For the Ignorant

And by Ignorant, we specifically mean:

  • the jagoff mayor Conehead;
  • the worthless Crimesha
  • the useless head of COPA Andrea Kersten
  • dickhead Durbin
  • governor Fata$$
  • and the sniveling coward "superintendent" Larritorious Smelling

Here's the Supreme Court decision regarding persons in vehicles:

The Officers were completely within the Law ordering Dexter from the vehicle following the stop. Regardless of the reason for the stop, once you are ordered from the car, you MUST exist the vehicle.

Here's the relevant part of the Illinois Law:

  • (720 ILCS 5/7-5)(from Ch. 38, par. 7-5) Sec. 7-5. Peace officer's use of force in making arrest. (a) A peace officer, or any person whom he has summoned or directed to assist him, need not retreat or desist from efforts to make a lawful arrest because of resistance or threatened resistance to the arrest. He is justified in the use of any force which he reasonably believes, based on the totality of the circumstances, to be necessary to effect the arrest and of any force which he reasonably believes, based on the totality of the circumstances, to be necessary to defend himself or another from bodily harm while making the arrest.

An Officer had just been shot by Dexter. Therefore, Deadly Force is authorized, even demanded, due to the actions of the offender, and until such time as the offender ceased his actions. The video, however shaky, shows Dexter holding, and firing a gun....and firing first.

And we can't believe we have to cite this Law, but in light of the politicians (and we include Larritorious in this category) slobbering all over a dead felon's testicles, here's the topper:

  • 720 ILCS 5/7-7)(from Ch. 38, par. 7-7) Sec. 7-7. Private person's use of force in resisting arrest. A person is not authorized to use force to resist an arrest which he knows is being made either by a peace officer or by a private person summoned and directed by a peace officer to make the arrest, even if he believes that the arrest is unlawful and the arrest in fact is unlawful.

By Illinois Law, THERE IS ZERO RIGHT TO RESIST. If you feel an arrest or a traffic stop is unlawful, even if you know it with 100% certainty, your ONLY LEGAL course of action and/or correction is THROUGH THE COURTS, not on the street and certainly not by shooting at the police.

And although COPA is going to try to hang their hats on "too many shots," there is nothing in the law that specifies how many shots a "reasonable police officer" must fire to stop a threat. Anything by COPA is purely speculation, an Administrative matter and perhaps a Training Issue.

Ask Larritorious - he spent his career at the Training Academy - mostly getting laid by various willing recruits - but near enough to a classroom that by the process of osmosis, may have absorbed some passing knowledge of the Law.

Serious question....

Do you, in your heart of hearts, believe any of the people ( or folks ) mentioned in your post from the Governor down to the lowest COPA apparatchik give even one scintilla of a fuck about what the law says?

Of course that question, while serious, was rhetorical. Anyone of like mind knows perfectly well the law in Illinois is not absolute but is a malleable object which can be molded, shaped, bent and contorted or just plain ignored to serve the whims of the politicians in the moment.

As if the repeated and daily reminders in recent years weren't enough, it's once again made clear the Democrat scum in the city and in the supermajority in the legislature and the Governor have cast their lot with the criminal.

Scc be honest, A great post. But Supreme Court case law & IL law means nothing they are going to at min lose there jobs , but might go to jail. The Law means nothing. It's emotions with mob rule. They want dead cops. Not dead unless do nothing rapist, murderers, gun toting assholes who are losers running the world out on bond.

In five years look back at this post. Family got millions, a cop in jail, and it went vs the law, and by then you can probably legally kill cops just on " well , I didn't think I broke the law"

No matter how many times FOX or NEWSMAX cite the truth or the law, even at the Supreme Court Level, the only relevant portion of any law that demoRats adhere to is what the demoRats want it to mean, going so far as totally ignoring the law or a Court finding. The officers, unfortunately, will have to exhaust the appeals process. And yet, the demoRats will continue at the lower municipal level and lower court level to follow whatever it wants the law to mean. Thereby wasting taxpayers’ dollars year in and out, no many cases it takes to teach the demoRats the law, with no consequences for the bad demoRat actors.

Tribune editorial. Fairer than I expected. Long paste but most don’t have subscriptions

https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/04/10/editorial-dexter-reed-police-shooting-copa-brandon-johnson/

In a city where public safety is by far the most worrying issue, the last thing Chicago needed was another police shooting ending in death for anyone — officers or civilians. But in the death of 26-year-old Dexter Reed in Humboldt Park last month, that’s what we have, and so we must confront the facts wherever they lead, as dispassionately and productively as possible.

The first and most obvious lesson: If you’re stopped by police and asked to roll down your window or get out of your car, do so. And if you shoot at police, they will — and should — shoot back. Lost by too many in the anger over Reed’s death was the fact that he shot a police officer who, as Mayor Brandon Johnson properly noted on Tuesday following release of the multiple videos offering views of what happened, was lucky to escape with the injuries he did. We easily could have been mourning two deaths here.

Even the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, with whom police Superintendent Larry Snelling has grappled over what he believes to be overly critical positions on police conduct, concluded that Reed shot first at cops who were yelling at him to unlock his car and get out. Again, Mayor Johnson: “Shooting a police officer can never be condoned. … I will never stand for that, and neither will the city of Chicago.”

That was a critically important note for the mayor to strike in remarks that also bemoaned the loss of yet another young Black man’s life and expressed determination to ascertain all the facts and hold people accountable where appropriate.

Unlike Johnson and Snelling, both of whom said just enough to reflect the gravity of the situation without inflaming matters with speculation and opinion before all the facts are unearthed and reported, COPA Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten felt free to share her opinions far and wide, including during a conveniently timed appearance at the City Club. Among the most questionable of those was her view (injudiciously expressed in advance of a completed investigation) that the cops’ response to Reed’s multiple shots at them wasn’t “proportional.” Police shot 96 times while Reed fired considerably fewer shots, although there have been conflicting reports of how many.

So, are we now going to criticize — or, as some want, prosecute — police who fail to count how many bullets are flying their way before shooting back and ensuring the number of shots is “proportional?” Even after a fellow officer has been shot? We are asking officers to risk their lives every day on the streets of a city awash in guns, many of them illegal. (Reed was facing past charges for illegal gun use.) Requiring cops to respond “proportionately” when someone is shooting at them not only is unreasonable; it will make recruiting new officers even harder.

A Chicago police officer’s job only has gotten more dangerous. Cops were shot or shot at 68 times in 2023 versus 55 times in 2022, WGN-TV reported. The number of people shot by police dropped over that same time frame to 11 from 18.

Making this awful incident far worse than it already is were the inflammatory postings of former mayoral candidate Ja’Mal Green over the weekend before the Tuesday release of the videos. Green posted on X, formerly Twitter, that he’d been “briefed” on the content of the videos and that they showed an “execution” and that “charges may be forthcoming.” (He later deleted the post.) Among the many questions to be answered is how Green got “briefed” on anything regarding this subject before public release or public discussion by someone in a position to be privy to the videos.

Needless to say, Green’s sensational language and wild speculation days before the public had access to the videos social media served only to inflame and not inform. Whatever credibility Green might have had before last weekend is severely compromised.

How about reasonableness on Dexter's part? How about obeying the law? Dexter could have just handed his valid driver's license over and proof of insurance like other reasonable citizens. He could have reasonably obeyed lawful commands from officers. Or reasonably not shooting at police officers. And not reasonably disrespecting the Safe-T-Act by violating the terms of your cashless bail and release. A black robe released you and your paid for by citizen taxpayers public defender advised you not to play with guns on your pre-trail release on the other gun charge. You violated a court order by a robe not to possess firearms and you affixed your signature acknowledging terms of your cashless release. Dexter's in your face contempt and blatant disregard for law and human life defines his character. If he would have just kept his crime gun in his holster, this situation would have a different outcome. You would have been arrested and got a second cashless bail Safe-T-Act release. And Dexter would laughing on the corner puffing on blunts with some females highlighting his mockery of the new and improved evolving criminal justice system.

But as his family's attorney would tell you law isn't about what's right and wrong, but how much money you can swindle from others. If Dexter was killed by another Humbolt Park homey, his attorney would have zero interest in his death. And elected democrats wouldn't give a flying funk about this room temperature homey as it would not be politically advantageous unless it somehow involved police.

SCC some years back while in at court the judge whose name escapes me at this time told a pos the same thing! Not verbatim, but he said "you do not have the right to fight the police because you feel they are falsely arresting you." He continued with if you feel you are being falsely arrested, you must not resist but comply and upon release, you can then complain and file a complaint, but you can not fight or resist the police.

This was before st fl0yd but it was amazing to see and hear! Talk about being proud to be the police! She was found guilty of the initial charge and battery to police.

After some time she got her record expunged and then filed a complaint HaHaHa she denied fighting me and my partner. In my response, I listed the court document # and provided the number to the SA & ASA'S # and told them to pull those transcripts along with my original reportS and pound sand. I knew the transcripts have her admitting to fighting the police and her complaint was now null and void as she lied! Poor thing did not win the ghetto lottery that day! As for the 3 rounds at the end, the Nashville mass shooter got 2 or 3 after going down and all of those officers were hailed as heros.

Go read the Trib Letters to Editor today. More "unjustified shooting" propaganda.

Go read the Trib Opinion piece. More "police attacking the people" rhetoric.

One lone letter from Trib reader, noting he's dodged violent crime-scenes in River North too often, is worried, does support police efforts to contain crime. Sole positive response from general public, though likely most people privately worry about crime, secretly support police efforts to patrol streets and contain crime, but are fearful of voicing what has been smeared to be a "MAGA/Trump" position. More letter to editor, in support of police action, are much needed. Politicians govern strictly by perceived popularity with their most vocal constituents, here meaning Palestinians, young POC adults, and black reverends.

The entire conversation and horrendous comments by politicians surrounding this incident is absolutely ludicrous! The scumbag most likely didn’t want to get out of the car and then shot a police officer because he didn’t want to get caught with a gun and thought he’d possibly get away. The seatbelt law is on the books and state politicians want it enforced. If they don’t, then remove it. It doesn’t matter how you encounter the police. You don’t shoot known police officers. The media reported that he had "ambitions" to be a "sports broadcaster."

Well, Dexter was 26 years old. What had he been doing since high school to fulfill that ambition? Did he go to college? Was he an intern at some sports outlet? Did he have some sort of job that would ultimately lead to him becoming a sportscaster?

Pretty much, the answers are "No, he did not." Because otherwise it would have been reported. The media LIES by what they leave out of the story. By showing an 8-year-old photo of him in his high school graduation gown only serves to mislead the public into thinking he is younger than 26.

How about showing a more recent photo, maybe from his facebook account? Does the family say they have not taken any photos since high school? What happened to playing basketball? Did he play in college or go to Europe to play?

How about reporting his criminal record, just like they will report the complaint histories of the involved officers?

How many shots did Dexter fire? We know he shot first and one officer was struck, but how many times did he shoot? CPD knows already how many of his shell casings were recovered. What kind of firearm did he have and where did he purchase it, like they ask whenever there is a school shooting by some deranged person?

What kind of job did he have to pay for that car? Mama said he just bought it.

The media's lies and complicity in promoting a narrative designed to stoke unrest could not be more obvious.

A fugitive gunman accused of killing a Florida sheriff’s deputy was shot 68 times by SWAT team officers who found him hiding in the woods, according to autopsy results.

Police fired 110 shots at Angilo Freeland, 27, the target of a massive manhunt in central Florida following the shooting death of Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Williams Thursday.

“That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.

Judd said Williams was “executed” after Freeland was pulled over in a routine traffic stop on Thursday. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed.

How about not doing a friday party video when officers are dying? you all had to leave the office early for a wedding in rosemont because of Friday traffic. Not sure how you managed because you are all so important and busy. You should show yourself partying and happy while 017 suffers from 3 active duty officers deaths. One a suicide by the way. You had a chance to offer support except you decided to show us how you party with the “crew” and leave work early. Your “crew” likes to tell people how busy they are and don’t have time for members requests. Are you going to close the office for any other made up holidays or possible bad weather? 4/11/2024 06:48:00 AM

He was first given a lawful order to roll down the window since he was already violating the seatbelt & tinted window law/ordinance. Since he failed to completely comply (one can presume form experience that he was contemplating/setting up for his escape/attempt to esape and elude police) he is then given a lawful order to open the door. Thus his noncompliance has now become a safety concern for officer’s, the public and the offender as they can reasonably fear for the safety while in the performance of their duties.

Ps I'm sure he was told not to have weapons on him or something to that effect... sure he knew what would happen if the police saw/found his gun

The minority communities have been complaining forever about being over policed. Anyone on the department knows that the vast majority of our resources are being used and/or sent to these communities. Why don’t we finally give them what they want. Scale back. Put the same amount of officers that are assigned to 016 into 011. Put those extra resources we are saving into the other districts so they can actually man bear cars and people can get a day off. It’s a win win.

Dolton Trustee Andrew Holmes and the south suburban village's embattled Mayor Tiffany Henyard were sued this week for an alleged sexual assault of a village employee in Las Vegas last year.

The civil lawsuit was filed Monday in Cook County by the now-former village employee and a Dolton police officer. It accuses Holmes, also a well-known community activist for victims of gun violence, of sexually assaulting the village employee. Henyard is named for allegedly trying to cover up the incident to protect herself and retaliating against the employee when she tried to come forward about the assault.

I can only hope that every politician reading this fully understands that it is these same law enforcement officers that are protecting them and their family on their details or just walking or riding around town. Every time these politicians disregard the laws of self defense because "Police are bad" ensures the officers only defend themselves and their family, and politicians and citizens can just fend for themselves. Soon there will be no officers, they will all walk away and there will be no one to protect anyone, including these same politicians and their families. And that goes across the entire country.

Not a Cop, just a concerned citizen who trust Law Enforcement and fully believes that Police are necessary to keep evil in check. And there is a lot of Evil in Chicago!

I remember when I started on this job, it was an endless cycle of community activists and west & south side aldermen crying “we are unfairly over policed,” then like clockwork the next complaint was “black communities don’t get the same amount of police resources.” I’ve lived in a pretty mixed but relatively quiet area (up until now) most of my career and I know anyone who also lives in typical city employee neighborhoods can attest for the same…when haven’t you seen manpower stripped from your lawful neighborhood to go babysit these districts that hate the police? Whether it’s patrol numbers, task forces or specially created units, that’s where manpower always ends up getting shuffled to…the places that can’t seem to find a modicum of community outrage when a 4 year old is shot that equals the dramatics and media coverage when some POS gets vented because he refused police orders, pointed and/or fired a gun at police.

In the private sector you get recognized with raises and bonuses for working hard in the the Chicago Police Department your boss gets recognized with promotions and salary bumps for your hard work.

Snelling was a stand up guy in the academy who was motivational and who had your back when you needed it. Let’s face it now he’s your typical politician who was stripping police officers for not logging into a portal or getting the jab that come to find out years later was a big hoax.

One day hopefully police officers will realize that the bosses need us more than we need them. This is a prime example of that, not one exempt spoke up for us during Covid and guess what not one exempt is speaking up for us now. Correction not one current Chicago Police Department exempt or alderman for that matter. Learn from this and hopefully everyone stops doing traffic stops and street stops and writing any sort of citations. Only make signed complaint arrests.
