Cook County Broke

  • Cook County Health, which runs Cermak Hospital and other county facilities, aims to provide care to all county residents regardless of their ability to pay, and the COVID-19 pandemic will have a massive impact on the health system’s budget, according to officials.

“This will have a profound impact on our bottom line,” Preckwinkle said, because elective surgeries have been canceled per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance. Preckwinkle said the health system receives the most compensation via elective surgeries. When asked how much the COVID-19 pandemic would cost the health system, Preckwinkle declined to provide an estimate.

“I can’t tell you how much financial impact that will have because we don’t know how long this pandemic will prohibit us from doing elective surgeries,” she said.
She won't even speculate, which means it's a sizable shortage. And the only solution will be tax hikes....because that's all democrats know.

SO….even if they raise taxes....who's going to be paying these taxes...who will have a job, business, or company once we overcome the coronavirus? It looks like the democrats have themselves in a real pickle with no tax money and every entity in the state is pretty much broke! I predict civil unrest when these asshole politicians finally have to tell the taxpayers & payers & payers that the state is broke and they (politicians) have stolen all the money they possibly could and left NOTHING, SERO, ZILCH for a rainy day rescue!!!!

I imagine the lawsuit settlements that Dart has caused isn't helping the cash flow situation much.

But they don't want to talk about that.

She will use this pandemic to further push her agenda to keep the jail population low and consolidate courts. This will allow her other agenda to kick in, which is cutting jobs.

Heard that the fat boy is putting into effect an import tax on the China virus! Anyone found to be in possession of the virus could be subject to the tax. He wants your Trump checks. I could see the governor, Prickwrinkle and Groot fighting over the tax on your Trump checks. He doesn’t believe that you should get them. The money should go to his fat ass because he thinks that he knows what is better for you....... just who is paying his food bills? Seems that every time I see him, he’s bigger! Those bills alone will probably bankrupt the state!!!

While past performance is not an indicator of future performance, they know how many elective surgeries they did last year and what they made on them. Prickwinkle obviously has trouble balancing her check register.

Funny how the taxpayer is always the one who needs to tighten his belt. Meanwhile, the politicians give their staff 15%-30% salary raises, spend $30 million on bike lanes in a city that is covered in snow and ice 6 months out of the year, $125 million for a private school stadium, $200K makeover for the Frog Princess' office, $1 million in legal assistance for illegals ... the list goes on. I have never once heard any department actually cutting staff or administration, other than the consolidation and downsizing of the police department. They would have gotten away with cutting more officers from the budget if the feds hadn't busted them for using grant money to staff airport with officers that they never hired. Of course, there was plenty in the budget to open up six more useless executive administrative positions.

Mailed 1st Installment in mid Feb, around Valentine's Day.

Check cleared bank as of early March.

Crook county web site shows Deliquent, with added juice to balance. As of today.

I get that the minions were otherwise occupied mid Feb, ya know, hustling up those "mail-in" votes.

But, shit, bitches, you got paid, on time, in full, so fucking admit it!!!

Empty jails, revolving door courtrooms, nonexistent felonies, no need for clerks, asst attorneys and judges...right?
Prickwrinkle was boasting last year about all the money saving management decisions she made, how the county was in tip top shape financially including the CookCo hospital networks, but not enough to give back some to the taxpayers.
Profound is the budget that MUST increase and the spending never stop.

Prickwrinkle has how many offices and how big a staff and how many County suv’s dropping off campaign materials?

Another soda pop tax incarceration, oh wait, price of gas is down....

That's like saying Crime isn't going down in chicago so might as well lay off the cops since they ain't doing anything since they talk about being fetal n not making arrests.

This is all a game. Did 10 years county before coming to chicago. After working both sides I will fully endorse the saying

NEVER LET A GOOD CRISIS GO TO WASTE

They cry broke, they will be billing the feds for a majority of this. Old friend who still works at county with some rank said they made them start using a Covid-19 pay code. That's not on accident. That's to bill the GOV. Get your date to cover to bill and still cry broke to tax payer in the fall to raise taxes anyways.
