Who You Gonna Believe?
The politicians who have a vested interest in not seeing their program fail? Or the lady who runs the system and has access to most of the actual numbers?
Ahead of the first anniversary of the end of cash bail in Illinois, Cook County’s clerk of court released a statistic that mystified other stakeholders in the county justice system: She warned that three out of four unconfined defendants have failed to show up for court dates over the past year.
In a letter to Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Clerk Iris Martinez wrote, “Together, we need to ensure that victims, witnesses, lawyers, judges, and police officers are not attending tens of thousands of hearings without the defendants being present.”
Martinez said defendants have failed to appear in court for hearings in roughly 67,000 of 90,000 cases from last September — when cash bail was eliminated in Illinois — until early this month. She called for an independent analysis of what she described as a “disconcerting” trend.
Martinez lost a highly contested primary to a Prickwrinkle sycophant, so this could be a parting shot at the county machine, but the spinning by other politicians leads us to believe there might be something to her numbers. After all, we know Prickwrinkle, Dart and Evans are notorious liars.

I heard one of the news stations last week ripping on those saying the no bail system would be a disaster and claiming the no show criminals were a tiny percent
How many of those cases were SOL even though no defendant was in court. Dummycrat math, don't bother going to court because the case is getting launched.

Well, I listened to Kim Foxx on WGN yesterday morning and she stated that those on cashless bail show up for court and do not reoffend while out on bail. I found my self screaming at the radio. she did however, keep reiterating "STATE wide" percentages. Basically, take Chicago out of the equation.

I’ve been reading multiple articles on several sites that the no bail thing is working like a dream and the best thing ever to be part of the so called justice system. Now a city clerk, a democrat, a loyalist dares to tell the actual truth and the reality of what’s going on. Hell didn’t freeze over when the. Cubs won a World Series but now hell is starting get some ice on the edges.
The new girl that is going to take over the states attorney’s office says she’s actually going to prosecute gun crimes, but she needs about 200 more attorneys hired. Maybe they could start the layoffs at cook county jail because there is so much open space but then again terrible Tommy just keeps putting on more and more people at higher and higher salaries. Many of us just got a real estate tax increase that is skyrocketed in order to pay for all of this corruption. There is Chicago teachers union with so many underutilize schools so many people that they do not need is demanding more and more money yet the graduation rate is way under many others plus the students are not coming out smarter they’re coming out indoctrinated into lifestyles that are beyond comprehension and reason
Preckwinkle is one of the worst disasters to ever hit Crook County. Add in Gov. Fatass and Mayor Pointy Head and Illinois is doomed.

Speaking of unions run by a man in a 3 piece suit, referred to as "the Defendant" in many hearings, Johnny Boy is pushing to move the Lodge to Midway. Just another way to control who can be involved in Lodge business and decisions. Wonder how much he'll pocket from the sale of the current Lodge.

Is there even a Republican candidate running in this states attorney race? Guy has done no campaigning at all. Probably wants to tell the grandkids and neighbors he was once on a ballet.
Anyone else tired of reading about complete failures written up as though humanity has been saved from the abyss? Only to end up deeper in darkness and mire...it's not just the media anymore, though they are a big part of the puzzle. It's the people who want to believe the lie, and defend it right down into the grave. It's not just local, it is now at the state and national level...

When I wrote tickets in a western suburb in the 80's, the state had just stopped seizing DL's and had drivers sign their names on the ticket and promise to appear. The old timers said that FTA's went through the roof with the change. When seizing the DL and stapling it to the ticket was re-instituted (in the 90's?), well whadaya know people started showing up for court again. Offenders need skin in the game or be locked up, otherwise history shows being nice or PC won't help.
