Lead By Example
A comment in the post about Ol' Uncle Lar's "aggressive" policing demand he lead by example.
We think that's a great idea! In fact, we've even got a list of requirements for his Lead By Example Tour:
- Ol' Uncle Lar and another exempt of his choice (must be White, Hispanic or Asian - diversity you know!) will go out on patrol, preferably in 006, 015, 011. 007 is out since he lived/worked there for a while and no units. It will be 3rd or 1st Watch and they will be assigned a day off group.
- They will respond to in-progress calls and write their own reports. They will wear body cameras and be held to CPD policy and Illinois State Law.
- There will be tickets. There will be arrests, at least one every other day. And there WILL be TRR's. The TRR's will be reviewed for accuracy and completeness and approved by the Watch Operations Lieutenant (yeah, we're aware of the approval process...work around it)
- They will be required to call Detectives for any felony arrests. They will answer the ASA inquiries for the denials. Should a charge actually be approved, they will make the preliminary hearing and all subsequent court appearances, regardless of sleep deprivation and upcoming shifts.
- They will answer all COPA inquiries (with appropriate representation) and should administrative charges be filed or a Federal lawsuit materialize, they'll go to court or callback for that, too.
After a full three period training cycle, the results of Ol' Uncle Lar and his partner's activity will be posted for everyone to see on in a publicly available manner. He's talked-the-talk about "aggressive policing," but we need to see if he can actually walks-the-walk. Then, and only then, can we see if "aggressive policing" is the usual bullshit or it's actually real change.
To make it really interesting, maybe thirty or forty exempts should man a watch in one of the shittier Districts for three months. Just for fun, one of their days off will be cancelled per cycle with maybe seventy-two hours notice....screwing up previously planned family events.
And after all is said and done, HeyJackass.com can sell t-shirts.

Aggressive Policing will get you fired, put in jail and sued. Your life will be destroyed by the media and everyone second guessing you. Only a fool, goof, idiot, moron, and weirdo would go out there and do that crap! When all the nonsense comes down the bosses will move on to other jobs and leave you holding the bag. There will always be that person who believes the bosses. To them I hope it is all worth it and it works out for you!
I saw Brock M’s cover letter for Superintendent 6 months ago. That’s exactly what he wrote was needed to change the direction of the drifting ship called the Chicago Police Dept.
But who would run the Department while he does honest work for a change?

Can you imagine if the Commander from Area One Nicki Watson worked a beat car. Her shrieking voice would cause chaos on any call.
BJ is terrified that coppers will just stand down during the DNC and will define his legacy as a bigger loser than he already is now. This is why all this aggressive policing is being talked about.

That group would all have a hard time putting their cars in drive mode. Their talk is cheap would never put themselves in harms way. Most if not all double and triple merit not qualified to hold any rank above patrolman.
While aggressive policing is exactly the solution to the current problems ANYONE who does it is asking to wind up at the very short end of stick. Your bosses will hang you out to dry without a second thought. Your crooked union will provide the close pins for your time on the clothesline. The courts will bleed you dry. Finally your jail time will be very dangerous. So get agressive if you dare but heed the warning.

I've been thinking the same thing since the mayor decided to put the gym teacher in charge. But I was thinking along the line of famous tv gym teachers. I thought maybe "Mr Cooper" from hanging with mr cooper. Then I thought of "Mr Heyman" from Seinfeld. But then I realized that "Coach Buzzcut" from Beavis and Buthead would be perfect.

Once bush and Obama started handing out free phones with cameras, the police officers days were numbered and a new dawn of criminality was ensured. Criminals are not nice people, despite what their eighth grade pictures show, and police sometimes have to respond in kind, maybe a little harsher. It's what keeps the Karen's of the world safe, which funny enough, they're finding out just what their sensibilities have wrought, they're now at the mercy of the criminals.

I would almost buy into this if Lar didn’t spend the last 15+ years in the academy working out or merry boosted up the ranks for God knows what. Not that I would go back to aggressive policing, but I would at least understand. I cannot understand his pleas because he has no skin in the game, hasn’t for many many years.
Concur regarding Exempts having to work a Beat Car once a month. And experience the Reality of the Street.
In the Army, in the Airborne, EVERYONE from 17 year old Private to 60 year old 4- Star General, jumps at least Quarterly, usually Monthly, and takes the “ 800 Foot Step” ( Above Ground Level) into the “ Black Ink of a Moonless Night”.

Read a book about how the Asian car manufactures operate, from the CEO on down every boss has to work various jobs in the plant for 2 weeks to a month to understand what is going on, now Larry that would be "change we could believe in!" All the gold star ridiculous so called exempts who are exempt from working could easily do this, the alderman all 50 of them carry gold enforcement badges let them join in the fun. This call for aggressive policing is gonna result in the next Van Dyke. It’s election season and the left has to galvanize their voters and cause chaos to cause a distraction for another election fraud. When you play the tape to the end their plan is to use the police as a weapon against their opponents and it’s time to do it again. BLM and Antifa are waiting in the wings. Larry was the use of force guy and he testified that Van Dyke was wrong when actually VD followed Larry’s policies. And because of that they made him Superintendent. I concur, McCrudden was always humping in 020, conducting traffic stops, backing officers up and even going to in progress calls. I remember he went over the air and let a car chase continue, even after a weak Lt went over the air to terminate. Four offenders got caught, vehicle recovered and a gun and no one got hurt. Gee, imagine that! A boss let's the police be the police and you get to arrest the bad guys!!
Too bad Don thinks it’s still 1993. And he can lay off getting the girls’ phone numbers already.

No boss “works” the street, they drive around an do nothing. They have no issue stopping something they see because they know if they go on the air, every suck ass on the street will drop everything and race over there and the boss will dump whatever it is on them.
Not a cop used to sleep W/ a police chief when her hubby was in Washington but every suburban police dept I know makes every sworn officer do one shift a month in a scary police car. They are required to make traffic stops & answer calls for service & basically demonstrate that they still can do the job that they were originally hired for clue: ( protect the public & serve the public) not just themselves!! Anyway a training Sgt. or Lt. Observe & then fills out a form that goes in their file. When did ANYONE in CPD from commander up fire their sidearm and qualify????? Anyone can shoot but can you hit water when you fall out of a boat?? I heard a story of a female boss who couldn’t get her magazine in her weapon……. Then the range officer told her “boss look which way the bullets are pointing” magically once she turned the mag around it slid in like well I’ll leave the slid in like alone for someone else to come up W/ something clever. What I meant was that every chief officer & division commanders as well as all Detectives & anyone else inside who no longer works the streets. An instructor of constitutional police has no room to talk. Career cry babies with just enough wack to get to the academy but not enough to get promoted. One class I had a guy whined about getting a parking ticket for twenty minutes and claimed that was a stressor. It was fucking pathetic, pay your ticket and shut the fuck up.

One class I had a guy whined about getting a parking ticket for twenty minutes and claimed that was a stressor. It was fucking pathetic, pay your ticket and shut the fuck up.

We were not active coppers retired from all over the country on contract, they let us go and brought in over 90 active cpd to teach the class probably an active copper taught it!

Ok, but there was a Constitutional Policing class before and after you guy that was staffed by CPD instructors. Clearly you are not CPD and the comment was not directed to you. I’m talking about the career cry babies with just enough clout to get to the academy not enough to get promoted. I actually found you guys much better than the CPD. It seems like you guys knew how to hold a classes attention and weren’t just mindlessly reading a power point.
