And seventeen is.....the number of rounds commonly found in a semi-automatic pistol.
In plain English, Dexter did a mag-dump at the police.
He didn't fire eleven times, he fired everything he had.

UPDATE: Some readers and ALL of the media have missed the point. The Officers didn't fire 96 times. They fired 79 times as accounted for in all of the TRR paperwork.
But "79" doesn't have the attention grabbing appeal of "almost 100" in COPA's and the lilb-tarded media attempt to stir up the ghetto cauldron into some sort of behavior that can be exploited for other purposes.

I remember this and the uproar that came with it. So I researched it at the time. This was to clear up a loophole that you could never resist an officer, whether on or off duty, no matter what. They closed it so that significant others could defend themselves if they were being beaten or sexually assaulted because the way the previous law was written, the significant other could be charged.

I don't think the wounded officer could've fired a shot. He had his asp in his hand when the shooting started, and he understandably got the fuck out of there immediately. I only watched a few of the videos once, so not sure if he ever even had his gun drawn. He was down to one functioning hand and had a radio in it for some of that time to call for help. So, poor innocent Dexter decided to shoot the only cop on scene who wasn't holding a gun. But the media will undoubtedly focus on Dexter not having a gun in his hand when a few rounds struck him, completely ignoring the fact that he was known to be armed with a gun that he had already fired at the police multiple times, and wasn't exactly surrendering when he exited the vehicle and walked toward the officers. It's not unreasonable to assume he still had the gun and intended to use it to shoot the officers. They need to just rewrite the law so that once you shoot at the police, you've forfeited your right to live, regardless of what actions you take after you fire that first shot.
COPA doesn't need to be disbanded; it needs to be run by families who live in Mt.Greenwood & Edison Park, so we can get the lazy shitbags off the job (hey, I can dream).

He said further evidence will be released at a later date and we should believe in the truthfulness of their investigation.

The reasonable people see that if they post their opinions they get hammered at work, perhaps fired, and their home infor etc given to social media. That's why it's over in this country. But remember Russia is the enemy, not the folks running the good ole USA.

Because if you watch the video he was in the best position to see and engage the offender. Other officers were blocked by vehicles, taking cover with a bad angle and that officer had the clearest picture of the entire field. Good job officer, you saved lives by continuously engaging the offender and providing your fellow officers time to tactically retreat all while keeping the offender pinned down and attempting to terminate the threat of the person trying to KILL you and your friends. I am 100 pro Police but I agree with 0902 AM. I always said I dont want a pro Police Mayor, I dont want a anti Police Mayor, I want a fair Mayor. This is something we have not had for years.
Officers in Tennessee were shot at and one officer died. They were approaching a car and the criminals inside started shooting at police. I wonder if the "community" is going to protest that Officer being killed by the black offender.

To cops here: How are the number of shots determined? Is it self reported by the officer? Does somebody count shots from body cameras? Is each officer only allowed to carry a certain number of magazines and they count how many bullets are left?
I believe the criminal, who supposedly has an outstanding gun case, forfeits his life after he fires a shot. I don’t give a fuck that he graduated high school six or seven years ago and “wanted” to be a sportscaster. But I’m trying to understand how the shots are counted and attributed to individual officers.

Then 11th district commander wanted him released on pretrial fairness act, however he couldn’t because of his background. Right from the IOD order:
wishing to leave the state while on the medical roll will submit a To-From-Subject Report to the Commanding Officer, Medical Services Section. A member will not leave the state without the written approval of the Commanding Officer, Medical Services Section. A member requesting permission to leave the state for a period greater than fifteen days must also obtain the written approval of the Chief, Bureau of Organizational Development.

One question and one observation-
Where did the ‘96 shots’ figure come from? I’m guessing it was from a review of the vehicle/BW cameras, yes?
In all 4 cases, the officers involved clearly marked ‘No’ in response to the section “Was discharge only to destroy/deter an animal?”
I would argue that they should have answered ‘Yes’ to this.
I fear they may be in trouble for falsifying their TRRs.

Over 26 years and if you read the order you can leave. You have to address a to from but I can’t seem to find the correct person to address it to. The order is pretty clear just need the persons name. If not I will have them take me off IOD, use my own time and then when I get back head right back to IOD.

If you're actually a police officer, which I would normally doubt, but it's entirely possible with this new crop of hires, you don't belong on this job. I hope you'll realize this one day soon. Your attitude isn't the "change that's needed" or whatever nonsense you think it is. It's incompatible with actual police work. You probably buy into the "he needed it more than I do" bullshit when a victim gets their shit taken by some piece of shit criminal. Using terms like "accountability" and "transparency" without realizing we already have accountability and transparency for the police, and have for decades. The profession will not become better due to these things, because we've had these things, and the profession has only gotten worse. People like you being hired is the proof of that. Increase in crime is proof of that. Lowered standards to entice new hires, who normally wouldn't ever be considered, is proof of that. I hope you find the job you're supposed to have, because you're not the police, no matter what costume you put on. If you want accountability and transparency, please post your name and where you work. It should all be public knowledge, in the interest of accountability and transparency, which you say you want. Make the profession better by practicing what you preach. You won't do it though. You want accountability and transparency for everyone else, because you're most likely hiding inside somewhere, insulated from actual police work, with no chance of that transparency and accountability catching up to you. This post reminded me of something else that could make the count inaccurate. If an officer ejects a live round for any reason, or drops a mag that isn't empty and a round pops out, or wasn't smart enough to keep a round chambered, or counted wrong while loading mags, etc., the official count of rounds fired would be off. Even finding live rounds on scene, unless in a magazine, wouldn't change the official count. So, the number of actual rounds fired could be lower than even the official reports. This could be one or two rounds, or it could be 20. Whatever the actual count though, it shouldn't matter, because he shot first and deserved every round available delivered in his direction.

Read your general orders and HR medical info. We’ve always had to write a to/from to leave the state. You’re nurse sounds like she doesn’t know her job. Good luck with your case. Hopefully she doesn’t screw it up.

hey moron, if you read the general order, it says to address it to commanding officer, medical services section not the commander of your unit of assignment and will not leave without the written approval of the commanding officer medical services section. I guess reading comprehension isn't a strong suit for CPD, I just needed the damn C/O name.
