Irish Democracy is defined by Tennessee Law Professor Glenn H Reynolds (better known as "Instapundit" or simply "the blogfather") as:

Looks like even blue Illinois - which is blue only because of Cook County - is a little fed up with democrats overreaching:

While the law bans more than 170 semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and handguns, it also bans handgun magazines over 15 rounds and rifle magazines over 10 rounds. Magazines do not have to be registered.
Illinois State Police published the first round of statistics Tuesday, and of more than 2.4 million Firearm Owner ID card holders, 1,050 individuals have registered a total of 3,202 firearms, .50 caliber ammunition and accessories.
“You’re at 0.0004%. That’s a rounding error,” gun rights advocate Todd Vandermyde told The Center Square.
There's our old buddy, Todd Vandermyde, still the go-to guy for gun rights info, explaining that FOUR-TEN-THOUSANDS of one percent of Illinois gun owners are in compliance with State Law (effective January 2024). The number will probably go up slightly, but....
The video we linked a couple days back warns that the Porky administration may release some "compliance numbers" closer to 70% in an effort to scare other persons into registering weapons. A truthful analysis paints a far different picture and should (but won't) make democrats take notice that the reins are slipping.

I know a few gun owners who have plans to move to Indiana over gun bans. They said they feel like they are being made a criminal in Illinois. They feel the real criminals have nothing so they don’t lose anything. They feel like they have to protect themselves and are now put into a trick bag with gun laws. Most they believe by real criminals aren’t being enforced. I guess it’s just easier to move across the boarder.
What did I just read? I don’t understand.

Since the rumors started 8 years ago that the Ballarina (Ramh Emmanuel) was aiming for the white house I became concerned. Now that Porky is in office I am scared of what's coming. Yeah, think of me as crazy like Kanye West but him and I share the same opinion. They are trying to take over our great nation we once had. I can't believe that it will happen in our life time which is a "RACE WAR". They are the ones dividing the people of this country and most people are stupid not to see it. What better way to over take a country that has lawlessness with a faulty economy where its law abiding citizens can't fend for themselves. Why do you think weapons are being prohibited? Why are criminals empowered? Why are policemen cuffed to one hand and foot? The migrants is no mistake, it's part of the strategy but later will be the scapegoat? LEOs are exempt from the AWB ban and registration requirements for both duty and non duty related weapons. good luck getting a dealer to ship parts, magazines or firearms though. most of the firearms industry would rather not deal with Illinois customers due to the draconian laws

Highland Park IL libtards passed a "handgun ban/registration" ordinance decades ago - if you registered it you didn't have to turn it in, etc. I think about 3 people actually complied. One of the firearms registered didn't have to be registered because it was a non-functional antique flintlock... Everyone forgot it was on the books until someone called the coppers to register and they said "Huh? You want to do what now?"
Then the IL Concealed Carry Act came along and pre-empted that rancid bullshit ordinance of HP's, but they haven't repealed it! Still on the books even though it's unenforceable, you know, in case something happens to the IL CCA and then their crap is live again.

I don't have to comply - moved out of State with all our treasure. Two houses, three cars, business, bank accounts, etc... Cost about $100K in commissions, moving costs, repurchasing things that didn't make sense to move because they get damaged in the move (TV's), etc... but we'll make that back in 10 yrs of property tax savings alone. Not to mention being in a nice Red state where they hold criminals accountable and don't pester us about firearms.

The percentage count is not accurate, because nobody knows how many FOID card holders actually own anything that has to be registered. But the raw number of registrations itself is telling of a refusal to register anyway.

Years ago when the city would not register and de-registered these type of firearms, if you planned on keeping them, you had to certify that you were taking them out of the city and provide the address to where they were going.
I of course provided a fictitious address far out of state, knowing that they would never check. I suppose in the unlikely event I were to have been "caught," they could have added additional charges for false statement or some B.S., but that would have been the least of my problems.

Illinois Gov. Pritzker's Family Opens New Gun Range
The sweeping “assault weapon” ban has been opposed by most of Illinois. Even a member of Gov. Pritzker's own family has opened a gun range with the very guns banned in IL.
The situation with Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and his so-called sweeping “assault weapon” ban and registration scheme has taken an even more interesting turn.
We told you a few days back how Pritzker had signed the extreme ban that outlawed many types of semi-automatic rifles and allowed citizens to keep their current guns if they register them and pay a fee. At the time he made not-so-veiled threats to law enforcement officers because there were already rumblings of possible noncompliance among legislators and sheriffs.
Just a week later, sheriffs were already fighting back, with more than 80 percent of the state’s 102 sheriffs saying they oppose the law and won’t enforce it. As Coles County Sheriff Kent Martin said at the time, “Citizens who own these firearms legally, have done things properly to get them and who use them responsibly, they’re not the ones who are the problem.”
Now, media reports indicate that some of Pritzker’s own family members are in opposition to such mass firearms bans. In fact, according to chicagocitywire.com, Pritzker’s cousin is now opening a gun range in Somers, Wisconsin, about 65 miles north of Chicago, where people can shoot the very guns Pritzker and Democrats in the Illinois legislature have outlawed.
Jennifer Pritzker, formerly named James Pritzker, is a retired Lt. Col. with the Illinois Army National Guard and is the brainchild behind the range, which will also house the Pritzker Military Museum and Library, which will move to the new location from Chicago.

Being honest, why would someone comply? Its not like they know what you have in the first place, even if they somehow had the resources to trace every firearm bought in Illinois they can't prove where you maintain it, the ranges don't give a shit, most people aren't getting pulled over and searched on the reg.
