My neighbor, a liberal all the way, is in her 70’s, very educated, a health care practitioner that spends a lot of time in hospitals, suffers from ago-immune disorder & just recovering from surgery said to me the other day, “a whole lot of people getting hysterical about things they don’t need to be hysterical about.” God Bless her. I love when someone is sensible.

This started in third world China. Open market live animals for sale to eat. No chance of anything going wrong where you have live animals, rats, bats, dogs and cats picking at each other then comes the insects and flies to spread disease even more. The country has no safeguards whatsoever. Men in China are dying because of underlying conditions mainly heart disease because over 50% of men in China smoke cigarettes and by smoke I mean packs a day. In addition the air quality has to be the worse there then in any other country. The satellite view of China before and after they shut down was staggering. I have family members in this state and out of state. Their jobs include marketing and setting up and running these trade shows around the country. It looks like everyone will cancel this year and maybe into next depending on what is happening with the virus. No one want to fly or stay in hotels or mingle in large groups until more is known. They are telling me that local governments on the West Coast are already banning group meetings over 200 people. The temporary end to fans at major sporting events, baseball, basketball football is on the horizon and imminent . More then one company they deal with is issuing new laptops to everyone in the anticipation of a regional quarantine so people can work at home. It is coming. Be prepared.

epidemiology/biostatistics guy here. what you want to do for any place's CV19 numbers is look at the ratio of fatalities to official cases (cfr). the higher that ratio is, the less people are getting tested. lots of places only test them if they're hospitalized. you project the real cases based on this - the higher the cfr the less you trust the official case count.
if the cfr looks like over 15% just assume you have no idea how many cases there are.
