Good Job Citizen
A licensed gun owner shot someone who allegedly broke into his home Wednesday in Albany Park on the Northwest Side.
The 46-year-old man heard what sounded like a break-in at his home at 4:52 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Kenneth Avenue, according to Chicago police. He went to investigate and was confronted by a 58-year-old man who doesn’t live there.
The homeowner shot the man in the forearm during a scuffle, police said. The 58-year-old ran away but was later taken into custody and brought to Swedish Covenant Hospital in good condition.
A police source said the 46-year-old has a valid FOID card and concealed-carry license.
We don't think you need an FOID card or a CCL to shoot someone who is illegally in your house. It's kind of a freebie.
This has been proposed here before, but perhaps the FOP (or a civic minded organization) can get homeowners who successfully defend their homes and loved ones some sort of gift card for ammo at one of the finer gun stores NOT located in Prickwrinkle's jurisdiction. Say $50.
The FOP holds a press conference and says since Groot is eliminating police officer vacancies instead of hiring more officers, the FOP is getting behind an effort to ensure law abiding citizens can defend their homes and be reimbursed for their troubles. Tell citizens since a bullet is cheaper than a cop, you better get a lot more bullets.
The publicity alone might drive down the crime rate by five or ten percentage points.

I understand at least two organizations are suing the Il state police for how they’ve sat on tens of thousands of FOID applications, only have two females working the FOID office in Springfield. Friends of mine have been waiting six plus months for theirs and they’re not folks, but they are people. Citizens, the legit good citizens of Illinois decades ago agreed to this FOID bullshit an the 30 day waiting period “agreement”. Fuck state police.
Great job. If someone breaks into your home, it’s only reasonable to believe they’re going to do you harm. They break into your home? Light them up. If they die, they die, so be it. You’ve forfeited your right to live when you go busting into peoples homes.
I’d highly recommend joining USCCA or NRA and buy their liability insurance that covers your ass when you have to shoot someone. Coverage is great and very affordable. Covers attorney fees, blood and guts cleanup and more. Check it out.. whether or not you’re in the right, you’re gonna need a lawyer.

I have USCCA, they do a great job, they cover you with a firearm and all weapons to include non-firearm. My neighbor told me the NRA does not cover you for the non-firearm weapons ie: baton,ASP, bat, hammer, etc. But here's the craziest thing, for the highest plan, its only 440 bucks a year, and they give 10% off over the phone if you're LEO. Believe it or not I love it. Basically if someone(s) trying to break into my dwelling or attempt to hold me up, be prepared to feel the army combat veteran fury your way. I've got enough ammo for the invasion of 2003 Iraq.

In albany park you need to gun up if you live there because you will be cold and stiff before they can find a beat car to send to your house after you call 911 for assistance. The manpower in 017 has been gutted to critically short levels. I understand from reading here that this is a city wide problem. Little eddie munster wants to cut 800 positions on cpd on top of that. She has that luxury, she is protected by armed officers 24/7 wherever she goes.

Applied for my FOID in March . 5 months later still no FOID. Called the Illinois Rifle Association. They forwarded my info to the lawyers who filed the class action lawsuit against the ISP. Got my FOID in September. About another month after I contacted the Rifle Association.

You do not. It is an Affirmative Defense in IL. Case back a few years in the Northwest suburbs where home owner shot a burglar coming in thru a dog/cat door with no FOID and was found not guilty.
Have you ever seen the reaction of a crackhead to the sudden "racking" sound of a 12 gauge? Two shits were smoking crack in the hallway of my building. I cracked my door, saw them, then I "racked" the slide. They nearly killed each other trying to get out the door and down the stairs. It was fun and there was no cleanup.

I read in some states there are class action lawsuits being filed because of these FOID delays and violation of 2nd amendment rights. Any planned in Illinois?

That is why it is absoultely paramount that a citizen who owns a firearm carries private liability insurance. Many gun owners mistakenly believe that their homeowner's insurance will cover them. A good un owner's policy will cost you around $200 a year. The gun hate group is attempting to drive these insurance companies out of business to further hurt you.

Illinois is being sued . I was told the governor moved most of the money that was allocated for the State Police to process these applications, to the general fund . Just another screwed up Illinois program. Your cards remain in force until the state renews it, but the problem lies with those citizens who are attempting to get their FOID and concealed card. The entire process is taking 9-11 months. The guy who is the plaintiff in the Illinois suit has been trying to get his concealed carry card for the past two years.

Yes, that is acccurate. But, without an FOID card, even for a firearm/ammunition in your own home or place of business, you will be arrested and pay a lawyer a lot of money. For 10 bucks, it is not worth the problems

It is not the fault of the Illinois State Police for the long waits for FOID cards and conealed carry permits. This falls strictly on Gov. JB for taking most of the money allocated for the police and spending it elsewhere. I think it is his way to tamp down the 2nd Amendment in Illinois. But, he has armed guards and driver's and most likely most of his family members also have armed guards, being billionaires that is.Take away their armed guard and gated communities and see how they like it. Hypocrits

Thanks for the info about contacting the Illinois Rifle Association because I am another person that can't get his FOID card. I have been waiting since March also and if I am going to live in this state I want the ability to learn how to properly use a fireman in case I need to protect my property or family in an emergency.
I never wanted to purchase a fireman before and my wife hates them but what Lightfoot and Foxx have done to the officers of Chicago I no longer feel safe. We wish we could leave but we can't so our reality is being proactive and prepare for the worse and hope for the best.
I'll let you know if this works and I appreciate the advice.
