Foolish to "monitor" large disturbances if you're going to do it with a large police presence. Why bother doing that? It just creates the flashpoint needed to go bad which is what you want to avoid. Just have a film crew there filming if it should go bad. Record any major destruction before any police response at all. When/if it gets bad enough then send in the neutralizers just be sure it is burning really badly first. Be sure to show no police around prior. We will get criticized for allowing it but better than being criticized for causing it.

My suggestion: pull all police back to east of the Dan Ryan and north of Cermak. Set up a defensive line along Roosevelt. Prep the bridges across the north and south branches of the Chicago River - from Belmont to Cermak - for demolition - probably ought to prep the bridges across the main branch, as well, in case the line at Roosevelt can’t be held. Obviously, train service will have to be closed down.
Aldermen can be in charge of public safety in those wards that don’t have police coverage. This will be their opportunity to show how much better the politicians, activists, community organizers and reverends can run things.

Hundreds of businesses looted, and many, many burnt out, not just near where George Floyd died, or the Third Precinct, but across Minneapolis AND Saint Paul, and even some suburbs. Over 170 businesses looted in Saint Paul, and Minneapolis is too f---d up to even give you a count. The idiot Democrats that run those cities and the state finally deployed the National Guard this morning to the worst hit area, where the NG and State Patrol are protecting the ashes from further damage.

The Mall of America was supposed to reopen this weekend with reduced capacity. If they're smart, they'll delay it for a while.
This isn’t your daddy’s police department anymore. The days of gunnin’ and runnin’ are over. Message to all the newbies, Put your three years in and start applying for police departments who are in pro police states and/or go federal.
Last time the Guard patrolled the streets they were not allowed ammunition is that still the case. If so those weapons will be taken away loaded and used against you and them. Not hard to get Natori rounds or any other ammo for that matter. The smart citizens have already done that.
So they can protest and gather in groups of ten or more against the police but a peaceful protest is not allowed at Buckingham Fountain. Hmmmmm...and no one in charge wants to talk about the real issues plaguing the south and west sides, instead blaming it, as always, on systemic racism and bad cops.
And they expect things to change when their mantra won't? Good luck with that...
