We're Number....One-Hundred-Forty?
Threats to safety in the U.S. come in many forms, from public health crises and natural disasters to mass shootings and traffic accidents. People can feel unsafe in other ways, too. Aside from the types of hazards that can cause bodily injury or other physical harm, taking out an unaffordable second mortgage, forgoing health insurance or even visiting unsecured websites are also ways people run into danger. One big worry for many people right now is the cost of inflation, which threatens Americans’ financial safety.
No one can avoid all danger, however, and we take on a certain level of risk based on where we choose to live. Some cities are simply better at protecting their residents from harm. To determine where Americans can feel most secure — in more than one sense — WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 41 key indicators of safety. Our data set ranges from traffic fatalities per capita and assaults per capita to the unemployment rate and the percentage of the population that is uninsured.
And out of one-hundred-eighty-two cities evaluated, sitting at the very bottom (least safest city) spot?
- St Louis, Missouri
Which we can understand. When we used to travel down that direction, we always made sure we had a full tank of gas and plenty of snacks about an hour before St Louis....and didn't even think about stopping until we were an hour past.
If you go to the link, start at the bottom and work your way up. It's more fun to see what cities are worse that Chicago....on a per capita basis of course. For total body count, we've been running away with that number for years.

You know it's bad when police officers from Chicago don't want to stop anywhere near your town.
As a percentage of body mass, a pimple on my ass is miniscule, yet, it irks me to pop it.
As chitown has become, effectively, a casino of odds to be a victim of violent criminal acts, well, when will the bookies be taking bets?
Break it down by only the "affected areas" and we're the winner by a landslide.
It’s like a vampire movie where no one is out after dark but criminals and idiots.
It’s not complicated Chicago is a shithole
Wait till all those Venezuelans get acclimated to Chicago winters. I'm sure we'll be in a race to the bottom.
Pretty sure there's a common denominator that separates best and worst and about everything in between. It's simple, choose to live where people share your values. It's not about color, not about race, it's values. Education, safety, respect, etc.
The weekend body count with addresses is very entertaining. So proud of my old hood Austin, grew up there in 50-60s great place with good schools until the migration or should I say the invasion. Took only a couple of years to turn it into a hell hole. Gotta love diversity. Want to have that important talk about race? Didn’t think so much easier to point blame finger and play that all powerful race card that BJ wields like a sword.
Keep the line moving.

Too, the "climate crisis" and "environmental racism" whereas there's more traffic in certain areas. Of course, this is pointed out by leftist professors/universities, who wouldn't live near the "hood!" No place to work?

There you go! It's the environment. It's not the car jacking, murders, robberies, the crop circles. The environment might be getting better. Sensible people down go out at night, to the Mag Mile, etc.
There was an old head of the company where I worked: "we can take any numbers we are handed and turn them to our favor!" True words!
Per capita is the dumbest measure around and a way for the leftists to claim “see it’s not that bad here”. If our five most violent police districts were their own municipalities, we would have the 1-5 most violent cities in the US “per capita”
"This is MAGA country!"
Aurora! woooooooo
How many MAGA cities on dat list
