3-1-1 Construction
Proving once again, cops are an afterthought:
- Recently officers assigned/detailed to ARS were notified that minor construction will be performed at 2111 W Lexington, which includes the installation of a new rooftop a/c unit. The installation of the new a/c unit involves the use of a crane to lift the unit and supplies onto the roof. Due to safety concerns with the installation, employees assigned to the civilian side of 311 (except for a few supervisors) and the Department of Health next door have been assigned to work remotely.Guess where the ARS officers are… working their assigned stations. To their credit, the bosses of ARS do care about the safety of officers and have made their concerns well known, but it is the higher-ups that apparently do not care and are requiring everyone to come in on their assigned times. While I do not believe anything will happen, it is the lack of safety measures taken by the police side that are deeply concerning. This is also a clear indication that 35th doesn’t care, or does not know what’s going on. Otherwise, the entire building would be shut down during the installation of the a/c unit, or at minimum, during the time when the crane is being used to lift equipment and supplies.
Imagine if the crane failed and a mutli-ton AC unit went though the roof of building....even partially.
Good to know our bosses have our best interests in mind.

Does IL OSHA have any authority over city owned buildings?
If I was the crane operator? NFW would I do that lift. I would not want to be a mass murderer if the lift went wrong.
Blue Flu fits perfect for times like that BS
Talk to the site construction manager. No way would he allow a lift onto an occupied building if he thought anything could possibly, maybe go worng
The 35th street brain trust showed their concern during covid by allowing us to attend in person training, when all orher city agencies worked remotely.
Remember the crane collapse in Manhattan, NYC 5 months ago. It was on this blog, apparently our leaders are clueless. Best youtube video is: “New York Crane Collapse Cause, MORE Fatal Collapses.”
Civilian employees at 311 shouldn’t worry. A group of them are on the chopping block with those pesky fraudulent PPP loans so let’s not worry so much about them.
Places that have rooftop units, replaced which way extreme amounts of weight and you have to use a helicopter to lift it. People in the building are not there when they are putting the units up there because if the building caved in or a crane could fall, it has happened or another failure. You would have many people either dead or maimed permanently. Typical what the city does they don’t care for the people do you think if this was being done at City Hall the county building the governors toiletless mansions any of these people would be inside
Come on SCC, BOSSES? Use proper English please "STUPIDVISORS" is the correct terminology.
It’s all good. They closed off the bathrooms where the AC unit was installed on the roof. The lone port-a potty was luxurious. I can’t wait to get mesothelioma from the asbestos floor tiles they are currently ripping up while everyone is still in the building answering calls. Cancer? You signed up for this. Too bad plebe.
There's no way the company doing the lift will allow anyone in that building during it. The CPD may not care, but the fines to the contractor from OSHA make the contractor care.
so the fake iod, psych, stripped and pending need to go to work in a dangerous place like everyone else on the street? boo hoo cry cry
It would make for a great video.
Cops in callback already have one foot in the fire, so what's the problem? Maybe have those callback officers work the desk at the district level. Put those regular house mice back on the street.

I hear ya buddy. The people with conditions such as MS and cancer are such assholes and should just die. Just wait until karma catches up with you or someone you love.
Axemen 009 there are a lot of trailers available at the trailer park if anyone wants to go there few redneck metheads to deal with but other than that it’s great
Rooftop hvac units are bulky not heavy. If they were heavy enough to go through a roof they would be too heavy for a roof.I’ll bet the phones are effected by the crane and thats why the move.
I have to be honest that I don’t believe anyone of the exempts on this shit department knows what’s going on. The past few mayors have put the most incompetent idiots this department has to offer and allowed them to become exempts. This department has always had idiot bosses throughout the years , but NEVER has it been this overrun with this many imbeciles. A huge portion of the problem was Eddie Blow Job Johnson. His only qualification to get promoted was you had to part of the same fraternity he was in or be a sorority sista.
Brings back memories of the blue cross building addition when part of the peco construction crane crashed through the existing roof shit happens and it ain’t pretty

You know as well as many of us a lot of people are on the bullshit not all but a lot of them are been like that for years and years look around you know that’s what that meant
Whatever your opinion (informed, ignorant or otherwise) of Callback is, as they call 35th Street Fort Fellatio, they should call Callback Fort Forgotton or Fort Death Row. If youve ever been there you get it, if you havent and are accustomed to talking through your ass, you dont. BUT, maybe one day you WILL land there for whatever reason, and if and when you do, trust me, you can stick the ticket for your benefit squarely up your ass. Asshat.
Heat was out for 12 hours got down to 55 degrees
Men's bathroom is closed gave one red port a potty in the parking lot to use
Great leadership.... New captain is a complete fucking tool

Officers who talk shit about callback are the officers who don't know their fellow officers (who aren't the shitbag officers people know of) that get sent there as like a torture realm the department uses it as for officers they "want to/find to discipline". They also are the same officers who are fucking idiots who think they'll NEVER land in callback or get stripped, we won't be buying your 10-1 benefit ticket fuck face. Don't you fucking dare send me your Zelle, Paypal or bullshit fundraiser GoFundme link for that bullshit either, you'll be getting laughs and mockery from me and the other Po's.
People seem to forget Unit #375, callback is not only where the light duty personal who physically aren't up to strength yet work, but also are the same people who you WORKED with and got stuck over there by this anti-police/defund the police mindset city and department. Can you imagine how many people are there for justified shootings/UoFs, incidents? Can you also imagine how many people there are there for the stupid shit coppers should never do and you should never support? Yeah... I thought so, once you see one of your friends you know well that got crucified by this city/department/etc for doing everything by the T on a job/incident, this city will do whatever it takes to not protect their employee but to destroy them alive in everyway to keep/save face legality wise. Why are the people who do justified shootings sitting there for months and years there? Why are there the COVID portal officers there for just insubordination for over 2 years? Why are there officers there who get picked up old CR's that were closed reopened to a double jeopardy/double hearing of how their punishments should be when it's all said and done?
I know why, it's easier to strip someone and make them sit in a box answering non-emergency calls for an unknown period of time basically destroying not only their mental health, physical health but to basically say as well "we will tell you what happens to your case, when it's time, for now work here." That's how much of an asshole this department is to it's blue shirts and fellow officers you see.
I would say if the priority was about the officers in callback, they'd end the bs months and years of investigations for nothing. Ontop of working in an environment where shitbags lurk the lot and the building is a half-ass broken down office. But that will never happen, city would rather make payouts than do the right thing for free.

Depends on the size, but for a large building? Figure 3000 pounds.
So you're putting a car or SUV up there when you figure all the other crap that goes with the unit. Straps never break. Cables never pop off pulleys. Wind never causes things to move in the wrong direction. Pallets never fail. Road that the crane is parked on never collapses. Nothing ever goes wrong. >sarcasm<
Seriously, anyone inside the building when that's being put up top needs to have their heads examined because they're nutting futs. If my boss told me to be inside the building, my response would be "Yeah, fuck you. No way. If it's so safe, you go do it boss." then get the hell out of there. I wouldn't want to be in the buildings anywhere in the path of failure for that crane either.
In the world of Chicago Corruption, overlooked minor corruption just breeds bigger more serious corruption. Then the monster Corruption comes.
