to do anything to stop the violence! In January of this year an officer was shot in the vest as he protected an offender’s parents from being executed. He was rewarded with two CR numbers and numerous bosses who never cared to review the reports or view the camera footage exclaiming it never actually happened! The court ruled that bad guy a mental also. Why would anyone put themselves through that!?!?!
Congratulations and thank you to Sgt. Dakuras, Officers Norwood and Rodriguez for your outstanding police work. The only altered state I see in Gregory Jackson's mugshot photo is that he appears rather smug. SCC perhaps you could start enclosing photos of these judges who make these outlandish decisions so when we are at the country club we can ostracize them. These judges and ASAs should be forced to attend the CAPS beat meetings where the crime occured to explain their decisions to the citizens. Why are the police the only ones that have to take the heat at those meetings?

This reminds me of the man high on drugs

time to reference the case). The drug essentially
transformed the man into a cannibal and he tried
to eat the face of his victim. Cases are quite similar.
I can't remember how the West Coast case resolved,
but the Chicago officer is to be commended for not
firing a single shot. Contrary to popular opinion
(or agendas), the Chicago Police Force is not full
of gun happy cowboys.

Wait a minute - what? This guy gets away with an insanity plea,, which I hear is not easy - and he doesn’t even get incarcerated at a mental institution? The crazy judge basically lets him out ROR - because that’s what a “community mental health treatment” sentence ends up being.
This guy is clearly nuts - either that or he was totally hopped up on drugs - and the judge actually believes he will be compliant with a sentence that only involves outpatient treatment? Who do you think so many homeless people are? People who were sent to “community mental health treatment” and either did not go or only went while they had to and are now off their meds.
Maybe the next time he’s trying to eat someone the responding officers will need to use lethal force. I applaud the responding officers in the first instance for their restraint, but you know this guy will be back on police radar. I think that judge is NUTS!

As a Sergeant who was assigned to Summer Mobile with Sgt RO when this took place, I know that Sgt RO acted alone on this entire incident and his actions were a sore spot the rest of his stay. Everyone from the Capt on down couldn’t believe Sgt RO’s reaction to what his officers did. He was told to make it right and apologized to the OShea, Cronin, and the officers, but the damage was done.
What mental help since Rahm closed all the facilities. Opps sorry for asking such insensitive question. Should never question a Democrats wisdom or methods.
I have read the Illinois statues the judges go by and nowhere in them does it say you can not chew off a person’s face if it’s your girlfriend. Case closed.

I assume you mean that the 018 District Commander, Captain, and Lt saved these P.O.s. who helped out. A lot of people don’t like (then) Captain MR, because he makes people work.....a lot, but he will back his guys every time (assuming they’re not doing stupid and/or criminal shit). So will commander DO. And I’m going to guess the Lt was Cronin? He will do the same.
If he shot that raving lunatic, the community would have rioted over the shooting of an unarmed man...

In regards to SJWs and the real damage they cause, read-up on recent "Oberlin College vs Gibson's Bakery" damages award, where the family owning bakery received a $44 million judgment against Oberlin for libel-related damages, for labeling bakery owners as "racist". This is the lawsuit to study. Finally there's a method to fight-back SJW tactics, via civil court. We need a crime victim of a "early-release" perpetrator to sue State's Attorney and Cook County for civil damages for culpability in aiding and abetting street-criminals by providing early-release access back into "victim-pool".

The body cam was tough to watch. Sgt D could have easily given this guy a dirt nap. Another thing is this guy was trying to get at a gun that was in the room which Dakarus didn’t know was there until the fight was over. This could have gone sideways and ended very badly.
