Even Off Duty
No one was injured after an off-duty Chicago police officer exchanged gunfire with two people in the South Loop early Saturday morning, according to Chicago police.
A man, 25, was on the sidewalk in the first block of West Polk Street at 3:45 a.m. when two people approached him, police said. A woman, a 25-year-old off-duty Chicago police officer, approached the group in a car, and one of the two people who had approached the man on the sidewalk shot at her before she shot back at them.
No injuries were reported, and no one is in custody, police said.
Hopefully, she was just looking out for her companion. It could have been far worse than it turned out.
But as the saying goes, "Nothing good happens after two AM."
We might have to move that back to "...after sunset."

I expect criminal activity to continue. The good people will unfortunately continue to be in shootouts! There is no crime and punishment in cook county, even with a new states attorney coming in the office, it’s all a joke! If your an off duty police officer or a citizen with a Concealed Carry License always have your firearm ready. Stay safe and never let your guard down! The life you save might be your own or a loved one!

And us 10k strong, our union was able to get us what? The police are powerless, after being effectively neutered by laws and policies put in place by violence-loving democrats, all in the name of "equity" and "restorative justice." The police aren't just sitting around doing nothing because the city is completely safe for them while the citizens are at risk. The robbing and attacking of off duty cops sends a couple of messages, one being that street robberies are on the rise and even young seemingly physically fit people are also being victimized. They can strike, we can't, it should be easy enough to understand. We have a bargaining unit, not a union, and thus, powerless to get what unions that can strike get. The CTU shouldn't be allowed to strike either, in the interest of public safety as well.

Hey 11:02:26 PM - Not CPD here, simply that 010 was the only place I could afford to buy a house that wasn't as F-d up as, say, North Lawndale or Austin. I work 60 hours a week, pay my taxes, and deserve the same city services as Mt. Greenwood or Edison Park.
