These are the questions that should be asked of CPD “leadership.” What happened to the mobile field force that was created in 2011 and used in 2012 for the NATO Summit? Why was the mobile field force allowed to disband and whither away? Why did the inept command staff not listen to a small group of individuals every year when they advocated for crowd control training because it is a perishable skill? Why was a crowd control training unit not instituted because I know some CPD members asked for it and made a good case for it? Since most CPD members know that many of the officers with the most crowd control training from the NATO Summit days are retired or not working tact/gang/Sat/etc anymore, have the new tact/gang/Sat etc officers received any crowd control training recently? When was the last time anyone on CPD received crowd control training (specify which units) and in what type of detail (specify whether it’s eLearning, hands on, classroom, how many hours, topics covered, were practical exercises used, etc)?? What type of planning went into preparing for protests/civil unrest after the riots began in Minnesota (check emails of command staff and laugh at the clueless responses or no responses at all because of lack of knowledge). Why is CPD management more worried about keeping their “spots” and getting a large pension and not worried about the safety of their officers? Why did the Mayor allow Eddie Johnson and his appointed cronies to stay in power for a year after she took office, knowing that Eddie Johnson and his appointed command staff were worthless? Why did the Mayor keep Eddie Johnson’s appointed cronies as CPD command staff members after she fired Eddie Johnson? The total lack experience, knowledge, and skills by many of the CPD command staff and the bad decisions by the Mayor have caused some of the injuries to CPD officers and property damage over the past few days. The Mayor and many command staff members should be ashamed of themselves. God bless the CPD officers keeping the city safe every day. Working for CPD is a thankless job, but please know that many appreciate what you do every single day. Stay safe out there. I wish CPD members the best. And to those who read the above and ask questions, your jaws will drop at the actual responses. Take it from someone who knows.
