The Road to 600
The crime wave continues to swamp the nicer zip codes:
- A suspect is on the run after shots were fired at a hotel in downtown, Chicago police said.
The shooting happened at about 5:11 a.m. at the 500-block of N. State Street in the Near North neighborhood.
ABC7's cameras were at the scene. Video shows police focusing the investigation at The Royal Sonesta hotel.
We have a difficult time picturing these addresses because we never worked in the higher class parts of town. We were doomed to the rougher neighborhoods, and then found out it was enjoyable in a dark sort of way. Our seniority never looked as good as it did in the places no one else wanted to be assigned.
These downtown and uptown addresses where streets have names instead of numbers are appearing constantly in crime reports nowadays.
So the big question - will Chicago hit 600 murders this year? With a little over six weeks to go, the total sits at 543....and with Chicago is averaging over a killing a day, it would seem to be well within reach....weather permitting.

I’m thinking we can hit the fast forward button over Thanksgiving weekend and maybe get to 570+ by that Monday. We just need to find the bodies before that Monday. Maybe we hit 602-605. It’s a damn shame but this is the way conehead wants us to move based on his 💩 policies.
The experts who were good at "dummying down the numbers" have all retired.

It’s Chicago’s forte.
It’s been shit for years but a little birdie told me that the Greater River North Business Association, civic leaders, downtown merchants, residents and alderman are setting up a meeting with the Mayor’s office to have the “seldom at work or an any major scene” Commander moved out.
Uptick in recent violent crimes at major retailers, hotels, and other historic attractions such as Navy Pier, Hancock and the Rush Street bars and clubs are out of control. The only money being spent are from some tourists. Smash and grabs at the same merchants over and over and over that constantly make the news is costing them collectively millions annually to the point insurance companies no longer want to insure. Not to mention city residents now order on line or go to suburban stores for their shopping - hence no profit, nor county or city taxes collected. Apparently Barz’s big mouth may have gotten him in trouble once again by saying to someone important, “wtf do they want me to do about it, they should hire more private security” which got back to the wrong powerful Jewish folks. Stay tuned!

Thank Mount Sinai, UoChicago, and Northwestern Hospitals for their ER gunshot medical response units. These ER departments are reason why Chicago isn't matching its penultimate years of gunshot murders. Better medicine, not better-behaved people.
