Lucky He's Alive
One of the more notorious breakdowns in facility security where this guy was able to scale an exterior fire escape over at Homan Square, access a propped open door (ventilation you know) and enter an unlocked classroom full of duty weapons, stealing three along with a bullet proof vest. Then the fun began:
You may remember that Donald Patrick, 49, went to CPD’s Homan Square facility in September 2022 to retrieve some property from the Evidence and Recovered Property Section. After speaking with a sergeant and a security guard about the property, Patrick climbed an exterior fire escape and entered a room where SWAT team members were training, officials said.
Patrick allegedly took three unloaded guns from a table in the training area and climbed onto a catwalk that was part of the training scenario. Only then did an officer realize that Patrick had a gun.
Officials said the SWAT class was initially confused, thinking that Patrick may have been part of the training exercise. But they soon realized that he was an armed intruder. During the training exercise, one officer, who was unarmed, jumped from the catwalk and broke his foot. Other cops declared an “active shooter” incident.
Patrick donned a bulletproof vest he found in the facility and walked around while displaying two of the guns he took from the training area, prosecutors said. He placed the third firearm in his pocket.
Officers ordered Patrick to drop the guns and one cop shot Patrick. SWAT medical personnel treated him until a fire department ambulance arrived.
Only eight years, so he'll be out in 2026 after serving four.

So far, a 3 month old baby is lucky to still be alive after a back of the yards shooting. Hey Brandon, how is your "root cause" violence solution working? And an honorable mention to Pigster for the SAFE-T act. Sure didn't keep that baby safe did it progressives.
He will probably get his law degree while in the joint, then he will sue the CPD for leaving that ventilation vent unsecured!!
SCC how do I send you something?
Stop treating these assholes... wait for the paramedics to show up...
So much for security at police facilities.
What about the SWAT idiots?
We're any officers or staff at the facility fired?
That’s why they should have killed him. Cook County courts do not punish criminals. Now he’ll be out to hurt more people

Top right
He won’t even serve 4 on an 8 year but.
They get “day for a day” and half off so an 8 year bit turns into 4 by doing “one good day get a day off sentence “ and automatically half off the original 8.
So in reality he will do 2 years on an 8 year sentence.
Subtract from those 2 years any “time served” while awaiting trial.
Sounds like part of a Cecil B. De Mille movie.
your calculations are off he gets 1/3 sentence parole and a day for day of good behavior so roughly 2 yrs 8 months minus hatever tim he has been in awaiting trial

Those days are looooong gone. If you don't treat, you will be the one in prison.
Until station security is taken seriously this could happen at any of our locations. Look like you are supposed to be somewhere and no one will ever question you.
Stop treating these assholes... wait for the paramedics to show up...
Want to give up your freedom, your pension and everything else you worked for then listen to this guy!
From Raw Dogg training Manual: Train for the Unexpected. This Patrick fellow did the Daydreamey SWAT a great service by executing an unexpected tactic on SWAT & HQ.
Patton knew the Germans always launch a Counter-Offensive & not Rear-Guard Action. The Allied Command like Homan HQ did not think possible because they did not want to prepare, train & execute Raw Dogg mindset.
But Patton did. Patrick you would get a medal from Blood & Guts General 3rd Army.
An OEMC call taker publicly displayed a multi page to from alleging he was harassed by a supervisor. A lot of your co-workers have sued, are currently suing, and others are gearing up to sue. Good Luck!
Now that's a real man. Nor bright, but a real man.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Off topic... Is it true retired Cmdr. Buslik saved his honey bunny Cmdr. Daniel? Word on the street is she's assigned to 017, but still a Cmdr in the system. Apparently, they never actually demoted her. Supposedly they're going to move her to the Consent Decree Unit where she'll lock in her three years as an exempt next June and then retire with the big, fat gold star pension. If so... It just shows that Marc is heavier than Snelling, and that the Superintendent must do what he says.
That gated door is still wide open on the Homan side. All these specialists in that building and no one has the common sense to secure it.
“Stop treating these assholes, wait for the paramedics.” You are aware we are statutorily required to render aid… right…? So busy whining about the job that you don’t even keep up with legal REQUIREMENTS.
This happened in 2022, which means he gets credit for the two years on ankle monitoring. Sentenced to 8 years, he'll be out in two.

So yeah, 'treat' him... i'm no paramedic, so i guess i did the best i could and sadly, despite my best efforts, he expired...
Is this going to be in one of those “mission impossible” movies?
Why was the door propped open? Because there is no AC on the 5th floor. The dept provides zero facilities for swat to train, so they built their own area with their own money. It was an abandoned area of the building, wood covering window openings. Rats, squirrels, roaches all the usual west side vermin. Swat cleaned it and built a training area. Gets hot up there. It would be too much to ask the dept to provide training facilities for the swat team. But hey, as long as Lamb gets another merit promotion, thats all that matters. Worst example of merit ever. That's saying a lot in Chicago.

In other news coppers go from job to job all day in 90 degree weather with no AC in a pool car that has 200k miles on it. You'll be okay!
