Guess who ISN'T going to the southern border after all?
Mayor Brandon Johnson announced Monday he is not attending his administration’s trip to the U.S.-Mexico border later this week, a reversal he said stems from having to address the “urgency” of the growing migrant population in Chicago.
Instead of Johnson heading the group, Chicago deputy mayor of immigration Beatriz Ponce de León will lead a delegation, which is scheduled to leave Tuesday for the Texas cities of El Paso, San Antonio, McAllen and Brownsville, according to a statement from the mayor’s office.
“The Mayor, along with senior aides and key operations personnel, will stay in Chicago to address the immediate urgency of adding shelter space to house thousands of new arrivals sleeping in police stations, airports or outside,” the statement read.
We guess he (A) couldn't get clearance from Mrs BJ and the family or (B) the kids didn't want to miss Halloween.
Or (C) the optics were just not playing well in the polling. The neighborhoods are pissed off and if he really wants to see what all the hubbub is about, go visit some of them.

Yes the optics would be disastrous if the community knew he went down to the border to hustle up more new voters and new residents instead of taking care of the people who voted him in. How many people in this delegation? If they fly into San Antonio and drive to these other towns that’s a distance of well over a thousand miles. Then the drive back to San Antonio. When they get back will we see the bills for transportation, lodging & food? They are not going to discover anything new that Fox News already covers every day with videos of migrants just walking into the country by the thousands.

Like everyone is saying, what the hell visiting the border will do for chicago? It would make it worst in saying that we want them to come to the city. City has to stop being a sanctuary city, we are being overwhelmed with the migrants we have. The mayor has to clean up the city's problems than create more. Can we name one think he has done in the first hundred days of being mayor of the city? He should also cute down on his security detail so those officers can add to the numbers on the street. It will be pretty interesting what happens with the first "real cold" weather to come. It will be a shock to the migrants.
