Tribune Thinks It's Brown?
- Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s next police superintendent will either be a woman leading a suburban police department, a former police chief from Texas, or a high-ranking Chicago police official, though sources familiar with the process said a favorite had emerged late Wednesday.
Those sources said former Dallas police Chief David Brown was the leading candidate, and a decision was imminent. Lightfoot is expected to name her choice Thursday, the sources said.
There's considerable pushback from the reverends on a total outsider (which Brown is) and on an untested LGBTXYZ member (that Ziman is). Cato would be just another Johnson - in many ways.

Then open the three resumes of the three candidates.......
Read CATOs and calculate how much time he worked the street in Chiraq
Compare it to how much time he spent in special phone call units........
Then read the rest, seeing how the others are advisors and book writers......

I have printed the resumes up and had neighbors and family read them.
Everyone reads them and sees no leadership. But a lot of false bravado.......

I have just abut 30 years on the job and the fact that she is a finalist is the most insulting decision I have ever seen. Apply to St. Louis, Milwaukee, Omaha, Des Moines, Indianapolis - get some real experience outside of DuPage/Kane County, then maybe take out an application for Chicago. And 5 years agao or so, no one who SGT Cato was - until his meteoric rise. I guess we'll have to take Brown. He the least of the 3 evils.
The real fact here is that way too many really qualified people did not apply for the position. The final three choices are not the best.

Not that I want her here but I don’t get this logic. Cato doesn’t have experience running the department either- he’s a cog in the exempt ranks. Brown is only one that is former Chief of a whole department.
Brown = Looser
Ziman = Looser
Cato = Looser

This isn’t a very diverse group. Only black and white represented? Where’s the Asians? Hispanics? Native Americans? Indians? No Jewish applicants? And only two genders? What about the other 173 genders? None of them zees and zerrs were available? Lightfoot and this police board are really coming off as the true racists and gender discriminators they are.

We can do worse than Zinman. So she worked at a small department. She might try to help us not hurt us. Cato was never a Superintendent anywhere, and, I think it is time for a woman to be a superintendent. If the department is supposed to reflect the community, let's s try someone new, she may be a good superintendent.
