Officer Wounded
Chicago police officers exchanged gunfire with a man, killing him, late Monday morning in South Shore,Superintendent Larry Snelling said at a news conference Monday afternoon.
A police officer was also shot in the arm during the incident near East 73rd Street and South Dante Avenue, Snelling said outside University of Chicago Medicine.
According to Snelling, the officers were attempting to make an investigatory stop when the person fled on foot and fired at the officers, who shot back, striking him. Earlier Monday, the Chicago Fire Department said the person had been taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in “extremely critical” condition. Snelling said the man was pronounced dead shortly after noon.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, Snelling said.
Well done.
A speedy recovery wished to the Officers involved.

Anyone shooting at the police ..... deserves to be expired ... neighbor CPD says he is out next year .. 56 years old..
We’ll done officers stay safe
So thankful the officers are okay and the offender is dead
bravo
News conference is comical. All the gold stars standing behind him like little lapdogs.
COPA said they can’t hurt you if they’re fleeing with a gun in hand
MSM wants to know basis for street investigation. RME L
God speed for the officers and a job well done.
Thinking of the officer who was wounded and those officers who pursued. Thank you. One thing I noticed this afternoon on the first news radio accounts was that “an officer was shot but COPA was investigating.” At that time no word was made about the officer’s condition or who shot him or what the circumstances were, just COPA is investigating as if they will get to the bottom of it. No word that detectives were investigating. I’ve noticed this seems to be the standard mantra with the news on every story as if COPA is the only trustworthy source of information.
Unfortunately this is what Police Work is all about. Stopping the Bad People. Wish the Officers involved a speedy recovery and hope everyone working is Ok.
Yeah!!!! He was made unalive. Well done Officers. Speedy recovery to the injured PO.
Why the hell do so many people have to stand behind the Superintendent? We look f&@$#n terrible. We look terrible because they look terrible. If it’s the appearance of uniformity they’re going for that’s hilarious, great joke guys, now get that group gaggle the f#*k off the TV because you see looking good on TV just isn’t for everybody.
Pray for the officer's speedy recovery.
Perfect ending the good guy rides off in the sunset on a white stallion & the shitbag sorry alleged offender takes a dirt nap! God bless the officers. The injured & the good shot!!!
All the lamestream news outlets are saying along the lines of "We have no idea what the cops wanted to talk to him about, they're not saying..."..
Seriously? Why should that matter a whit? Cop asks you to come on over and have a chat about something, go over there. Behave. No need to start shooting at the coppers... If you get arrested, welp, this is Hellinois, Crook County, Shitty of Chiraq - you'll be out in about 30 minutes, so relax...
As a retired copper & a citizen of this city
God bless the Officer that was wounded!!
And to his partners that shot & killed the
Honor Student on the way to the library,
OUTSTANDING!!! Great Work Officers.
Wishing that tac officer a speedy recover.....and good riddance to the habitual offender who successfully took the Room er Ambient Temperature Challenge.
Would love to see a GoFundMe setup for the officer involved
C.....got the Golden Ticket. Hopefully the powers to be give you a spot. O'hare Airport sounds lovely this time of the year. No more blue cards
I always wondered why a speaker needs all those bodies behind him. Insecurity?
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Street stop? Thought CPD had prohibited those under that new consent decree?
That's the Chicago way !!!
I hope the officer is ok. That said, has anyone else noticed how violent the robberies have become? The shootings are gang on gang, but the robberies are on civilians, it's a better indicator of the level of violence in the city and we need some reporting...
THE END!
PERIOD!
THE END!
Hope officers are not prosecuted by reporters, er, leftist media.
It might be nice for the Chief-Mayor to stand up for any officer involved!
Make an example of this POS! "He gone!"
The officer was shot in the arm! The news reports that like the officer had a cold or sore feet. Being shot is a lif changing situation involving pain and suffering that might easily last a lifetime.

Roid Rage. Relax, there's plenty of other things to do other than this job.
The City is just a little bit safer today.

What are detectives investigating? They have no authority investigating Chicago PO's involved shootings, those detectives serve only as clerks. COPA runs the show and call all shots when it comes to CPD involved shootings. Back in 2019 Des Plaines officers chased some black criminal from DP all the way into the 017th district. The savage crashed into a store on Irving Park I believe. He then shot one of our Tact guys in the head as the officers arrived on scene. A Des Plaines PO neutralized the animal shortly after, he put a few rounds in the savage, and it was beautiful ending. When we secured the scene and put up tape COPA investigators tried to force their way in to conduct their "investigation". DP Chief seeing what the useless cowards were trying to do he immediately ordered us all to remove COPA investigators from his crime scene. The COPA cowards stood there looking stupid and powerless like the rest of the ghetto gallery. I was hoping to make that first COPA arrest that night. Unfortunately for Chicago Police Department, COPA owns us.
lady brutally attacked by the democratic youths
where's Oshea ??? wtf Matt
get us some police protection
will Matt back ending sanctuary status of Chicago
12:32 am did you see the exempt , I never passed a test , wearing a short sleeve shirt
that dude looks like he should be on the short bus , who is that unqualified police impersonator
WGN's resident cop hater opened the 6:00 news program with: "Police officer shot trying to stop a man walking on the south side". So the cops are stopping people on the south side for walking? What a load of crap.

Detectives investigate the criminal act that led up to the shooting. COPA has to stand down until that is complete.
