Larritorious v COPA

A difference of opinion:

  • Despite a freeze on police discipline cases, the superintendent of the Chicago Police Department late Thursday issued a lengthy, stern critique of the city agency that probes police misconduct, accusing investigators of leaning on “personal opinions and speculation.”

That leads to unfairness, Superintendent Larry Snelling said.

“When we speculate, when we add our personal opinions, then those penalties become punitive and unfair and unfair to the officers,” Snelling said. “What we’re seeing are egregious penalties for extremely minor infractions. Now, oftentimes when I go through these reports, I agree that the infraction should have been sustained, but a 30-day (or) 90-day suspension is egregious.”

In the last eight weeks, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability has recommended the Police Department fire 28 officers — an “unprecedented” number, CPD’s top attorney told the Chicago Police Board.

COPA is looking to clear the decks in anticipation of a shitload of work on tap for August.

And remember, COPA is staffed by police haters and lib-tards with axes to grind because their daddy's didn't love them (when they even know who their daddy's are.) So Larry is correct to call out the obvious bias built into 99% of COPA cases.

But actions speak louder than words, and so far, we're not seeing a lot of action on the part of the top brass.

Quick look at the police board site looks like it's all 5-10 year old incidents they're suddenly after, and multiple attempts to fire those that refused the clot shot orders and process. All the new ones pending are probably more jab tyranny.

If Larry is speaking out against COPA's recommendations to fire cops, it's because someone or someones in that group are his peoples. He's not fighting for countless other cops who were wrongfully terminated or suspended. He's just speaking up now because it's affecting his buddies. Who are the 28 and what are their connections to Larry and his crew of merit clowns?

You'll need a gross of strategically placed spycams, ninja access to their known, and not yet known, hangouts, haunts, candy shacks and such, before you can actually see, and hear, their actions.

Just stock up on microwave popcorn before you review the videos thus produced and harvested.

COPA has gotten totally out of hand. We are not getting a fair shake at all with them. Maybe the union can sue to have our discipline sent to arbitration instead of copa? They are out to get us and it shows when they recommend 28 officers be fired in 8 weeks. That’s egregious. That’s not even speaking of the other cases they’re hitting officers and supervisors with heafty suspensions. The union should be fighting this and making a shit ton of noise about THIS instead of spending all our money steak dinners.

Is that a misprint? 28 officers to be fired over 2 months?? Holy shitballs!! No wonder nobody wants to do anything anymore. U make one mistake and it’s obvious they are going to fire you. How can u blame officers that don’t want to get into anything and even more alarming is how do you get officers to actually work in such a toxic environment.

Why isn’t this the lead story today. This is unbelievable and unacceptable. I didn’t know it was this bad. I’m thinking this info will make a lot of officers rethink doing absolutely anything proactive at all ever again. And, where is our union?

Are u fucking kidding me! 28 officers in 8 weeks. That’s pretty much an entire watch. What the fuck is going on here. When is this madness going to end. I have felt for a while that copa was really out to get us, now I have the proof. I’ve been on a long time, it’s never been this bad. Not even remotely close. If any media outlets want to know why cops are doing the bare minimum now a days, look no further than this… exhibit A. The smoking gun.

There are a few officers who just got 45 to 90 suspensions from the 2020 BLM riots. There were no complainants. Remember this at the Convention. They only want to punish officers. Let the city burn. And if you work in a district where the Alderman voted against our arbitrated award you should police accordingly, give them what they want.

It has always been personal and never professional and that was the same with OPS and IPRA. A lot of times when you go down with your attorney to be interviewed you realize by the questions being asked that they already made a decision about recommended discipline and your interview is just a formality.

Time for Snelling to name a 1st Deputy, reduce exempt rank positions.
Time to revamp districts, 22 should end at Vincennes on the east and 85thSt on the North. Increase beats to 15 and give taxpayers the protection they deserve.

Only reason why I haven’t Left CPD yet is because of the benefits, but it’s getting harder and harder to want to stay working for this toxic work environment department. Also I don’t think the pension will be there by the time I can retire, so I am the idiot that’s still working for a toxic work environment department that at any time can say oh we are going to fire you for this (even tho years ago that wasn’t even a fireable offense). I do love being a police officer but working for this department is one big nightmare. Also look at how many officers were involved in a police shooting and copa wants them fired saying they violated our use of force policy. Go look at the police board website, it’s ridiculous. A lot of cases, the superintendent disagrees with copa but the one random member of the police doesn’t think the superintendent had enough to override copa therefore the officers go on a no pay status and have to wait to face the police board. We are the only big city where the superintendent doesn’t have to ultimate power to override the civilian oversight.

Also we are one of the only jobs where you get put on a no pay status while you fight for your job, that is ridiculous and I thought years ago cook county courts ruled that’s not Legal, maybe I’m wrong about that.

To my brother and sister in blue stay safe and work smart!

I agree. Lots of sourpusses because McDermott aka McDumbit didn't get the top spot. Never seen a Supe stand up to COPA. All Johnson was good for was his famous" I got more questions than answers" Or Hillard's "I'll sleep good at night knowing I fired those officers" Or Weis" Gotta run" statement, followed by his federally charging a cop.
Give him a break.

I watched the video of the Snelling vs. COPA bout on Youtube. Snelling was seated away from the police board while that corrupt COPA administrator Kersten was seated at the table with the police board. What does that tell you?
Maybe COPA deputy administrator, Ephraim Eaddy, gave Kersten the chair that his father, Michael Eaddy vacated when he was thrown off the board. That's right. The deputy administrator of COPA , Ephraim Eaddy's ,daddy, Michael Eaddy, sat on the POLICE board while his son was tossing him cases . A real fair balanced system.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

99 out of 100 times the Communist office of Police Assassinations make up their minds on discipline before you walk in the room. They create a narrative and run with it. They phrase questions to get the answers they want. Should you not give those answers they get pissed off!!!!!!!!!! The 1% of the cases where they haven't made up their mind you best get on your knees and beg forgiveness or your going to be at call back. COPA can change their mind to stick it in your rear end should you give answers not saying your sorry for being born when they were originally only thinking of a suspension. They will turn on you in a heartbeat and go for the jugular.

COPA are evil sub human beings that I wouldn't trust to tell me what day it is.

Wanting to fire them for what? Anyone who does anything outside of responding to jobs is opening themselves up to a lot of liability. It’s rare just responding to a job is going to go to hell. It can happen and has happened but I often see the charges for coppers being self initiated events such as foot chases, car chases, off duty domestics, and so on. Time for all of us to get together and agree to protect each other. Don’t get someone else involved in your own nonsense.

Doesn’t the superintendent make a recommendation but the Police Board can overrule that recomendation and proceed to fire you
Arbitrator Benn ruled that police should have a right to choose arbitration if they want but the City Council won’t approve that ruling, only the part about wages
Also I think you are right about COPA going back over old cases, especially shootings and deciding to fire the offjcer

Dont let Larritorious’ little speech fool you he could give two fucks about his officers. Guy cares more about rewriting the bump card order and suckin farts out of Johnson’s ass than he does about his officers. We can’t even get cars to patrol with, while a whole fleet of SDI cars sit stagnant in various lots throughout the city. You all thought he was going to be the positive change we’ve been waiting for, but he’s just the same company man his predecessors were. Insanity (CPD brass): doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results Stay fetal, watch your 6.
