Gov. J.B. Pritzker and House Speaker Chris Welch both threw cold water on the idea of a veto session supplemental appropriations bill to help Chicago handle the increasing influx of asylum seekers from Venezuela.
Speaker Welch told reporters Thursday he had “made it clear” to Mayor Brandon Johnson that “we were not expecting to do a supplemental budget in the veto session,” while the governor told reporters the week before that he hadn’t heard about any plans for a supplemental. Governors always know about supplementals because their office writes them.
There is simply no appetite in the General Assembly to tackle any super controversial issues during the veto session, which runs from Oct. 24 through Nov. 9.
And this little tidbit:
Plus, Johnson’s recent budget proposal cut the city’s earlier projected spending on the new arrivals by $50 million while increasing spending on other items. That didn’t go over too well with legislators, either.
So that $50 million steered away from illegals and into "other items" is....where exactly? Are these projects going to be cut or eliminated? Unlikely, because they are obviously some politician's pet graft. Are the illegals going to be shorted food, shelter or handouts? Again, unlikely, because they have to be coddled and cultivated lest they leave or :::gasp!::: not vote for democrats in the future.
This is one of the reasons we labeled BJs budget as "fantasy."

People living here are paying enough and getting little for it. Over half the people in my circle want to move out of state. Illinois is the 6th most populated state. I expect the state to keep losing people even with illegal people coming here. The US started as a country of immigrants but we are full. They should have come 100 years ago. The rules were strict at one point. Most people have trouble just paying their bills and can’t afford to pay for people coming from other countries. The dreamers are all illegals. The US have well over 30 million illegals that send US money to their former countries. How long before we are in worse shape than the people coming.

This is the best post about the whole debacle. It's the same as sending all this money and military supplies to Ukraine. Charity begins at home but they're giving away all of our tax money to foreign matters while we're drowning here at home.

The Veto session starts the week before Halloween.
Busload of illegals were just delivered to the Jefferson Park field house today, 16 Oct. Possibly being "housed" in the field house. Is the Park District trying to get in on the free Federal Aid scam? What was said awhile ago, "You will own nothing at like it." The majority of which are GRANTS! 6.1 Million are for designated for "American Rescue Plan Fiscal Recovery", 5.4 million are designated for 'COPS Hiring Program". I noticed they didn't designate it as Police Officer Hiring..

They can say what they want but the city owns more vacant property on the south and west sides then on the north where more than half the population lives. And as much as I can understand they want a say in how its developed, they don't seem to want any development. They did this to themselves cuz where else is the city going to put them?... Where it owns property.
Heard a friend of mine said the community of Joliet blocked the migrants from coming into town. The busses left and didn't drop the migrants off. Is this true? lol
