Have for a long time been of the opinion that the only reason Kidneybean Ed hasn't benn kicked out of his job is that the Mayor (both of them) are unable to get anyone willing to take the job.
All you have to do is look at this mayor and you can tell she is one of those people who thinks she is the smartest person in the room because no one has ever challenged her because of her race and sexual orientation. Unfortunately she is now in a spotlight she cant shut off and will be shown to be a fool that accomplishes very little of value. Cant blame the police for everything Lori. The city is crumbling from crime and collapsing from debt and all you can talk about is some cop taking a vacation. Go fuck yourself. You did not have any “mandate”. You were elected by the 30 odd percent of the people. Some voted for you to keep Prickwrinkle out...the rest are just a sliver of stupidity. In 4 years people will have a reason to come out in droves to get rid of your nothingness.
Maybe he has more questions than answers and enjoys playing Supernintendo.

Lightfoot can't stop the shootings or reduce crime in Chicago. Police can't either. Don't pretend we can. It's going to be the same shit year after year. It's summer time again in Chicago and crime is booming, and this is the best time to hit the medical or go on furlough. The top brass understands that. 017 District has 2 shootings back to back already where a 2 year old was among the people shot. Commander is on the medical too and District is running like a chicken with its head cut off. No commander, no problem. No decision is made until he gets back, no problem. Halt until commander gets back. Only city agencies operates this way. Name a single private company that stops decision making because CEO is out. Lightfoot needs a Heavyfoot.

There is an ordinance pending that would establish a civilian review board that has the power to hire and fire the police superintendent. If it passes, Lightfoot will wait until the Fall to fire Special Ed. It would be a dumb move to fire him in the Summer

Mayor Light-thought thinks she’s smarter than everyone else, probably because she’s never held a real job, where she was expected to do something specific and measurable, not just “check the box” for “diversity” (she checks THREE boxes).
The look on her face says “I blame YOU for this”. That’s been her answer all her adult life (and possibly before). But the shit-storm that’s coming is going to be so big and last so long that she is going to run out of scapegoats. Right now, the police are her favorite whipping boy, but once that one runs dry (or once the CPD folds its tents and stays home), she’ll need another, so anyone in city government who’s feeling smug now will get their turn later.
The only people who will never be blamed for violence in “the community” is “the community”, itself.

Who cares if the commander is there or not. He has nothing to do with with the extreme manpower shortage. The fact is 017 is dangerously low on manpower. Shortest staffed in the city The commander has no impact on that. They better start letting guys work their days off all week or that place will crumble.
He’s thinking “man I think I can raise my foot high enough to kick her in the ass, she’ll fold up like a cheap suitcase and then I’ll hide behind this flag”. “If she insists that it was me, I’ll go on the medical with a blood clot or something”

This is just another small example of what is wrong with this department. Maybe it seems like no big deal but as a commander, he is supposed to lead by example. That includes uniform standards. Now you have a deputy chief who supervises him. Why hasn't that person told this commander to shave or wear the beard properly? And how about Waller? Or is there a double standard for his friends? When you are in charge, whether it be as a sergeant or any rank above, you set the tone. If you decide to pick and choose what you want to follow, then what are you showing to your officers? If you can cherry pick rules so can they. So when they come to you for a SPAR hearing and they say "I just decided I didn't want to go to court that day" or "I just decided I want a 64 minute lunch" or anything else subject to discipline, then you better let them off with no punishment because they have now done what you have shown to be an acceptable excuse. That is why the department is so fucked up. We have too many incompetents in places of authority. You have multiple merit promotees running this place only because they have a connection. How about one of the latest? Score 597 out of 601 on the lieutenant's test and get merit promoted in the first class off of that list. Now a commander. WTF. Oh yah, merit sergeant too. And the list goes on. So maybe that isn't a big deal either. But add up all those no big deals and you have an organization that no longer functions in a manner that allows for it to do the job.

That’s why they have an acting commander when the commander is off. He or she makes those decisions. District doesn’t stop when the commander is on medical
