Anyone want to bet Groot cancels Halloween shortly?
- Citing the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Chicago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said a business curfew in the city will start Friday October 23 for non-essential businesses and go for two weeks.
Lightfoot said the city is in the second surge of COVID-19. The business curfew goes for two weeks “in the hopes of stemming the spread of this disease.”
Starting Friday October 23 at 6:00 a.m., all non-essential businesses will be closed to the public from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. And all liquor sales will stop after 9:00 p.m. Essential businesses like grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants with take-out delivery services are exempt. Lightfoot said she would not hesitate to roll the city back into Phase 3 or a stay-on-place if things get worse.
Liquor sales? 10:00 PM? It seems Groot has discovered that the COVID virus is a 12-year-old child subject to curfew and running around with a fake ID trying to buy beer. And closing down inside serving as the nightly temperatures are dipping down into the 30's with autumn rapidly setting in.
Fatass has to get in on the act, too:
- Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Thursday that Illinois State Police will start patrolling bars and restaurants in regions of the state where coronavirus numbers are surging, and establishments that disregard his new restrictions could face sanctions including the loss of their liquor or gambling licenses.
On another record-setting day for new COVID-19 infections, Pritzker announced the police patrols in four area of the state. The officers will be authorized to disperse crowds and issue citations for violators.

As the testing becomes more widespread, there are obviously going to be higher case numbers. No one reports the death counts alongside the case numbers for some reason, even if they are a lagging indicator.

I have a friend who has a daughter who suffers from allergies and has been to the hospital 4 times and each time she goes she is required to take a COVID test. No big deal. The fifth time, she tested positive. The doctor, not saying it directly, almost said this is a false positive, but didn't but said for the mother, who is a teacher by the way, to not quarrantine and just go to work as usual.
Whatever is taking place with these new tests and how they are going about testing really should be investigated. Illinois tested 80,000 in a day. Wisconsin and Indiana test on a average of 10,000 a day.

You can do the statistical numbers yourself but the percentage of persons hospitalized and in ICU's is very very low.
Far northwest side gave Trump 43% of the vote in last election. I do not agree that closing parks and opening bars is the proper way to handle this. I don’t agree that masks should be mandatory, but I do believe they should be encouraged, especially during flu season, but mostly because people are gross and there are so many spit-talkers! I am a bit of a germaphobe - I always carried hand sanitizer & wipes to clean off my table before eating at a restaurant & this was prior to the pandemic! My guess is he’s IOD cause he caught it from a citizen while he was performing his duties, your medical cause you caught it from a co worker at roll call.

The Clay County court ruling that Pritzker cannot make any COVID related executive orders is still valid. The court in Springfield ruled against Pritzker this week. Any Executive order Pritzker has made since April 8th are essentially a fairy tale. They do not exist.
In addition, Bailey has requested that Pritzker be held in contempt for disregarding a court order. Pritzker was facing possible jail time before he got the case moved to Springfield. He goes out and enacts new COVID executive orders the day after losing his court case again.
He was given until end of the month to file something else to challenge the court ruling. He will lose again.
Also, a few restaurants have won lawsuits against their forced closings. The one regarding Washy's Saloon in Monroe County had the statement, "There is no law that prohibits indoor dining."
